Platinum plan...

I'm a little confused by the wording on the site, does the platinum plan include the cost of the hotel room, since it lists the deluxes as options, or does it mean you have to stay there just to get the plan?

It does not include the cost of the room or park tickets and you have to stay at a deluxe resort or villa. Basically you have to book a MYW package (room + tickets) and add the Platinum Plan to it. Mousesavers has an overview of the Platinum Plan:

nope, the platinum plan cost shown is the cost per night ON TOP of the cost of your room/tickets resort package.

Pretty sure you must have a room/tickets package to get it - they don't offer it on ticketless packages like they do the dining plans.

You must stay at a deluxe resort to get the platinum plan.
