Just curious if other Disers do all of the planning themselves or if they have help from spouses, family, friends, etc. My mother and I are headed to the world from Sept 30-Oct 8 and she has no input whatsoever as to what we do it is basically up to me and she is along for the ride. She hasn't been in (Gasp) ten years and I really want her to have a good time while we are there (so I can take her again:smooth: ) I have tried to solicit ideas from her about what attractions, restaurants, waterparks, etc. she is interested in, but she just says I can plan it all. Do others find that they do all of the planning? (Not that I'm complaining because I LOVE IT!), I just want to make sure my mother has a good time. Should I try to get her more involved or just continue to plan away?

I do all the planning because I love it! I love to start planning the next trip as soon as we get home. This year, I planned our vacation right in the middle of Charley and Frances.

Who waits til they get back!?! I have 2 planned right now. I do all the planning. I do ask my family for input. My DD loves to browse the resort pictures with me.

HOWDY Neighbor! I am up the road from you and grew up in Shoreview!

I do just about all the planning because I can! I also have a problem letting my plans out of my control because I don't trust anyone else to do it right.

DH wants to plan the next trip all by himself, not even telling me dates and I DO NOT want that to happen. Keeping me completely in the dark is NOT a good thing.

I always tell him what I think we should do and ask him for his input. His usual response is , "OK. Sounds good to me."

i do most of the planning but husband helps with the meals...i read him the menus of 3 choices per day and he says a,b or c!:)

So far it seems that most Disers do all of thier planning exclusivley guess that is what makes us Disers! It has been so much fun planning the trip hopefully, the AP burns a hole in my pocket and I can get back there before March!

Small World :wave2: its good to see a fell Minnesotan not to mention someone close by on the boards! I think i will try what you do and plan stuff and then ask for input about whether or not my mother will enjoy it!

are you kidding me? i can't think of a soul within my circle of traveling companions (family and or friends) that I would trust to plan anything! I need to know where I am going, when I have to be there, I am spontaneous enough in between my planned out situations to appear that I am not ridgid and commando...but deep down in side I am and we do things my way when is comes to anything Disney...I just pretend to let others think they are actually doing something...lol

Me!!! I plan every bit of it. If I waited on DH to do it, we'd be trying to figure everything out when we got there!! I do ask his opinion on what/when to do things though, but pretty much have it mapped out and ask if it looks ok to him. He doesn't mind a bit and I love to spend months planning it. I think that's half of the fun!

Out of everyone is my family I have been to WDW the most times. Therefore I do all the planning myself b/c I know what everyone likes and how to cover everything most efficiently. I am also a Special Events manager so planning is part of my job and I am pretty darn good at it. :smooth:

I do all the planning and LOVE it. My DH knows I'm an organizer/planner type and he leaves me to do what I love. I'll ask him (and DD) for input but he just says "I trust whatever you decide".

He will, however, let me know what restaurants he'd like to try and I fit them into the schedule. He also likes when I find something different to do each trip. Last year was MNSSHP. I'm not sure what new & different thing we'll try this year. Maybe a family tour?

I do all the planning, because I love it! I'll ask everyone for input, at least one or two people in my group (6) will tell me that they would like to eat here or there. But I do everything else. Also I am planning my next trip before we leave for this one!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

:jumping1: :jumping1:

I love the planning and no else in my family likes doing it.::yes:: :wave2:

I do the planning. The first time we went it was my 2 sister, mom, DH's and 7 kids. All 1st time. We didn't see much. Since then I do my best to plan everything. It is really more fun than work and makes our time there much better.

I do all the basic plannig myself. Then other family members put in their requests for certain must do attractions, rides places to eat, etc... I get then the necessary PS's, park tickets in advance, arrange transportation from MCO-resort-MCO; usually a limo. This time we're also spending two days at USF/IOA. So it's up to me to get the tickets and transportation for that also. I love doing it all. It really charges me up and I get really antsy to go NOW!

I do all of the planning as far as when we go and reservations for air, lodging.

My Dw takes care of priority seating and shows or events that we go see.

Me too! I've got our 2004 and 2005 trips both in the works now.

I do all the planning, I try to get input from others but basically they tell me they will just do what ever I plan. For our trip this past June I went to Deb Wills site and copied the menus for places I thought everyone would like and to give them an idea of prices. I did at least get them to chose one restaurant each that they liked. But I'm pretty sure most of them did not look at the menus because once we were there my sister complained about some of the food selections and the costs.
I'm going again in December with my mother and a friend of hers and her friend's grand daughter. And I've made all the PS's and figured which park which day, booked the tours for my mother and I and booked all the airfare. All they have to do is reimburse me after I pay for it on my Disney credit card.....but I am using the reward points just for me!
I really enjoy the planning, but it does bother me later if someone is not happy with my choices.

I do the planning myself, for any trips we take. I'm the control freak of the family, and everyone else if very easygoing so they are more than happy to hand over all of the planning to me. Plus, they trust me as I rarely lead them wrong. I do make my husband do all of the phone calls, but I write everything down on a piece of paper for him to reference. I have a phone phobia so it's necessary. But, he's good at it, got all of the PS's I wanted, including getting up at 6:55 am to get the PSB character breakfast for the day and time I wanted. But really, that's about as much 'planning' as he wants to do so it works out perfectly.;)

This is actually the first vacation I've ever planned and I think I'm doing pretty well! :) I planned the whole thing with a little help from my father. He booked the rental car and will probably be picking up the park tickets. I did everything else. I feel so in control! lol.
