Planning Weddings for those Not-yet Engaged!

Morning girls...your stories crack me up!!!

I had a Cinderella cake topper the first time...here's a pic (yummy CHEESECAKE!)

Ok Mandy, you really need to stop posting pictures of your cheesecake cake because every time you do, I drool a little and I'm pretty sure that is bad for my laptop. Plus, its like some sort of pavlovian response that whenever I see it, I turn to DBF and tell him we should go get cheesecake

I am kidding, I am sure I could get over my Vegas dream for a honeymoon in Europe. He did tell me yesterday he would take a weekend trip with me to Vegas.

DBF said to me once "a Disney wedding would be way too expensive and we would have to make everyone in my family that lives in Connecticut travel so far. Ohhh, we should get married in Ireland!" :confused3

I told him I wasn't sure which globe he was looking at, but the correct one has Ireland placed allllll the way across the Atlantic ocean. And let's not even start on the fact that he thinks Ireland is cheaper then Disney :rotfl:

I have! I'm a Little Mermaid gal myself, Ariel is my favorite, but I don't really like the topper they have for her. :(

Aw I love the Little Mermaid too. That topper definitely could have been cuter then it is :sad2:

Now I am so hungry for cupcakes. Maybe I need to make some.

I just found a Rock-a-billy themed Vegas wedding. James would love that. He likes Rock-a-billy.

Wow, I've missed a lot! LOL...

Mandy, that cake is to DIE for! I'm salivating and it's not pretty...

You know, I haven't really thought about a cake topper...I love the white chocolate castle topper but DBF hates white chocolate...he can get over it though :rotfl: !

It looks really pretty and the best part is that it's edible! YAY!

For an actual keepsake topper, I like this one:

DBF has a thing for planes and I think it would be a nice touch! :goodvibes

Oh, and I see you ladies for were talking about how everyone met their DBF! I met mine in high school but we were so shy around each other it was ridiculous LOL! We became friends and then, finally, we started talking non-stop on the phone and started hanging out constantly (this was after high school graduation). Anywho, one day we were out with some friends and, out of flippin' nowhere, he kisses me. I was like :scared1: but I loved it :yay: ! Well, apparently, he thought that since we already kissed, we were BF and GF. Uh, NO BUDDY! LOL...so he asked me out between 11pm and midnight on the phone after we had already gotten back home. It was hardly planned but it was still special

So the brown bathrooms birthday is on Tuesday...
He will be 27!! Finally I will only be 3 years older than him :rotfl:
I have no clue what to get him!!
Saturday we are going to a hockey game. Tuesday I thought about taking him out to dinner, mexican maybe?
Then next Saturday the 25 we are going to Seattle for the Notre Dame, UW game.
hmmm...what to do...what to do...

Oh cool, his birthday is the same day as my nephew. Mexican sounds good.

I have got to be the weirdest person I know. :lmao: :lmao: Seriously, why would I get involved with someone on a different continent?

Seperated by Distance, joined by love:lovestruc

Not wierd...maybe a little crazy:lmao:

Yea I just don't see how it would ever work. But, I am the commitment phobic.

But I would totally wear that dress to my wedding.

Guys I know this is super long, but I just found this and really LOVE it!!

When You Give Your Hands, You Give Your Hearts
By Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway

Many cultures have different ways of blessing the hands of the bride and groom.

In Thai ceremonies, for example, the couple kneels as elder, married relatives pour blessed water from a conch shell onto their hands and offer words of blessing. In the ancient Celtic tradition of hand-fasting, the couple’s hands are literally tied together to symbolize spiritual and physical unity as prayers and blessings are recited.

In any tradition, a hand blessing is a ritual that is meant to draw you closer to one another.

I have always heard that the hands are a connection to the heart, and a hand blessing symbolically brings two hearts together. When I officiated the wedding of a physician recently she confirmed that physically there is a connection between the veins in the hands and the heart.

I like to offer couples a non-denominational approach. It can be done at any point in the ceremony yet fits in perfectly right after the exchange of the rings.

Here’s how it works:

You and your beloved face each other. First join your right palms, and then your left palms. This forms an infinity symbol with your hands, which symbolizes a love that will go on forever.

I love to begin with the sentiment that Shakespeare said, “Now join your hands, and with your hand’s your hearts.” (And in Las Vegas, you can probably find Shakespeare to utter that line himself during your ceremony!)

Then I ask the couple to look into one another’s eyes. There are a number of written/spoken blessings that can be used. Here is one that I have modified from a very, very popular hand blessing that seems to be all over the Internet (not attributed to an author, as far as I can tell):

These are the hands of your best friend. They are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.

These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind.

These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.

May these hands always reach out with love, tenderness and respect.

May these hands continue to build a loving relationship that lasts a lifetime.

With eyes locked, and hands linked, this ritual is a beautiful symbol of the union of two hearts, two lives, and two souls.
