Planning Our Happily Ever After - A Disneymoon PTR! (NEW 7/13 - TR Link!)

NOVEMBER ADR’S

Since this trip was a last minute decision (in the way of making ADR’s – remember, we only had 3 days until our day) I didn’t have much time to carefully plan things out like I will be doing for the honeymoon. I had a few places in mind that we either loved on our January trip, or our previous trips, and a few that we’ve really been wanting to try. Also I was a little worried that it might be hard to get many ADRs because of our trip being over the Thanksgiving holiday. But, when I signed on to make them, I was pleasantly surprised! Here’s what we got!

FRIDAY
Crystal Palace 12:00 pm
Miguel and I first ate lunch at CP back during our March 2009 trip and absolutely loved it! The food was wonderful and there was a huge variety. Plus, Pooh is my favorite! I can’t wait to give him a big hug! I was a little torn between breakfast or lunch because I really want to try the breakfast at CP, but I’m planning on that for our disneymoon, so lunch it is in November!

SATURDAY
Akershus 8:35 am
This was one of our favorite meals in January! Lately though, I’ve been wondering if we really needed to do it again this trip. I asked Miguel tonight, expecting a “whatever you think” (his typical response when it comes to planning) but instead got an “absolutely!” If you read along with my TR then you will remember Miguel thoroughly enjoying himself at Akershus! ;) So it looks like this one will stay!

O’Hana 6:00 pm
This was are absolute favorite in January and is a must do for us from now on. I’ve been craving all of that yummy food since we ate there!

SUNDAY

Sci-Fi 6:00 pm
This is a new one for us! I’ve been wanting to try Sci-Fi lately, and was having a hard time working it into the disneymoon schedule, so I figured we can knock it out here! I hope we like it!

MONDAY
I should preface this day by saying we are not planning on keeping all of these ADR’s – I’ve got three of them! And as much as I love TS meals at Disney, 3 a day is too much for us.

Boma 8:00 am
I really regret not giving Boma a try while we stayed at AKL in January. It seems like the food is pretty similar to TH breakfast, which we loved.

Yak & Yeti 12:00 pm
This is one I’m on the fence with. There are some days were I think I’m just dying to eat there, and other where I don’t have much interest in it.

Chefs de France 6:30 pm
Another new one for us! Although I really would prefer to eat lunch here, but the scheduling just isn’t allowing it.

So, for Monday, I really need help deciding between Boma or Y&Y. What do you think DISers?!

I love all of your ADR's! We have a lot of similar restaurants that we are going to! :goodvibes

I'll have to read your TR, I want to read all about Akershus, I've been going back and forth with wondering if I should try to eat there or not, maybe your TR will give me some insight! :rotfl:

I'm glad to hear you like Ohana so much! I can't wait to try it on my trip!

I'll be trying Chef's and Sci-Fi for the first time on my trip too, so I will let you know how they are when I get back! I have a feeling I'm going to love both of them!

I'd take Boma over Y&Y, I've heard such great things about it! I'm trying to find a day to fit it in on my trip too, because not only do I want to eat there, but I want to see AKL in person sooooo badly! :)

Over the years, we’ve eaten at many of the places you’ve mentioned. Most of them are good choices:

  • Crystal Palace---I too am a fan of the POOH characters, and I never really had a bad meal at CP. Dinner is our favorite here, although Breakfast runs a close second.
  • Ankershus—I have to admit, I have NOT eaten here since they switched the venue over to a character-driven theme. I enjoyed it PRE-Princess, mainly because the atmosphere and buffet-style really lent itself to the Norwegian-theme I expected and the unique foods were quite enjoyable. I have no idea if it is still like this now, so I cannot fully dissect and opinion. Hubby’s not into the character interaction, so we probably won’t be eating here on the 2011 trip.
  • O’Hana’s—myself…..I’ve always enjoyed this location, but the rest of my family, frankly HATES it. This is why we eat at Kona Café.
  • Sci-Fi-----eeeh, not my fav…again, it’s been years since we ate there, and we find that at DHS (almost called it MGM…LOL), that if we eat in the park, it’s either counter-service or 50’s Prime Time. I am hoping to talk DH into a Brown Derby meal (if we opt for doing the deluxe dining plan, that is….)
  • Boma---I’ve NEVER eaten there, although most people who have had nothing but good things to say about it. For us, the AKL resort is so far off the beaten path, I doubt if we’ll ever get over there. Sad to say…..
  • Yak & Yeti---we ate there in 2007, just after they opened, and we loved EVERYTHING about it. The décor, theming and the food were wonderful. I have this on the list for our AK lunch again for 2011.
  • Chefs de France---this is one of my Dad’s FAVORITES…..for many years we always had a Chef’s dinner in our itinerary. Sadly, we’ve evolved over time, and Le Cellier has now become our GIVEN Epcot dinner local. I actually prefer both the Teppanyaki Dining and Restaurant Marrakesh more, but of our group, I am the most adventurous in the culinary spectrum.

Anyway, these look great for you all, and I know that you’ll have nothing but a good time!!!

I've eaten at all your picks except for Chefs. Have you been to a PF Changs before? Y&Y is very similar. We love it but the one problem is that when it's hot out...I don't like a huge lunch like that. I've felt sick afterward both time from eating so much at lunchtime. Maybe that won't be an issue in November. Boma is for the adventurous. We like it there but we tend to eat a lot of food like that. If you like Indian food- you'll be good.

Yay for ADRs!
I like Sci-Fi because I'm a sucker for sandwiches/burgers and that is what they do really well. Plus the milk shakes are yummy!

I would pick the Boma breakfast. I've only eaten dinner there, but it was REALLY good and I've heard great things about breakfast!

Chefs de France sounds yummy, too. It is still on our list of 'places to try in the future'.

From what I remember all the seats/tables were in cars, so you should be okay.

IMG_2883.jpg

Mmmm, apple crumble... Can you see how big those pieces of apple are?

Oh my goodness, that looks amazing! I'm definitely going to remember that when we're at Sci-Fi! :thumbsup2

I like all your ADRs! :goodvibes great that you got some favourites included too... Crystal Palace lunch is one of our favourites too :thumbsup2

about the Boma/Y&Y dilemma (!) ... we had lunch at Y&Y in 2008 and really enjoyed it, the food was delicious and the service was excellent.. I think I had honey-chicken with rice & a 'yak attack' cocktail! :goodvibes
However.. out of the two, maybe it'd be best to stick with Boma.. that'll be a big breakfast -and will probably keep you going until dinner af Chefs de France later on!

Emma princess: x

Yeah, I think we can fill up at Boma and then maybe have some snacks at AK to hold us until dinner. We tend to snack more in that park anyway. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Y&Y, though! It's definitely on my list of places to try - if not in November then for the honeymoon! :goodvibes

I love Y&Y! It's sooooo yummy. They have a great Kobe Beef Burger there, it is quite possibly the BEST burger that I have ever eaten. :cloud9:

That burger is what draws me to Y&Y! I love a good burger. :thumbsup2

Boma all the way! lol though I would be biased saying that because I have never eaten at Yak and Yetti.

We are planning on eating breakfast at CP when we take our trip in October. I will let you know how the food is for breakfast, though I am sure it will be yummy!

We are trying Ohana this time around for breakfast and I have heard mixed things about it. So I hope it is great!

Sci-Fi is one we are always on the fence about, but it sounds like it would be a great place to try out! I have family that recently went to the world and ate there and loved it. The kids had a blast and it was a cool setting, they said.

Have fun with your planning!!! I know I am, and I am forever changing things around haha!!! [[we planned on staying at POP when we go in October, but I think my DH is changing us to Coronado Springs, with our last night possibly at POP]].

O'Hana for breakfast is another one I would love to try. We obviously love the dinner there but I wonder if we would like the breakfast. We aren't Lilo and Stitch fans, but hey - if the food is good! :thumbsup2

 All of the little changes are what makes planning a trip to Disney so much fun! There are just so many options to choose from! Have you stayed at CSR before? We stayed there a couple years ago and really liked it - although I would love to go back now that they have the refurbed rooms!

I love all of your ADR's! We have a lot of similar restaurants that we are going to! :goodvibes

Yes, we had lots of fun at Akershus! I say try it! The food was delicious - I've got some pictures of the plate in my TR. The service was some of the best we had all week, and the character interaction was priceless! :cloud9: It's under the "Back off Sleeping Beauty" link in my TR if you want to take a look!

YUM Boma! You HAVE to go! It is soooo delicious!

I'm thinking Boma is going to be it for us this time! I'm really excited to try it! :woohoo:

Thanks for all the feedback! I think you should give Akershus a try again! I was really unsure whether or not Miguel would like it because he's really shy and I thought he might not enjoy the interaction with the face characters but he loved it!

I'm really hoping we like Sci-Fi, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. I've heard a lot of reviews like yours. I'm mostly looking at it as a place to get a "hopefully" good burger in a unique setting. :thumbsup2

Oh yeah, we've got a PF Changs here. That's the thing that kind of hangs me up about Y&Y - it doesn't seem like lunch food to me, yet you can't really eat dinner there because of the park hours. :confused3

Yay for ADRs!

A burger is what I'm planning on ordering! As long as that's good I think I'll be happy.:) I just hope they'll make me one for dinner since it's not on the menu!

11 MONTHS!!!

Thanks so much for all of your advice about Boma and Y&Y! I really appreciate the input! I think for this November trip, Boma is going to be our best bet. I would really prefer to eat at Y&Y on a day we don’t have a dinner ADR so we won’t have to worry about being too full. I’ve still got Y&Y on my radar for our disneymoon, though!

And speaking of Disneymoons, today marks 11 months until our Disneymoon!!! It still feels strange to be celebrating the trip being that far away, but hey – 11 months sounds a lot better than 12 months! I’d like to eventually do some sort of post in honor of the current month we are on (you know, top 10 characters, food, attractions, etc.) but I think I’ll start that next month. 10 months seems like a better place to start! Instead, I thought I could post 11 of my favorite pictures of Miguel and I (either together or individually) from our recent trip in January since I think this PTR is lacking in pictures of the “cast”. So, here we go!

Miguel and I after a yummy lunch at Sunshine Seasons – our traditional stop after a ride on Soarin’!

Stopping for a PP pick in front of Spaceship Earth: this PP photographer was great!

If you read my TR, then you know we loved trying on all the great hats!

I love this picture Miguel took of me, mostly because I match the BC!

I also feel as though I should mention that I do in fact have hair – despite what you see in the pictures! I have long, curly hair that I wear up while at Disney. Just though I should clarify that! :lmao:

A cute picture of Miguel on our short “AKL exploration” morning. Notice the multiple jackets due to the freezing temps that week!

I think this picture shows genuine happiness. We were about to dine at Tusker House for Donald’s Safari breakfast!

I feel like saying, here we are in front of the Tree of Life, but I think the picture pretty much sums that up!

Such a pretty backdrop at WS!

I told you Miguel liked the Princess breakfast at Akershus!

And of course – a phone booth picture!

Obviously, there are a lot of other favorites, but there’s my 11 in honor of 11 months until our Disneymoon!!!

You have curly hair??????????????? Never would have guess that!!!

Love all the pics!!! You guys are so cute! You need to keep doing TRs even after your Disneymoon so we can see what your babies look like!!! :rolleyes1

 Yeah, I hide my curls pretty well! It isn't necessarily that I don't like them, they're just a lot of work. Normally, if I wear my hair down, I straighten it.

Awww, you're sweet! :goodvibes I certainly hope there will be more TR's after the Disneymoon! Especially with these AP's I've been thinking about lately. :rolleyes1

I think you made an excellent choice with Boma....and if you can, do Y&Y on the DM!! Another place to consider for your DM is Narcoossee's at the GF...if you like seafood, then you'll love Narcoossee's!!

I would have NEVER guess you had long, CURLY hair....do you flat-iron it? Your hair looks so smooth in the UP-pics!

Oh, and btw, I talked up your and Miguels' ANKERSHUS experience to my DH and he said YES!! So, it's definately on our ADR list!! Thanks for the recommendation!!

Narcoossee's is another one I've been thinking about! One of these days I'm going to do my signature dinning post so you all can help me pick a couple for the disneymoon!

Yes, I have curly hair! I tried to find a picture that highlights it, but I couldn't find one on my computer! That just shows how often I wear it down when it's curly. I only flat iron it if I'm going to wear it down. The rest is just lots of combing! :lmao:

Yay!!! :woohoo: I'm so excited you're going to try Akershus! I so hope you like it!

Awww, your pics are so cute! :lovestruc I would have never guessed you had curly hair either, I'm the same way, I don't dislike my curls, but they're a pain! Then again, so is straightening my hair, so I can't win, especially in humidity! :)

Yay for 11 months! :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: Definitely sounds much better than 12 months!

Such a cute post! It's fun to see all those great pictures all in one place!

11 months isn't so far away... and you can't count wedding planing months- they go by too fast!

Thanks! :goodvibes My hair has gotten so long now that straightening it has pretty much been rulled out, too. :sad2: It's just so much easier to put it up!

That is so true! When I think about 11 months until the honeymoon, it seems so far away. But when I think about 11 months until the wedding, I start to panic! There's still so much to do!

OMG, I just had a  moment.....you're SO GONNA LAUGH.

So you titled your latest update as "11 months!" and I'm thinking, "oh how interesting....since MY WDW trip is also 11 months away, and then it HITS me.....

we're gonna be at WDW at the same time!! Now, really, that's why my catch-phrase is "HOLY SPORKS!!!"

We'll be arriving on the 19th, and staying (tentatively) until the 28th

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I smell at meet-up in our future!!!

Oh you should definitely be buying an AP in November to use your honeymoon! You can get room discounts prior to actually having the AP you know right???? I got an AP last year since I took two trips. It saved me $70 plus just on the tickets PLUS I got AP room discounts on both trips. I booked the first one telling them that I would be getting an AP. As long as you have it by check in...you're good!
