Planning Our Happily Ever After - A Disneymoon PTR! (NEW 7/13 - TR Link!)

So exciting! That is awesome that you get to go in Nov. and get to see the Christmad decorations. Looking forwad to seeing your plans and hotel.

WOHO for another trip!! That's such great news!

I can't wait to hear where you are staying!!

Definitely! We are very excited! :woohoo: I should be doing my resort post soon!

I didn't know I was going until two weeks ago either. Haha! My Dad just decided that for Thanksgiving we are going. We are only going to go to DL not DCA. I don't want to hurt my Dad's back too much walking around there you know?

Well that's a nice surprise! What a great way to spend Thanksgiving! :goodvibes How long will you be there for?

I can't believe I'm getting to experience Christmas at Disney twice this year! Our January trip really left me wanting to experience the world before the holidays to get us into the Christmas spirit! :thumbsup2

Just one day. Because I only have four days off. So two of the days well be spent on the road. I think we'll make it there for Thanksgiving dinner. Then do Disney the following day and then hang out with the hubby for all of Saturday and push it till he has to get on his plane back to Texas. I think that's going to be a very hard day for me. I might cry when I see him on Thanksgiving. I'm so emotional!

HOW EXCITING!!!! I really, really want to go next Thanksgiving for my litte one's bday. I will be teaching then, so the days off would not be an issue. I can not WAIT to hear how you like it!!! I have heard that it is not that crowded and a great time to go. I am voting either WL or BC!!! :cloud9:

I've been busy and off the DIS, but I noticed your wedding link. I cant wait to read about all of your planning! :bride:

That sounds like a good plan - a little time at Disney, a little time with your DH. :thumbsup2 How long is he going to be in Texas for? I would be so emotional too!

We're very excited! :woohoo: I'm really hoping Thanksgiving is a good time to go. I've read that the few days leading up to that Thursday and a few days after can be crowded, but hopefully we won't catch too many of the crowds.

Yay! I'm glad you made it over! :goodvibes

OUR NOVEMBER HOME

Going into this November trip, I knew it needed to be a budget trip since we will be doing all kinds of splurging for our Disneymoon. Besides the fact that we’ll only be there for 5 nights, I thought it would be best to book us in a value. I received a pin code by email for 40% off, but of course it would only be good for the last 2 nights of our stay since the first three are considered holiday pricing. On a side note…I get SO MANY Pins, and have never been able to use a single one! Anyway, the CM priced out a package for us, based on 4 nights since that was my original plan (I added on an extra night later). So, 4 nights at POP Century, 3 day park hoppers, DDP… and I must say I was a bit shocked when I heard the total. It was over $1400! So much for a budget. :scared1:

Quickly, I thought of my AAA membership. I wasn’t sure if the AAA discount could be applied to holiday times, but the CM told me they could! So at least I got a little discount! Because of the AAA discount, I couldn’t do a package, so I just booked a room-only reservation and decided I would buy our tickets later.

But then I got to thinking…and like so many of my fellow DISers, I began to get nervous about our hotel choice. We’ve never stayed at a value before, so I was worried we might not like it. We are people that actually do like spending a lot of time at our resorts, so it’s worth it to us to pay a little more for something we really like. So I thought I would just get on to the Disney website and price out the difference between POP and the Mods. However, the POP quote I was getting from the website was exactly the same that I was quoted over the phone (the one that supposedly had my AAA discount). So on the phone I went and discovered that value resorts do not accept AAA discounts during the holiday times. The Mods however, do! So I was able to switch us to a Mod for only about $170 more than we would pay to stay at POP. :woohoo:

So, in November, we will be staying at…

PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE!!!

I am so excited to be staying here! I stayed here many times as a child (back when it was Dixie Landings) so I have a lot of great memories from there. And even though we won’t have as much resort time as we normally do since we’ll be in Disney for a shorter time, I’m happy that the time we will spend at our resort will be at one we both are looking forward to staying at!

UP NEXT: November ADR's!

That's great that AAA is able to get you such a good price at POR! When we decided to add on two nights to our trip, to save a little money we decided to just go and book it at a value. That way, if we don't care for it we know we won't be there long, and we'll have even more reason to look forward to our switch over to POR =) Can't wait to hear what your ADR's are!

Oh yes, I am VERY happy with your resort choice. What a great resort to stay, even for a short trip!!

Yay!!!! :cool1: How cool you're staying at POR, we're staying at the same place! :woohoo: I love those pictures you posted, I'm so excited to see it in person, especially the mansions section!:)

For only $170 more I would definitely go with a Mod as well. I also enjoy spending time at the resort as well so I am very interested to hear your plans for November. :) We had 4 full days and I was sick by the end because of the lack of sleep/rest and the CS food for nearly every meal. POR looks like such a nice resort but I still am leaning towards Coronado b/c of the updated rooms. I'm curious as to what ADR's you snagged!!!!

I think you made a great choice :thumbsup2 It'll be nice to go somewhere that you do have such good memories of!

I was so happy to hear that AAA discount was available! I asked the CM if she was sure probably five times! :lmao:

I think you made a great choice! POR is soooo pretty; I'd absolutely love to stay there someday!

I'm really excited about POR! We absolutely love POFQ, and I have a feeling we'll enjoy Riverside just as much. :thumbsup2

POR is perfect for some pre-honeymoon romance :thumbsup2

One of the things I really loved about POFQ was how romantic is felt at night - I think POR is going to have that same feel for us. It's just so peaceful and serene looking. :cloud9:

 I thought you might like it! I can't wait to read your TR after your trip and hear about your time at POR! :goodvibes

The Mansion section is definitely my favorite! I've requested a room there - I really hope we get it! :yay:

I remember when we took our first trip together (which was Miguel's first trip ever) I tried so hard to fit everything in that we were exhausted when we left (2.5 days later). The nice thing about this trip is knowing we'll be back in June and if we miss some things in order to relax and spend some time at the resort/pool/whatever, we can make up for it in just a few months!

Coronado is at the top of our list too! We stayed there back in '08 and I would love to stay there again for the new rooms - they look so nice! :thumbsup2

I think you made a great choice :thumbsup2 It'll be nice to go somewhere that you do have such good memories of!

One of my "strongest" Disney memories from my childhood was being out in a paddle boat in the river behind POR and looking up at the beautiful blue building (which I think is the food court) that I posted in one of my pics. It's like that scene is etched in my mind forever! I can't wait to get back there! :cloud9:

Great choice! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes I think we're really going to love staying there!

BIG NEWS

As the title of my post suggests, I’ve got some BIG news! And I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with you. I’ve been keeping a teeny-tiny secret. I promise though, I had a good reason!

You see, Miguel and I’s next time in Disney will not be for our June 2011 Disneymoon. Instead, our next trip is going to be...

THIS NOVEMBER!!!

Now, before I tell about our plans, let me explain how this trip came to be, and why I’ve been keeping it a secret until now!

I knew that it was going to be really hard to wait a year and a half between our engagement trip this past January and our Disneymoon in June to return to the world. I was actually hoping for an October, Food and Wine weekend getaway before we even left the world in January, but my new job kind of squashed that idea. You see, our vacation time does not run from January to December like most people’s. Instead, our vacation year is from July 1st to June 30. Because I am a new employee, I was not able to take any vacation for 90 days (Normal), so when my vacation window opened, I would already be into the next vacation year – the year that would include our 10 day Disneymoon. (Plus my 2 week trip to Italy that they are so graciously letting me take – I really do have a great job!)

So it seemed that another 2010 trip to Disney was not in the cards. I didn’t want to use up my precious vacation time and take it away from the time I would need for our honeymoon. But then I stated to think about Thanksgiving…I would already have 4 days off, and could probably spare one additional day (or two :rolleyes1) of vacation time to give us enough time to make a quick trip down to Disney. I talked it over with Miguel, but he was hesitant about it, thinking he probably could not get any more time off this year.

I quickly checked our dates and saw when our ADR day would be and found that we had about three days to make up our minds! I decided that, even though we weren’t sure we could have the time off, I should go ahead and book (mostly to be able to make our ADR’S)!

And so I called on a Thursday, and Friday night I got online and booked our ADR’s! I was actually able to do them one day early! :thumbsup2 It was quite the whirlwind! I decided not to make an announcement until we were positive that we would in fact be going! To start off with this trip was very much a hypothetical. I'm constantly saying to Miguel...let's go to Disney! Of course most of those trips never happen - so I didn't want to put too much hope into this one. Also, I figured I wouldn’t have enough stuff to fill a PTR for the November trip for 5 months, so I thought I could just tie it in to our Disneymoon PTR if we did end up being able to go.

So, I’m finally able to announce our trip because we’ve just found out that it is official: we’re going to Disney in November!!! We were both able to get the Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving off of work!

We will be returning to the world for a short, 5 night trip Thursday, November 25 thru Tuesday, November 30. We’ll be leaving after lunch on Thursday so that we can at least have Thanksgiving lunch with the family. We’ll be driving home on Tuesday, so that will leave us with four, action packed days in the parks! It’s definitely a short trip, but we’re just excited to be going back to Disney before June! I’ll reveal more of the details about this trip in a later post! I hope you don't mind if I use this PTR for this November trip as well!

SO EXCITING!!!!!!
I wouldn't be able to wait that long to go! I am excited for you! 4 days is plenty enough time! That way you can try out your shoe choices too!!!!

Great choice! I've never stayed at POR, but visited it when I stayed at POFQ a few years ago (and once way back when it was still Dixie Landings and Port Orleans) It's beautiful!

I've stayed at POP my last several trips, so it is what I think of when I think of going to WDW. But as much as I enjoy it, it is not romantic or relaxing!
