Planning Our Happily Ever After - A Disneymoon PTR! (NEW 7/13 - TR Link!)

Oh you should definitely be buying an AP in November to use your honeymoon! You can get room discounts prior to actually having the AP you know right???? I got an AP last year since I took two trips. It saved me $70 plus just on the tickets PLUS I got AP room discounts on both trips. I booked the first one telling them that I would be getting an AP. As long as you have it by check in...you're good!

Oh, I have so been thinking about it. I've been pricing it out to see how much money we'll save. I think the biggest savings will come in the room discount at the Poly. I'm really hoping they'll do an AP discount in November - I think that would seal the deal for me for sure. I've read sometimes they'll do a discount over Thanksgiving, sometimes they won't. :confused3

I think I'm going to do an AP discussion post within the next few days and lay out all of my thoughts. I want to make my decision before the prices go up in August.

I'm in. Congratulations!

:welcome: Thanks for joining in!

Those pictures are so cute, what a good idea too!!

I want to see a picture of your curly hair too!

Great pictures! What a fun way to celebrate only 11 short months before the wedding and Disneymoon!!! :yay: You two are so cute together!

Oh my goodness, Ms Courtney! I didn't realize how much time had passed since I'd posted on your PTR until I started going back and realized how much I'd missed!

I am so excited for your Thanksgiving trip! :woohoo: That's so great that you and Miguel get to go back before the "BIG" trip! :) You'll enjoy POR---However, it's a big resort---do your research and request a good building.

So glad you got the ADRs you wanted. I agree with your choice of keeping the Boma breakfast, especially since you have a big dinner planned that same evening! :thumbsup2

Great ADR choices!

You have curly hair and you are able to get it that smooth and tight over your head?! :worship:

I haven't been on the DIS in over a week so I am very far behind! Let me see what I can remember after catching up...hehe....

1. LOVE POR! It is definitely my favorite moderate, and I think the extra money over POP is wayyy worth it, esp. since you enjoy resort time.

2. Great ADRs! I tried Chefs de France for the first time during my June trip and really, really liked it. I highly suggest the french onion soup, and the profiteroles for dessert...heavenly!

3. 11 months!! Unbelievable! I really liked your pictures, too, that was a cute idea :)

Here are the historical rates offered. The past couple of years they've had a room only Passholder rate in November.

Awww, you guys just look so genuinely happy in all of your pics! You can tell how much you love each other + how much fun you had!! The Miguel + Aurora pic is great!

11 months?! It'll go really fast from this point on. I enjoyed your photos. It is so obvious how much fun you guys have!

I am just getting up to date. My Dis time has been reduced since I finally started my new job. Anways, your ADR's for Nov look great and I think you will like Boma. DH and I have eaten there multiple time and really enjoy it. Both breakfast and dinner is good.

Congrats on 11 months!!!!!!!!!!! The pictures from some of your past trips are great.

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm going to have to take a picture of my hair when it's curly to share with you all - I can't even find one right now! :sad2:

Awww, thanks! :cloud9: 11 months sounds so long but I know it will be here soon!

You picked some great pics for your 11 month post!

Thanks, Denise! :goodvibes It was hard to pick just 11!

Hey Michelle! I was missing seeing you around here! I'm glad you're all caught up! :goodvibes

I'll definitely need to do some research about a room request at POR. I've already requested the mansions section, but I'm thinking I should probably request a specific one. I think I'll do a location post at some point for both POR and the Poly.

Great ADR choices!

You have curly hair and you are able to get it that smooth and tight over your head?! :worship:

Thanks! I'm really happy with the ADRs we got! :thumbsup2

 Yes, it does take a good bit of combing, but as long as my hair dries naturally I can get it pretty smooth on top. If I put any sort of product in it while it's wet then it's pretty much impossible, though.

I haven't been on the DIS in over a week so I am very far behind! Let me see what I can remember after catching up...hehe....

I definitely have that french onion soup in mind for Chefs. I've hear it is really good. I think we'll probably go with the set price menu thing they have. :thumbsup2

It looks like it was about it time last year when they announced AP rates for November. :woohoo: I hope they come out with something soon! I think I'm going to do my AP post tomorrow. I think once I get all my thoughts "out" it will be easy to make a decision.

Awww, you guys just look so genuinely happy in all of your pics! You can tell how much you love each other + how much fun you had!! The Miguel + Aurora pic is great!

Thank you! You're too sweet! :cloud9: We do have so much fun together, especially at Disney!

I'm hoping it's going to go by fast - although there is still so much to be done for the wedding so I guess it can't go by too fast!

I completely understand! I started a new job about three months ago and my DIS time has been reduced a lot too. Lately I've been so tired when I get home I don't even have the energy to come on and catch up on my subscriptions. :sad1:

I'm really hoping we like Boma! We're both really excited to try it! :yay:

ANNUAL PASSES?!?!?!

So naturally, with two trips to Disney planned within a year’s time, I’ve been thinking about AP’s! I actually first started to think about getting us Annual Passes before the November trip was a reality. I figured that with 10 nights planned for the disneymoon, and the possibility of future trips after that, it would probably be a good idea. I had already thought about an anniversary trip in early June of 2012, and though we could probably fit another trip in at the first of the year – so AP’s would make sense, right? Well, figuring we wouldn’t be using an AP until next June, I thought I had plenty of time to decide. Even though it makes perfect sense – it’s still a big chunk of change to shell out all at once – especially for trips that aren’t a reality yet.

And then the November trip became official and I started to think that maybe it would be better to by AP’s now and be able to use them for two trips we’re positive we’re going to take, instead of buying them for three where two were just “ideas”.

I definitely feel like we would have more potential savings with an AP for the honeymoon thru June 2012 because that could possibly get us 3.5 weeks in the world and some amazing hotel discounts. Buying to use in November will only get us 2 weeks (but that’s two guaranteed weeks)…

See how I’m going back and forth?

To be honest, the savings from the tickets isn’t really what is attracting me to AP’s – it’s the hotel savings. Staying at the Poly, that typical 40% off AP rate would be really nice. As for November – it’s still up in the air whether or not AP rates will be available over the Thanksgiving period. I’ve read that some years they have offered them, while others they haven’t.

And of course, a little Disney math always helps make things clearer!

Here’s how our AP purchases would break down…

~ It will cost us about $1040 to buy AP’s (I believe they are currently at $520 a piece).

~ If we get AP’s, we’ll end up saving about $165 on tickets (that’s for the both of us, and is compared to a 4 day park hopper in Nov. and an 8 day park hopper in June).

~ Hotel savings would hopefully be 40% off rack rate in June. This June, general public discounts at deluxe resorts were 25%. So, the savings between a GP discount and an AP discount would be about $645 if we had an AP.

~ So, total savings in tickets and June accomadations would be $810! That’s a lot of money!

Still though - $1040 for APs is a lot of money to fork over all at once, and of course I would want to buy before the prices go up the first Sunday in August…Which means I need to decide soon!

So, help me out DISers! Is it worth it to buy APs now and have $810 in guaranteed savings, as opposed to waiting and possibly having more savings with more trips (although no guarantee)? :confused3

Oh n, it's the FUZZY DISNEY MATH !!!!:scared1:

I vote with the two guaranteed trips, and if the additional trips pan out, then you can just renew your passes.......although, is the AP room discount a guarantee??

:rolleyes1 just something to think about......

I went through the same thing earlier in the year, when I was planning my Disneymoon for May, and then knowing I'd be going again this November. I considered upgrading the tix I already had through the package to AP's when I got to WDW in May, but after doing all the math, it wouldn't have saved me that much. :confused3 Although, when I was thinking about the November trip back then, we were only going to go from a Sunday-Saturday, and now we are going Friday-Saturday, so that's 2 days I didn't add in back then!
:scared1:

I obviously didn't end up going for the AP's, but I probably should have! :confused3 So I don't have any advice for you, AP's seem like a good idea if you have more than one trip in a year, but they also seem confusing to me! :confused3 :rotfl2:

Love the pictures!!

I debated APs too, but didn't do it. I don't think the savings was enough for us, so I definitely think you have to look at it on an individual basis!

You know my vote!!!! Seriously, I know the money is a lot up front (going to cost $1500 for us!) but it is so nice knowing that your tickets are paid for on the next trip! Word of caution is that they are addictive and you will always be trying to figure out another trip!

Randy did inform me last night that we are getting APs for sure next year. He also mentioned that he didn't think for a second that I will last 15 months between trips so he anticipates that I will be doing some kind of girls weekend or something :scared1: Um ok...if you give me permission...I'm planning :rotfl2: see what I mean about them being addictive. I'm just mad I didn't renew my last one. They were offering $$$ off AND an extra 3 months to renew :sad2:

You know, if you aren't comfortable doing the money upfront....you could always buy 1 AP and get MAW tickets for the other person. Only 1 of you needs to have an AP to get the room discount.

Ok... if I have this all wrong I apologize... but here is what I am thinking.
You know APs will save you $810 on the current 2 trips you know you are going on. You are just wondering if you would save more if you waited and bought them for the honeymoon and the two future 'maybe' trips. Is the renewal price for an AP cheaper than buying a new AP? If so, you might have to extend your math to include the renewal and those 2 'maybe' trips. Then you would have your big picture idea of what makes sense. Hmmm, that was not very helpful, was it?
