I'm planning my daughters 5th birthday for January 2010--and want this to be an awesome, awesome Magical birthday trip for her.(my husband would say "over the top, lol) It's been over 20 years since I've been to WDW and this is my Dh's first trip too. We'll have my parents with us as well. She's very much into the princesses and Tink and all the playhouse disney characters.
I'd like to have a birthday party for her in the park but I can't find any info on it--I'd also like to know all the special things we can plan for her to surprise her--we're staying in one of the value resorts, but I'm not sure which one yet. We're going to book March 1st for the trip...which would be a better option for her birthday bash?
I've put in a quote request thru the pixies to see what they can come up with but I'd like to see if I can plan it instead...

love and magic

You can order her a cake thru disney dining. (See the restaurants board for the official birthday and anniversary cake thread). They tend to be quite pricey. I think it would be great to start her day of with the Bippity Boppity Boutique. They will give her a princess sash. You can bring her own dress prepurchased to save money. There is always the traditional birthday pin. That will get her some extra attention through the day. Make sure the restaurant that you will be eating at that day knows it's her bday. That will get her a piece of cake or a cupcake. There is no need to spend lots of money to celebrate her bday. Being in the parks is enough with some little extras added on. You'd be suprised what make a 5 year old happy.

How magical!!! I think its so fun to plan those kinds of birthdays. I suprised my DD for her 7th bday with a special weekend at Disney. Some things that I learned...

You can schedule your DD an appointment at Bippity Boppety Boutique (didnt spell that right at all) but they can doll her up like a princess.
Then have ADRs for breakfast at CRT for her to eat with Cinderella and friends on her birthday.

I think if its in your budget - let the pixies help a little, maybe later in the day. If you do the breakfast, she'll think her suprises are over and... there comes the pixies with even better suprises. If they could gather some characters to do a private autograph / photo session. that'd be so amazing, or have the mad hadder do a happy un-birthday for her - SO fun!

Keep us posted on what you decide to do!!

I have had such good advice here before for our birthdays. You can really do all sorts of neat things on all different sorts of budgets.

I would do a search on birthday ideas here. There are some amazing threads.

If she is turning 5 and is a princess fan definitely get her an appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. She will love it and they will give her a special birthday princess sash to wear. I would do it first thing in the morning and she can be a princess all day. Then maybe breakfast in the castle at Cinderella's Royal Table.

We celebrated our DD's 4th bday at Crystal Palce and that was fun. They bring out a card signed by the characters (Pooh and friends), a birthday cupcake, decorate the table and sing Happy Birthday. Chef Mickey's also is fun for a birthday. Donald presented my MIL a lovely cupcake on her birthday on our last trip. Maybe breakfast with the princesses and dinner with Mickey!

Definitely pick up a birthday button at Guest Services, you should also be able to get one at check in from your resort. Cast Members and park guests will wish her well all day! She can wear it the whole trip if she wants!

You can also order amazing cakes at the restaurants and resorts. Here is the cake thread... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1859670

Whatever you do, she will have an amazing time!!!

We are trying to plan the same thing for our DD's 5th b-day in 2010!

Tell me more about the pixies. I'm not sure I know what y'all are talking about.

Great thread!

What is this? I have never heard of it! I am taking my dd to Magic Kingdom on her birthday in June - stopping there for a day on our way to the Vero Beach Resort. She has no idea that we are going to Disney but made it a point for the last year to point out that we are in Disney all the time for her brothers birthday (in January). This will probably be the only time we ever go there for her birthday so I want to make it extra special for her!

Thanks!
