We are a family of six and I really, really want to be able to use FOTL so on our next Orlando trip I am going to try and swing 1 night on-site. My question is on whether it is a better discount for the hotel with AAA or with an Annual Pass? I know it is very far in advance for next August but I keep seeing that $86 pass for 7 days and might buy it now for then since it is such a good price....so if an Annual Pass is a better discount than AAA I would need one less of the $86 tickets.

Hope I explained this correctly!!! Thanks all - you are fountains of information here.

It varies. Sometimes it is AAA and sometimes it is Annual pass. However, since you will only be staying for one night and the price upgrade to an annual pass from the 7 day ticket is about $100, it is doubtful that the annual price room rate will be more than $100 less than the AAA room rate.

If you were planning on staying onsite for 3 days or so, then purchasing an annual pass might be to your advantage. In this case, it probably isn't.

Thanks for the info....I cant even look at prices right now. Is it usually about 10 months out than I can start checking (dont know where I got that from but it is in my head for some reason).

Thanks...

macraven - if you stay on site, 5 is the max per room for the hotels.

Yes, thanks macraven...I do realize I will need two rooms which is why I really need to find a discount. I am hoping for $200 per room per night or less....of course less would make me very happy!!

in the summer months, you can probably get RPR about $200 per nite with AAA discount

Im kinda hoping that since we are planning the end of August I might do a little better? Any chance?

Thanks!!

in the past years, the rates have gone down for the end of august.
school starts around aug 20 in florida this year.

i hope you catch a great deal for onsite hotels!

if you're thinking of getting the AP, those rates won't come out till 6 months prior. book the room at AAA rate, that way you HAVE it. when the APH rates come out, call and see if you can switch your res from AAA to APH rate (shouldn't be a problem). You should at least have the room booked already because they only "release so many rooms" at APH (and AAA) rates.
