Hello! I am new to posting on the DIS but have been a lurker for many years. I am planning a solo trip in late June for 9 nights/10 days staying at the Pop Century. I am thinking seriously about adding the premium plan which will gave me three meals and access to tours and recreation.

My son will be with his mom in California while I am there (I'm divorced) so I needed a trip to distract myself from missing him too much and wallowing at home!

I just wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone had ever done the premium plan solo and might have some tips for me? I love the idea of getting my photo taken with some characters but like some other people, I am hesitant.

Thanks!

Hey there! I am going to WDW for my first Solo trip in June!
Take a look at the things you might want to do and see how it compares with the cost of doing those things and getting the Deluxe DP. I have a feeling it will be significantly cheaper to stick with Deluxe and just pay for the things you want to do...though I have to say the premium plan looks awesome. For some reason I thought you couldn't get it at a value resort, but I could be wrong (it has happened before that I have been wrong lol)

I hope you enjoy your trip...and planning for it! I get to go for 8 nights (though I'm staying offsite).

Pop Century is a great place to stay, tho in June, it probably will be crowded with kids. I never really noticed a big deal, myself, but I've never gone in June.

Premium plan? as in dining??

10 days is certainly alot! Will you have a car? Are planning any other outings other than Disney?

Thanks for the responses! I am definitely excited about the trip. I am doing tons of planning. I'm starting to think the premium plan might be too much. I can get it staying at a value. I was starting to do meal reservations and to make the premium plan work out, I will need to maximize my meals as well as use as much of the premium plan options as I can. I've been to WDW more than a few times so I don't feel the need to check things off my list. I'm sort of looking at using the premium plan as a challenge!

I am heading out on my first solo trip in a couple of weeks and am excited. It is really nice to hear about the positive experiences from other solo trips.

I keep debating whether to make reservations for several places or not. I really think that I want to be very carefree on this trip and take it as it comes. If I want to eat somewhere, I can try and if it isn't in the cards, so be it. This is going to be very different as I usually have our park days and meals planned out.

Doing Disney rogue.....sounds kind of fun!

I went solo last summer for a weekend and it was awesome! You get to make your own schedule and eat where and when you want. I hope you have a great solo trip. Please tell how it went when you return!

Well, I guess I might as well update this thread. I don't know whether I am crazy or not but I have just today booked the Pop Century for a week on the Premium Plan. I leave Monday June 25 and return Monday July 2.

I am going to cram in as much dining, parks, and activities as I can. If anyone is interested I will be happy to do a trip report. I've never done one before though! A bit scared!

I would love to read a trip report when you get back.:thumbsup2

I like to see what others do on solo trips.

Congrats on your decision to do the premium plan. I did it last summer for one night and it was so memerable. You really want to read this whole thread before you leave.

I know it looks like alot and it is but the information included there is priceless. You want to pace yourself and not try to do too much. Maximize your credits by doing as many signature and dining shows as possible. Remember each meal counts as one credit whether it be quick serve or a dinner at the California Grill.

I really maximized it and for one night which I spent $349 on including a one night ticket, I got about $1300 of value out it.

Thanks for the replies! I am getting packed tonight and have read as much information as I can about the plan. It's been keeping me busy and my mind off of missing my son.

I have made plans to eat at California Grill tomorrow night and have a full day planned for the Magic Kingdom on Tuesday.

So I usually go with the dlx dining plan when I roll solo. I plan ahead enough so I can get reservations for what I want and usually at the time I want to eat tho. Usually I'm bringing my "breakfast" as some fruits, power bars n such and have something cold in a cooler or fridge in the room. A nice table service around 11-12 then a signature dinner around 6 holds me thru the day n night with the usual snack goodies thru the day. Do a bit of research on the restaurants and include the hotels for lunch also as they get overlooked a bit I think. Since your going solo u can take that extra time taking.the bus back n forth to the hotels at lunch n dinner. Do the stuff at your pace. I prefer sitting at the bar or counter if they have 1. Usually get decent.conversation from the bartender or chefs there. Rarely u might get a nice handout from them.
And just remember this is your solo trip. so u can focus on riding and seeing what u want to do which gives u that extra time needed to really enjoy that good food.
Remember to check the menus or better yet the food pic threadsomehwere over in the food/dining forum.

I appreciate all of the advice! I am definitely taking it to heart. We'll see how the rain affects my planning although I will not let it get me down in the least! Leaving in three hours and looking forward to a nice meal tonight at the California Grill!

Good for you doing the premium plan! I tried to convince my sister to do it when we were there in 2010, but she wasn't into it.

Sarahgirl is so right about the thread that she linked! It got me really into thinking about the premium plan.

I'd love to see a trip report!

Wow sounds great I'm staying solo at pop century in Sept so looking forward to trip report I've booked Cali grill for my last meal so will be interested in your thoughts on that too. Have fun :goodvibes

I'm going solo to WDW in mid-August. I chose Port Orleans Riverside and purchased the Premium Plan. My last trip to WDW was in 2001, when I went for my fifth straight year. I've done the solo thing before and loved it. Just wondering if anybody has done the Premium Plan and how they liked it.

I did the premimum plan last year and I was sure to take full advantage of as many of the perks offered :thumbsup2. There is so much you can do so plan you time . Make sure you are aware of all that is offered . Be sure to take full advantage of the dining and do a signiture resturant a day . I was not able to use all my food credits but made up for it golfing 10 rounds in 13 days.:woohoo: I had a ball . Make sue to call about the selected viewing for the fireworks or ask about them when you check in . The best part was being able to do things when I wanted to do them and not wait for someone to get ready or decide what they wanted to do . Freedom:cheer2: have fun :)
