Planners for 2008 - Join me here! UPDATE - List in OP!!!

Disney Planning Addict Confession- I purchased new swimsuits, cover ups, and beach towels to give to the kids on our trip this weekend.pirate:

Now the hard part is to not give them the "gifts" until you actually go. I have done the same thing. I hit the Disney store in Michigan during their semi annual sale every summer.

:lmao: For our last Disneyland trip I took a extra large suitcase FULL of stuff to give them during our stay. I like to do surprises for them to find after their afternoon swim.

That is exactly what I am planning to do. We have a big Disney Outlet here (actually owned by Disney) and I plan to hit it throughout the year and get stuff on the cheap. I figure that knowing they have a special "treat" waiting for them in the room each day will keep them from wanting to spend a fortune on souvenirs.

I just purchased our airline tickets, it feels so much more REAL now! :thumbsup2

Just added two days to our trip! :rolleyes1 Now we will arrive on Sunday March 9th instead of the 11th. After reading how crowded it is around Easter I just figured we need more time to do stuff!

Hey, we're arriving on the 10th! I need to change my ticker, we were planning on an arrival of the 12th when I made it. Every day counts right? :)

Allyson, we had the same problem when we surprised out two girls. We had been to Disney in Feb of 2003 and then ended up getting a good deal so we planned to go back in July 2003.

We figured we would surprise the kids and the both cried because they knew we were going but didn't know where. They said they wanted to go somewhere "new". I had to explain that they needed to stop crying so that the customs officer would believe us.

Did you convert Grumpy on the trip?

I have a Grumpy too. But he is the opposite. Grumpy at home, Doc at the World.

We will be going March 8-15/08. Where are you staying? Jo-Anne

Hey lots of March folks, maybe we'll all run into each other!

We are going to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter this time. We loved Pop but this trip is just the kids and I (Grumpy will be on a work trip to Peru) plus my Mom and Stepdad. We thought Stepdad (who can be quite the Grumpy himself at times, this ought to be an interesting trip, the man with zero patience does Disney) would prefer FQ (smaller, quieter so I hear) over Pop. My Mom is turning 60 on 3/17 so we will just celebrate a few days early. I want to make this super special for her, the woman does nothing for herself. Racking my brain over the perfect birthday dinner spot for us all.

Where are all of you March-ers staying?

And how funny that you can relate to our reveal! I wouldn't have it any other way, it makes for quite the story! This trip is not a suprise, they are enjoying being a part of the planning. We are already discussing what things we must do again and what things we don't want/need to.

Allyson :)

Hi Allyson

If Stepdad needs it quiet, why don't you check out renting a DVC resort. I loved the peace and calm of Saratoga and it might be comparable to staying at Port Orleans.

Check out the DIS points charts and figure out how many points your stay would need, then compare what that would cost you to your Port Orleans reservation. Rentals run between $10-12 per point but there is no sales tax on the DVC rental. You can add your tickets and dinning to a DVC rental.

The DVC studio has kitchettes in the rooms so that you can eat breakfast in the room and I find that makes for a more relaxing trip with the kids. We can be out of the room and waiting for the bus to the parks in an hour. Plus it cuts down on the cost.

I am a DVC member and have rented points in the past and I could give you some tips if you like.

We will be staying at Old Key West in March with friends that are flying in from Denver.

Hi Everyone,
New to the boards... :wave2:

We're "planning" to visit Disney for the first time with our boys in late April/early May '08. How soon can you actually book ? I tried to get a quote online and it said I was outside the date range...

We will be staying at the Polynesian resort I believe...looks like it has a lot to offer for everyone. We'll be taking Amtrak to get to FL as I'm a chicken and won't get on a plane. :rolleyes1

Allyson we are celebrating DH's 40th birthday on the 16th and I'm also driving myself crazy trying to decide on the perfect birthday dinner!:dance3:

Hey Crue2001 you can call (Disney) right now and reserve your room but have to wait to book the whole package. I think around July/August the rates should be out but ask when you call. We live in Delaware and drive to Disney when we go because I am like you I hate to fly.

Hi there! We'll be there late May `08 but we're staying offsite (i know, i know :scared1: ) so we already have our condo booked. But like someone else said, you can book a room now and change it to a package later.

Thanks everyone for the info...I just called this morning and "reserved" a garden view room at the Poly for April 20-25th '08....the May dates I wanted were booked all except for the concierge level and that was a bit too pricey for me. The reservation lady told me that she expects the '08 rates will be out sometime in May...thought I'd pass that along. :)

Hi everyone! OP here! I somehow lost my subscription to this thread, and I kept forgetting to go back and look for it when I logged in. A lot of new folks have joined us here in the planning madness! Welcome!!!!

So, I'm now working on a complete list of those going in 2008. I'm done page three, so only 9 more to go!

I'll let you know when it's done!

OK, I've made a list (and checked it twice)!

Check out the first post to see who is going and when they'll be there.

If I made a mistake, or you need to add/change your info, just post or PM me. I'll keep updating!
