Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Does anyone know if you can book your 3 LLMP selections for later in the day at one park and then go to a different park in the morning with the intention of not using any LLs at the first park?

I realize this is NOT the strategy to use to maximize the number of lightning lanes you can get in a day or even optimize getting the “best” ones. I know that booking early lightning lanes at one park “unlocks” the ability to book any tier ride at other parks for the 4th, 5th, etc. However, i just want to know if it’s possible. I am making the following assumptions: Ticket does not require park reservations and it’s a park hopper ticket.

Yes that works just fine. And as a reminder you can even change your park for your initial LLMP selections if you decide to try to use them in your First park of the day. I would not recommend this but you are able to make the change.

The VQ for Rise of the Resistance ended 9/23/21. I saw articles about it dated 9/16/21, so I think that was the date they announced it.

The VQ for Remy's Ratatouille Adventure ended 1/10/22. I saw articles about it dated 1/6/22, so I think that was the date they announced it.
Thanks for the responses - if I go ahead with the LLMP, I'll book Tiana and see how the day unfolds. We have a 10 day visit, so there's not a lot of time pressure, but I loved the old Fastpass system and the "privilege" of being in the fast lane, so will book at least one day (MK) using the LLMP. Still painful to pay on top of the crazy ticket pricing, but here we go!

Hello, thank you all for the updates and information. I have a couple questions and I am sorry if they have been answered before. I didn't find the answers but have not read the whole thread.
1. Can you cancel/get refund if you purchase in advance and then decide not to use it? I mean in advance not day of. my window will open on July 31 and I have 6 park days planned. I hate to waste money we decide half way through we want to start at a different park, or if we don't want to go all day and don't need it for a day.
2. My daughter really wants to ride Tiana. I have a dining reservation that is not really that important on one of the planned MK days. I also believe the ADR could be rebooked easily. Would it be beneficial to cancel it so as to not have the system block out time?

Thank you for any and all replies

I’ll throw my question in here as well.

We will be staying on site so we will be able to start purchasing LLMP 7 days out from our check in day, for the length of our stay. That I understand. However we plan on going to the parks on our check out day. Will I be able to purchase LLMP at the 7 day mark for our check out day?

Officially the answer is No on canceling for a refund. Lightning Lane passes are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

To make changes, tap the Lightning Lane Passes section on the app’s home screen to find your plans. Then, you can:
  • Change your selected park and/or date in advance (subject to availability)—up until the moment you redeem your first Lightning Lane selection of the day.
  • Change each selected experience and/or arrival window in advance (subject to availability)—up until the start of the arrival window

The conflict resolution ability with ADRs has been somewhat hit or miss so far. What ADR do you have booked in the MK? Yes it would be easier to get your LLMP / LLSP booked without worrying about your ADR time.

Yes as long as your check-out date is not more than 14 days away from your first check-in date.

Someone may have answered this but are we treating this just like hard to get dining reservations...start from the last day of your trip and work backwards? (When dining was hard to get anyway)

Also if you're planning to do that for let's say a 7 day trip...you're doing it all in one shot correct? Get that last day set...work backwards each day assuming you want a pass for each day...then go back and start modifying each day to your heart's content?
I have read several bloggers who said book in this order- MK, HS, Epcot, and AK- this is based on attraction popularity and an availability supposedly.

We have a breakfast at Crystal Palace and there appears to still be plenty of availability. We are only a party of 3 and it is not a deal breaker. We plan to go to MK on the 2 party days on our trip since we have hoppers and those days historically tend to be a little less crowded. We are not attending MSNSSHP. We will try to go over one other evening during the week to catch fire works and a couple late night rides if we are up for it.

It seems like the blogger how to videos are always showing how easy it is to get additional/modify for 1 person. Isn't this a little misleading? Most people are not going to be booking for just 1 person. Most likely it will take more modifying for family groups, even couples. I wish they show the process for a group of 4, or whatever the average size Disney group is.

Ear Scouts did with Genie + but I think it is too new for him to have videos with the LLMP, I would guess that he will do some in the future.

The app shows availability and makes it seem like you can book again, which surprised me as well. But when I tried, it let me click on the time but then on the next page where you select which people, our names were greyed out and it said I had already rode it with LL that day. So booking the same ride multiple times aren't actually possible, it just looks that way and can be kind of deceiving. Got me excited for a while though when I first saw it :rotfl:
Thanks for clarifying! That's what I suspected but never pushed through to find out.

Ear Scouts has a great initial video out for LLMP! It doesn't cover bigger groups yet, but I have been playing with the tricks both he and Molly have shown using a group of 3, and they seem to work just fine. I was also reassured by some of the same-day drops I stumbled upon!

Not really there is no way for them to test with groups. They would need to have additional member in their Group with valid tickets and purchased additional LLMP selections for each member in these larger (test) groups.

Logically it does not make sense unless they have unlimited funds.

Molly did a large group test with Genie, and it worked exactly the same for groups up to 10, I believe. Not sure if this will work the same way, but I'm reading bloggers who are saying it's not about number of guests (to a certain point), but about number of allocated slots.

Here's how the new system worked for me:
On the 24th I bought LLMPs for 7 people for the 25th and booked our first three rides at HS. Millennium Falcon was our Tier 1 choice. Toy Story and Star Tours were the other two. We ended up doing MF first and immediately booked RnR Coaster for two of the adults and Mickey & Minnie's Railway for the other 5 of us. After Toy Story we booked Twilight Zone for 2 and Slinky Dog Dash for 5. We also booked B & the Beast's 12:30 show (not at all necessary, but used it just because we had it) and our final booking was for Alien Swirling Saucers. We could have booked Frozen at any time but didn't because we walked into the 9:30 am show before our MF booking. Some of our rides were available to book a second time during the day, including MF, but we chose not to. Overall I found that it was very worth it - boy was it HOT that day! - and if we didn't have three kids with us I can imagine that the adults would have used it on some rides more than once (at least MF, since that kept showing).
Thanks for posting this. Is it possible to split up the LL’s like you did in the park with MMRR and RnRC when you do the prebooking or can you only do that once you start your replacements in the park?

i THINK if im interpreting it right, i can now see on thrill data which are open-this seems new on their website https://www.thrill-data.com/lightning-lane
I'm having a little trouble interpreting the data, since I've not spent a lot of time on Thrill Data. Looking at today only, it would appear that Tiana's had some available until just a short time ago. Could that be correct? Also, when hovering over a particular data point (blue dot), does the first value, "Time", refer to the time the ride was checked by the Thrill Data algorithm? TIA
