Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

This means that I cannot stack multiple passes for the evening if I have not used my first pass at the park.
Disney strategy of getting people in the parks and keeping them there?
What happens when you book a Tier 2 first and someone in your party sleeps in and doesn't scan.
"You snooze you lose", Cancel that one and move the party along.
Makes it challenging to do much on arrival day, or enjoy a resort day, or go to a waterpark, and show up later
Pick your poison
there goes sleeping in during vacation.
Not compatible with the above itinerary

Just kidding, :rotfl2:, totally get where your coming from.
I think everything is in transition- when to go, length of stay, what's important, finding balance of value vs expectations.

To me, the big difference is that people are not visiting those parks for 6,7,8+ days in one visit like they often do at WDW. The amusement parks you mentioned are 1 day (maybe 2) and Universal maybe 4?

Completely changes the dynamic of what can be charged for their “skip the line system”. At least that’s how I see it.
I don't see how it makes any difference, it is still a per day charge that the guest has to absorb. You budget your theme park trips per day. If your budget is a one day park, fine ... if it is a 7 day park, fine. You budget is what you can afford. I see no reason why Disney couldn't charge as much as those others for the bigger parks, like Magic Kingdom OR for the hopper Multi Pass. I think what they have been charging is quite reasonable. Hopefully it doesn't go up much more. My only question is will the advance selection pass be more expensive than day of pass. I would hope so.

I guess I am missing people saying they 'hate' Disney. Change can be difficult and upsetting, as you have to relearn a new system.

I am a Universal AP holder. I used to have a Disney AP also pre-covid, not any more. I never buy the express pass at Universal, and rarely stay in one of their premier hotels for it. I have not needed it. Universal has a lot more single rider lines.

I usually only bought G+ for DHS, and it worked really well for me. Maybe once for MK, but lately I just attend the after hours events and parties there instead. It doesn't sound like getting lightning lane for the day (I stay offsite) is going to get me many rides.
People are literally trashing Disney for "charging for what was free" and the "extra cost on top of already expensive tickets' "driven by greed" "money hungry" ......

Yes there is change but it actually is quite minimal. It is a merging of the FP+ and Genie+ system. It's not that hard. Folks just want to complain.

I have never bought for Universal either but I've also had to skip many lines because they were so long or got caught in some that just were simply unbearable (Hogwart's Express). Many people can not split their party (me) for single rider lines.

I like that.

My concern is booking something for after lunch and having a delay being seated timely or service being slow so we do not get out of the restaurant at our expected time
The example photograph Disney shared showed a 1 hour slot just like G+ and FP+. You can always modify your selection if you are running behind, or try your luck with a grace period. Usually cast members are pretty understanding when things happen within reason, the exception of course being rides like Tron which are very strict.

My only question is will the advance selection pass be more expensive than day of pass. I would hope so.
I actually sort of doubt it because there will be much less to choose from when purchased day of so the value proposition will be lower.

What happens when we use up the 3 selections and we have a park hopper..can we add more selections at the new park?

What if 3 family members actually tap into a tier 2 ride but it is cancelled for the 4th (sleeping in)? Can all 4 try to get a tier 1 ride or is the 4th person only allowed a tier 2 ride since they did not actually tap in?
I believe person 1, 2, and 3 can select another tier 1 ride. Person 4 is still in the pre-selection mode (which only allows one tier 1), so he would have to use or surrender his current tier 1 in order to get another tier 1.

My only question is will the advance selection pass be more expensive than day of pass. I would hope so.
I would hope NOT, more motivation to advance buy if cheaper. That would also reduce day of purchase competition.

It WILL be more than current G+ pricing, I think the reason Disney has manipulated the up/down price of G+ is to find out what amount people are willing to pay.

It is my understanding Guests will only know the cost for MP at that 7 day mark.

I just booked a last minute August trip to use my DVC points and AP before they expire. I'm wondering if I'll even need to buy LLMP for my visit but may buy it as a test run before the big family trip next year.

VQs will stay the same.
Yes, VQ continues.
Thank you both. I haven't been to WDW since Feb 2023 and plan to go back in Feb 2025 - I just jumped on today to start planning and imagine my surprise - everything changed again LOL ....I don't even know which rides have VQs (I think it was just Guardians and Rise when I was there in Feb '23)

This was going to be my initial time using Genie so I am not familiar with the current window allowed
To be safe, just plan for the exact one hour period. I was never late to my G+ so not sure about the grace period for tardiness. However, I was often early and was never allowed to enter before the designated time. The time is linked to the magic band. If tapped early, the tapping point would turn blue (wrong color), and the CM would tell you to step aside.

Can anyone tell me if there will even be VQs after July 24th?
As above, yes. Remember that the VQ is actually the standby line. Getting a VQ group allows you to “stand” in that line without actually physically standing in it until the last bit (which may be 45-60+ minutes, but that’s better than 3+ hours!).
