Places to get away inside the parks?

My anxiety has been really bad the past 6 weeks and I'm worried about having an anxiety attack in the park. Can you recommend places that are more quiet in each park that I can go and cry/put my head between my knees until I'm ok? I'll be taking my meds with me but they take time to kick in. And bathrooms are no good because I tend to freak out worse in a small space like a bathroom stall.

Others will probably chime in with some out of the way places around the park. That's not something I have ever been looking for, so I'm not much help there.

However, if you can hold it together to get there, the first aid stations are an option. My friend has to use them from time to time for a quiet, cool, dark place to lay down for 15-30 min until her migraine meds kick in. They have some private rooms, and some curtained off areas with two cots that are often empty. Just tell them you need a quiet private place for a bit until your meds start working and they should be able to accomodate you. All they ask is you write down your name and reason for visiting in the log book, so they can track usage.

In MK, we like the paths on either side of the castle where there are benches and are 'out of the way' even though a path runs by them.

In Epcot World Show Case, we like the International Gateway exit (has benches). There are many others, but will let others chime in.

The best to you - anxiety attacks are no picnic!

My suggestions are

Magic Kingdom... By Crystal Palace Restroom outside. It always seems to be very quiet there and not a lot of traffic

Epcot..... There are some nice quiet benches near Imagination/Figment

Animal Kingdom... I found back by Lion King to be quiet

Hollywood Studios during non show time near Lights Motor Action.

I hope this helps. I find these areas to relax and get a few quiet minutes to enjoy where I am.

I have found that if you ask a nearby CM they often have ideas. I also srcond the First aid idea. I go there I DL as well to calm myself after anxiety attacks.

Thanks so much everyone. I'll write all these down in my notebook. :flower3: Hopefully this trip will be all flowers and rainbows.

Thank you for asking this! I too suffer from pretty severe anxiety and have started to worry that doing everything for my children (who have autism and tend to stress in park-like situations) will throw me into an attack. Hopefully will be close by to one of these quiet areas should anything happen :)

My favorite quiet place at Epcot is in the square behind England. You can get to it following the 'street' or out the door at the last shop. I think the last shop is the perfumery.

For WDW -
The Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities has a list of 'quieter break' areas. Here is a link to the guidebook.

Post 26 on page 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread has a list of attractions that are good places to cool off. Many of them are not that busy, so have shorter waits or are quiet.

I just finished reading this guide and it was very helpful. I needed to find places for my granddaughter to cool off. Where can I get a copy of this book?
Thanks! :)

You can save a copy to your computer, print it out or save it to sn iPad/tablet/smart phone.

We did not look for a copy in the parks when we were at WDW last because it had just come out. You should be able to get a copy in a Guest Relations at any of the parks.

People have mentioned parts of Disneyworld but what about Disneyland. Even though I've had annual passes for a while and always go with the GAC changes I need a place for my autistic son to get away to wait.

My son loves the Main Street Cinema.
