I have an upcoming cruise and want to purchase place holders but was wondering if I purchase 2 place holders am I allowed to use them on a back to back cruise?
Thank you, that is disappointing news but at least we will get to book when leg of the cruise using a place holder. If your cabin has two guests from different home addresses, each can book a cabin. Then you could sail together on a future B2B, listing one person as the lead guest on one cruise, the other in the next.
If solo, No.
If you live at same address, No.
(It‘s the street address, not the last names, that matters.)
I have been able to book a b2b with placeholders from the same cruise previously. So it may depend who you get on the phone.
I have done this in the past but recently (last 2 months) trying to book placeholders from one sailing on more than one sailing has failed - at least one CM when I called told me that they can't do that anymore (assuming there was a way in the past but maybe that is under crackdown).I have been able to book a b2b with placeholders from the same cruise previously. That’s really interesting as mine were last year when I booked them.I have done this in the past but recently (last 2 months) trying to book placeholders from one sailing on more than one sailing has failed - at least one CM when I called told me that they can't do that anymore (assuming there was a way in the past but maybe that is under crackdown).
yes in early 2022 and even summer 2022 I was able to do the separation but not currently. Technically, the rules say you are supposed to use them on the same sailing so I am not upset at all. I just have to plan better now and get smarter on when I book things. That’s really interesting as mine were last year when I booked them.
If you booked the second one as "TBD" (to be determined), you can use the placeholder for someone else. Can be parents, friends, etc. Thanks thats good to know.
Any idea on when you use the 2 state rooms on one cruise (which is our plan), can the 2nd room be in the name of someone besides myself and my wife? (we were the 2 in the stateroom at time of booking)

So per room I think you will be okay getting 2 per room and using them on two different sailings.Yeah, I'm trying to figure this out for our upcoming sailing. We have 2 rooms, so I would think we get 4 placeholders, 2 for one cruise and 2 for another. But the rooms are mixed families for Platinum purposes. I just plan to go to Guest services and figure it out. I'm not sure if my in-laws need a placeholder or not - so we might end up each getting one.
I had assumed you could use them on two different sailings.

Guess I'll just be booking one placeholder on my halloween cruise and another on the christmas cruise LOLTechnically, no you cannot use them on separate sailings. Each household on the current cruise can book up to 2 placeholders with the expectation that both will be used on the same cruise. Without looking it up for exact quote, that's essentially the wording. If there is a second household represented on the current cruise (for example friends or mother-daughter who don't live together), then each can book 2 placeholders and Joe's placeholders can be used on a different cruise than John's placeholders.
Years ago there was an exception for B2B cruises. But that exception was removed even before the pandemic. That doesn't mean some folks didn't get lucky and managed to use the 2 placeholders on separate cruises, and it sounds like possibly DCL has managed to either find a way to block that or trained CMs not to do it. But it has always been against the "rules" to use the 2 placeholders on separate cruises.
