PizzeRizzo opens this fall!

It looks like in some of the older pictures there is a number in window paint on the front, but in the picture from yesterday it's only on the menu.

So how do you convert that? Just 727-4996? With a 407 area code up front?

The inside looks about as unimpressive as I expected - how little did they spend redoing this? No menu change (save 2 desserts), no major decor...it is a workmanlike restaurant in a park focused on the magic and immersion of movies...

While it may not have a lot muppet theming it has a New York style theming which is way better than what was there before. I wouldn't say there isn't no major decor.

Right, we have theming that doesn't match the food. NYC theming was the cheaper way out (vs Muppet theming or making the Toy Story theme "right") and not adopting NYC pizza was also the cheaper way out...and Disney chose both.

If I saw a NYC pizzeria, I'd expect NY-style pizza. Even if the previous pizza was good (which is wasn't), keeping it the same is ridiculous to me as a customer...Pizza is its OWN cuisine across the country and if you're gonna ape a region, you better get their pizza-style right...

It looks like a lot of work for very little actual improvement. Oh well, not like I went to Pizza Planet anyway (I still don't understand why they never had a pizza burger at WDW - people would've eaten that up literally and figuratively).

Disney doesn't have something to base this off of. Sure it should have a muppet theme but there is no actual PizzeRizzo restaurant in the show or movies. Generic muppet theming wouldn't be any better than toy story.

So, then make real NYC-style pizza. At least that shows a little care. There's a reason NY-style pizza (and Chicago-style pizza) are famous - they are beloved by large segments of the population. So, if you're saying, I'm gonna make a NY-style pizza place, for goodness sakes, serve NY-style pizza!!! That's not hard and you can visit a 100 places in NYC to find out how...

It's like opening up a Philly cheesesteak place and sticking a large, uncut crappy beef cut on a bun with parm cheese and calling it a cheese steak - there'd be huge disappointment...

Right. Just looking at recent openings such as Be Our Guest and Skipper's Canteen and the food matches the theme in both style AND taste. This looks like lousy Disney pizza.

I agree on the pizza, I was talking about theming.

Workmanlike ...

Are you freaking kidding? I call this a theme park disaster.

Not that I would refuse to eat there or anything, but is this supposed to be a popular and friendly restaurant run by zany puppets or a soup kitchen set up on a very, very tight budget?

I was giving it my nicest, most optimistic sentiment...in my honest moments, I'd have called it like you did above (but I save that for when I personally am in it:)...

To me, it looked like a way to save on cleaning and decor...it's very cheap for signs and plain tables and printed photos and these almost never need to be cleaned...less decor, less manpower...

And it's no surprise the only highlights of the menu are now items that are not included on the normal meal plans - seems Disney has to try to sell the desserts again...

Are they joking with this?

What was the point in doing this? How could they visit this place and have any pride in their lack of accomplishment?

I see this was a quick and clean conversion. With the changes to the arcade laws we saw the death of Pizza Planet. As the arcade shrunk and became sadder Disney decided to pull the plug on the arcade. Since the Arcade was gone there was no reason to keep the open space (which allowed the sound to travel to the second floor and entice guest up there to come play arcade games.) Disney also figured they would need more food seating in this area of the park once Star Wars opened up. Add as much seating as you can became the plan. Since Pizza Planet was an odd fit for that section and Muppets was the closest attraction they took the opportunity to tie it in. But they are on a budget and the goal was increased seating so nothing fancy just economical touches.

That being said I wish more was done. Even if it was something as simple as windows/screens that showed the Muppets going about their day. I would say showing Rizzo's family making pizza but remembering Muppets Take Manhattan that would probably cause people to loose their appetite. The small memorabilia is nice but doesn't feel like it's enough. I want Animal teeth marks on a pillar with Dr. Teeth graffiti near it. Where are the signed head shots of Miss Piggy or flyers for Kermit's next production? I also thought for a bit that a character breakfast would be neat, but that would be tricky to pull off. Aside from Sweetums it would difficult to have the Muppets make the rounds. The cost of talented and accurate sounding puppeteers would be hard to recoup.

"Doesn't feel like it's enough"

I'll say. The photo shows a room that will seat around 100 people and it doesn't have a single piece of memorabilia or any other theming or decor whatsoever.
