Pizza Party for 20 not for 80!

We pay for our own family, including our own player. We are never offended. Usually it is an all you can eat buffet an a local pizza place.

I'm completely shocked that you would even be paying for the kids pizza, because as a coach you have offered your gift of time all season, right?

Around here, no one would ever let a coach pay for the end of year party. We figure out where we are celebrating, determine the cost per person, and also collect for the coaches gift.

For example, this year it will be in someones home, catered at a cost of 7.50 per person, and we all chip in $10 for the gift (too little if you ask me!). Everyone is more than happy to pay their share.

me too!

I cant imagine having a coach pay for pizza. We usually do an end of the year party for hockey and we each chip in $5 bucks for pizza and $10 for coaches gift/trophies.

Add me to the shocked. We would never let a coach pay either.
We just had our end of season Fall Ball party, the parents chipped in for a gift and the party.

The other advice is good though if you are paying. Make sure it is real clear up front and I don't think anyone would be offended.

As a parent I wouldn't be expecting the coach of any team to pay for the end of season party so I think what you are doing is very generous.

Wow! I wish more parents were like you guys. DH coaches baseball(spring and fall) and basketball. I think the parents handled the end of season party one time in the last 5 years. Every other time, my DH foots the bill.

Why not just say we are planning an end of year party and it is X amount of money per person?

My kids teams have always made it clear that they are buying pizza and soda for the kids. Then as parents, we buy our own. We go to straw hat on Tuesday's because all pizza's are half price.
I would let parents know ahead of time, maybe on a flyer. I wouldnt do money per person, because I hate being in the position to collect. Then I have to go around and ask over and over for parents to put in their share. If everyone buys their own pizza, then its less stress for me and they get what they want.
For trophies, parents pitch it and buy their own child a trophie and we ask for a few extra dollars to cover the coache's gifts.

My daughter was in soccer for 4 years -- we always went dutch for the final party (we even paid for my DD).

Nena,

So nice to see you here! I will have the flyer for the kids tomorrow, and won't put you in charge of collecting money:rolleyes: You know how it can be, I didn't want to spend a gazillion dollars, because I can tend to do that if left unrestrained.

We will be having it at Pizza Hut, and we reserved the room for 1:30 on Saturday. See you then:thumbsup2

Well hi there Avery's mom!! That is too funny, I didnt even connect the dots. You know me I always have something to say and just put in my two cents where I thought they would count for something.

You have been so generous not only with your time, but also with your wallet. Please do not feel obligated to buy us parents pizza, we can buy our own!! I'm off to look for Pizza Hut Coupons!!:cool1:

I did not read all the responses but for dd's swim team party, the organizers just put in the evite that Swim Team Members were free and everyone else was $5/person for pizza, salad, drink & cookies. Good luck! It never even occurred to me to be offended so hopefully that would be the same response from your team.

My DH coached for several years and I was the scorekeeper for baseball and softball teams. We used whatever was left from passing the hat. Most years we had to pitch in about $50 of our own to help pay the pizza bill--and we always had to pitch in extra for ice cream days.

My DD ran Cross country this year and we received a letter in the mail stating that they were having a dinner at the school. The runners and coaches were free--all others were to pay $12 for the meal and we were to RSVP by 3 days before event. I appreciated knowing in writing the expectations.
