I also replied to the HIFS board . I am a parent of a disabled child who has mulitple costs and therapies... we skimp and cut where we can so that my daughter can once a year get to experience a vacation where she can be a normal child!! We have to stay at hotels with zero-entry pools so she xcan go swimming.... but we can't afford huge amounts of money!

You may have a great paying job and healthy kids... but I gaurantee I deserve to be at HIFS more than you. I work a full time job, I then go home every night and I suction, diaper, hand feed, and excercise my 7 year old whom I must carry and do everything for!

I think you need to sit back and just be grateful that you have healthy walking and talking children who can tell you they love you and hug you back.

I am just sick of you making the rest of us feel like we are scum because we look for a deal!
Fine... if you have money to burn... my child needs a $5000 walker, a $2300 umbrella stroller and countless other necessities this year alone... all of which are not covered my insurance!

I apologize to everyone else for my vent but I can not deal with the negativity of this individual anymore.

I'm tired of the pizza party coupon shilling. The true motivation behind "giving" someone a free pizza party coupon is to put your little name on it and thus get future discounts at HIFS for yourself. In the end, I suspect that the reason that people were so kind to misinform me about the quality of that facility was simply so that I'd be another 'kill' on someone's coupon chart.

It's not right. It's misleading. I may say some inflammatory things on occassion, but I don't go around tricking people into thinking that the HIFS is some great hotel just so that I can get a discount for myself.

tigger2on: Those who look for a deal aren't "scum" as long as they don't mislead others so as to get their deals. Make sense?

Although I basically skimmed through the other thread and didn't read it in it's entirety, I agree with many of the points you've made. In the grand scheme of things, why not pay a few more dollars per night for better quality accomodations? But when I think of good quality, a Holiday Inn does not come to mind. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being critical of the choice you made, however, no matter what anyone may say, I still see Holiday Inn as a budget hotel or on the lower end of the moderate category at best. That's why we're staying at the Beach Club. Yes, I'm paying a pretty penny but I've also been able to secure a discount. Why pay rack rate? That being said, I wouldn't want a dirt cheap room at the BC if that meant that the other amenities were substandard. I believe that for the most part, one gets what they pay for. But I do love a bargain. It's why I shop at Costco. I shop side by side my more affluent neighbors. Guess they like a bargain too.

Do I think you got what you paid for? Nope. At $184 per night I feel you were ripped off. If you had paid $99, then I'd say that would've been a fair price.

Forgive me if this question has been asked (remember, I didn't read the entire thread) but I'm curious. Why didn't you get a room at Boardwalk or Beach Club Villas that would be spacious enough for your family?

As for inflammatory comments, I think your message got lost in the superfluous comebacks you made. But again, I did get your point. Sorry you had a bad experience and that your next will be a better one.

Or, some of us actually like what we get for the price we get, or we prefer to spend our money on other things and the value/moderate class Holiday Inn suits us just fine.

Tigger2on, I have PM'd you. Your post forced me to come out of lurkerville and finally register. All I can say is "you go girl!!!".

After lurking at other boards I was beginning to think I was the only one who traveled frugally.

It's nice to know there are others out there, actually going to Disney, who are doing so on a budget and still find joy in it.

To answer your questions:

Boardwalk was not big enough. 6 year old, 3 year old, and 7 week old needed more than one large room. Seperation was key to sleeping.

Beach Club Villas was about price. Starting at $540+ a night? Too much. For our week's stay, that's 8 months of BMW payments.

As for the 'comebacks', I had to defend myself against those who discriminate against the rich. African Americans can. Women can. So can misunderstood VP's.

You can't take your blinders off for one second (on your Rolex) to see that you have very little (if any) support on this board. The PURPOSE of the DIS is to help others with similar interests. If you had simply made your initial comments about the HIFS, and perhaps answered a few questions without being so rude, then you may have contributed to this board and the DIS in a positive and helpful manner.
There are others who have been able to critisize the HIFS without pissing so many people off. All you had to do was a quick search on the HIFS and you could have read those posts for your self. OH, I forgot, you are far too busy, what with being a VP and all, to spend time researching your trip! Well, your seem to have a lot of time now.

Fact is you're overly sensitive and it's something that I'm sure you've been told many times. Don't take your inferiority complex and frustrations about finances out on others.

For the record, I never claimed that there was anything wrong with those who clip coupons and try to save some money. I do it myself. What I said was that the HIFS would be better served by not offering discounts to that crowd and instead take their prices up and take the service levels up and compete on QUALITY, not PRICE.

News flash: The ownership of the HIFS agrees with me! On a $5000 vacation, what's another $300 to get the hotel up to par? Spend another $30 a night next year and you'll see what I mean. It'll be better for all of us.

I remember that one specifically since I responded to it. You see, James, no one disputes your right to dislike the HIFS. However, we also have a right to enjoy the hotel since it suits our needs. It is not an "inferiority complex" that you are getting over and over, it is the fact that you seem totally unaware and are refusing to acknowledge your part in the discussion.

is rude, and said merely to get a response and, by the way, is not FACT. I find it offensive, and it was not directed at me. Perhaps you should go back and read K's post.

And, said again, for some of us, an extra $30 a night for 5, 6, 10 nights could be the break point. Personally, I'd rather be at Disney in a Holiday Inn, a Magic Castle, a Tropical Palms, a Motel 6, you name it---than not be at Disney at all.
