Pixie Hollow id Dead!!!!

Several people returned this week from an Adventures By Disney trip to California, including members of the DIS Unplugged podcast (and the owners of the DISboards). They spoke with the Imagineers about the Fantasyland expansion, and they were told how things were changing - at least for now:

They are not exactly scaling back the expansion in general. They ARE scaling back the fairies m&g area ("Pixie Hollow"). Instead, Toontown will be changed to a circus theme, with three big "tents" with the m&gs.

So it does sound like Toontown is just going to get a makeover.

No word on Dumbo relocation though...

This is what I have been saying PH that was proposed is Dead! They are just getting a M&G, also I said Dumbos location is up in the air. So this just further confirms what I have been saying.

I am pretty sure, as it says near the top of the page, that you said "Pixie Hollow id(is) Dead!!!!"

You were suggesting that is was eliminated from the expansion, not that any plan was changing and it was still being kept in one form or another. This is certainly what your thread title suggests.

The vast majority of recent branding has been girl centric - The fairies and The princesses. Further, and this is the source of the reputation, most of Disney channel is tween girl focused. Hannah Montana, That's so raven, witches of waverly place, many of the cartoons... there are a TON. A large majority of Disney Channels audience is girls.

Yes Disney Channels majority audience is girls, and Disney have realised that which is why Disney XD is far more boy targetted.

Disney are aware of their girl focus and are working on it!

Cannot stand the fairy thing-ugh. Big frickin' deal. You get to pose with a bunch of fairies no one ever heard of until some genius (the word genius being used very facetiously) decides it's necessary to use valuable space for this bunch of crud. It's probably the worst idea I've seen at WDW since I began going to Disney world in 1973. It looked like some kids who decorate for the high school prom did the decorating.
RIP

If you read the whole thread I said it was being scaled back to a simple M&G PH that was proposed is dead.

I suggest next time you suggest a better title and not predict the future or claim something is fact that is only a rumor.

pixie hollow isn't supposed to be done until 2013 at the earlierst. The rest of the announced stuff isn't supposed to be ready until late 2012. right now there really isn't anything in the area but a bunch of dirt. However, it will look really bad if WDW scales back on what they already publicly announced Once the public knows, it's a done deal. and any cutbacks won't go over well with guests.

Once the public knows, it's still not a done deal. By all accounts Tom Staggs in unhappy with the girl slant of Fantasyland so they're looking at several options instead of Pixie Hollow.

The general public doesn't pay attention like we do. If Disney pulls Pixie Hollow it's because the fairies are not the draw Disney expected. A few people might care but I don't think the vasy majority will. Disney won't leave an obviously empty space. Either they will replace Pixie Hollow with another attraction or the abandoned area will be made to blend in seamlessly.

To those talking about how Fantasyland is very girl-centric, I'd have to agree to disagree since the attractions there are family attractions. The meet and greets being set up, yes, are going to be very girl-centric. Fantasyland's rides are classics for everyone, its just the characters there that are mainly for girls, though I've definitely met Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum a few times.

But let's be honest here, I don't think a little boy would get frantically excited to meet Prince Charming or Prince Eric, at least I know I wouldn't have...

The fairies are a huge draw at DL and WDW. and it's not just tinker bell that draws them. I was in line waiting just last week and the kids in front of me and behind were talking about hoping that rosetta and silvermist were there becasue they missed them last time. oh and there were several young men in line just as excited as the girls to see them. actually I would love to see them over at AK. Pixie hollow would be a fun addition over there.

Well I do agree that building Pixie Hollow is kind of a gamble for Disney. Ariel and Belle have always been and will always be popular, so their homes and areas make sense. Tinkerbell is a big draw, but to waste so much time and money on "the other ones" seems like a waste and Disney has so many other characters that would serve them better as new additions to the park.

I think what Disney liked was the idea of gradually getting smaller. It makes sense to have Tinkerbell in there, and if her fairy friends want to crash the party, that's fine. I'm just not sure it needs a large amount of space, unless the create multiple "rooms" for multiple sets of pixies. What they have in Disneyland would probably be sufficient.

I don't know how much room they have but why not keep some form of Pixie Hollow and then build a replica of Skull Rock and a mini pirate ship with meet and greet and some interactive/show elements? an homage to Neverland........
OR an homage to Wonderland with a new Alice ride.

Not true at all. Disney has made announcements and even started building things and called it quits..example Pop Century Legendary years...Ak's Beastly Kingdom...

Not to mention construction problems - hence the placement of the Odyssey at Epcot thanks to the sinkhole and subsequent lake that formed.

When did Disney actually announce Beastly Kingdom? As far as I know that's one of Jim Hill's. The closest it came to announcement was some surveys asking questions along the line of attending such a park - and even then I think they downgraded and renamed it Jungle Trek - and THAT might still see some life in the nighttime safari ride.

But yes, they did announce various things...I can think of at least three DVC resorts that were announced and never built...which is why the DC project could still get the axe.

OK, that's a new one on me...the rumors of the sinkhole I remember will all around the problems with Horizons, and I'm not sure they were ever confirmed.
