Pixar's UP

Is it good for a 2 1/2 and 4 year old? I really want to see it after reading all your reviews!

The 4 year old definately, but the 2 1/2 year old might get bored. Hopefully others with young children have been there to let you know how it went.

We just saw the movie today. Great movie! We all really enjoyed it. Yes, the story is far-fetched, but that added to the charm. I haven't seen such a creative story-line in a long time!

There is a sequence of scenes, near the beginning of the movie, that like Wall*E, is devoid of any dialogue, but is so touching and moving, DD and I were sobbing into our popcorn napkins.

That's what I did, too, popcorn napkins and all.

Just got back from the 3D version. LOVED IT!!! Don't hesitate to take in the 3D version, if you have the chance. It was not gimmicky 3D (no arrows shot at screen, etc.). I think the 3D enhanced the gorgeous annimation. I forgot that I was wearing glasses most of the time.

The parts that had me tearry eyed were more touching than sad. There are sad moments, but I was left with a very heart-warming feeling as I left the theatre. Dare I say that this might be my favorite Pixar movie! :thumbsup2

ETA: The theatre was loaded with children of all ages. I could not believe how QUIET everyone was. The little kids were very entertained. I'm sure the 3D helped hold their interest!

Ya'll have me convinced! We were going to see Night at the Museum but instead we're going to Up! :thumbsup2

Question - there are two theaters I can choose from near me. About the same distance to each, both nice. One says "Playing in Disney Digital 3D" on Fandango and the other says Disney Digital 3D as well as "Real 3D."

Is there a difference?

The "Real 3D- Click for more Info" says that you have to wear glasses where the Disney Digital 3D one doesn't mention glasses. Am I just really out of touch, or don't you always have to wear glasses in a 3D movie?

:confused3

We hope to see it on Monday or Tuesday.

I read a couple of reviews that say the 2-D version is actually better than the 3-D version, so we might save a few $ and see it in 2-D.

For those who have seen the movie, have you noticed any Hidden Mickeys? I noticed in the previews that the ball the girl in the high rise is playing with is the same ball that was introduced in Toy Story. We love looking for Hidden Mickeys in Disney/Pixar films!

I'm thinking of taking the kids tonite to see the movie.. I have 3 choices??!
Regular?...2D or 3D? Do they provide those 3D glasses or do we buy them? Sorry.. never seen any 3D movies before at a theatre.

We just got back. What a great movie. It was an incredidble mix of emotions. I did get teary eyed a few times.
We did not get the pre-show short either. I was really looking forward to it.
Definitely no after credit show.

No flames. I didn't like this movie. I JUST got home from it. I sobbed through the whole beginning part, and part of the middle and end. And what's up with all of the dogs? The preview was much funnier than the movie really was (and I hate that, when they show all of the funny parts!!). That said, I liked the friendly dog...

I guess I just didn't like it because I didn't know it was going to be sad until 20 min before we left. I have no grandparents, and haven't for years... that said, I wouldn't deter anyone from seeing it. But this is one we will NOT have in our library. :guilty:

2D is the regular. If you see 3D, glasses are provided.:thumbsup2

Saw it yesterday at 3:40. Loved it!!!

Might go see it in the big city next week to see it in 3D. Our theater is cheap at $3.50 a ticket, so I might splurge on another showing to see it in 3D somewhere else.

I am going to 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th :goodvibes all the wonderful things that are being said about this movie. For me, this was my 2nd favorite Pixar movie, very very close behind "Toy Story". And the same thing happened in our theatre, PP...there were quite a few kids but you could hear a pin drop in there, they were mesmerized.

Those folks at Pixar at genius; from the wonderful story line to the incredible artistry of this movie...sigh.....:lovestruc It ROCKS and in my book was worth every dime, including the $5 I paid for my soda. :thumbsup2

I posted about this in the main WDW parks board before I knew this thread was here, but I'm going to post here, too:
I had a real problem with the 3D looking murky/dim/losing details, like watching through sunglasses. The 2D version was vivid and gorgeous. I saw some mention of "Real-D 3D" vs "Disney Digital 3D" - is this the problem? I suspect my theatre has the "real-D" version, since the glasses for Up were the same as the ones they had for (the non-Disney) Coraline.

I loved the movie, thought it was funny, emotional, exciting, heartwarming, gorgeous, all the superlatives I've read in other reviews. This is the whole package: characters, story, animation, score... I'm not going to play "Rank the Pixar Films," especially since I'm still on my initial adrenalin rush from this, but I'm already wanting to go back and see it again.

And let me say, even though I'd seen a lot of clips, and felt like I knew a lot of spoilers, there was a lot I didn't know, and even the things I knew going in were better in context.

Some people have issues with 3D, I thought the colors were very vibrant even with the 3D glasses on.

I ended up going to the theater that said "Real 3D" and the 3D was absolutely amazing! Clearest 3D I have ever seen. DH and I were both commenting on how gorgeous it was. In fact, I got a bit dizzy in some of the "up" scenes :)

I thought it was a good movie but I didn't love it. I liked it, and thought that it was sad in parts but I didn't tear up (and I am usually quite the weepy one at sad movies!).

And unfortunately my theater wasn't quiet - screaming baby right behind me for at least half of the show. :headache:

Well my 18yodd went to go see it. I wonder what she will think of it? If she loves it I might go see it.

That's why I'm thinking there must be a difference in my theatre, or the 3D format, or something. Clearly, there are a lot of people who have seen it in 3D and been very pleased with the presentation.

I meant to mention: At my theatre, they are running the Princess & the Frog trailer with the 2D Up, and the 3D Toy Story 3 teaser trailer with the 3D Up. We got Partly Cloudy (the new Pixar short) with both versions. That was cute, although I liked Presto, and especially One Man Band, better.

Dh and I were so touched by this movie. I definitely cried!! It is so rare to creative, new ideas at the movies anymore and Up definitely impressed me.

My only complaint is that I probably belong in the "cone of shame" for spending only $3 less than our admission price on a medium popcorn and water. :scared1:

Well we just got back and though we enjoyed it, my DD thought it was 'rougher' than expected. She did not like the incident about the mailbox that gets him in trouble and was very upset about Kevin. Many of the under 4 crowd in our theater were very restless, although the older kids and grownups laughed a lot (and cried). They showed the Princess and the Frog trailer in our showing and she's really looking forward to seeing this in the fall.

We saw it this afternoon and thought it was wonderful! Ed Asner did such a good job with his part. I did tear up during the opening montage. My only issue was the dogs were sort of annoying, but other than that we thought it was great.
