Pitty's Sake, People, Does ANYONE have a good time???

Laughed out loud to this one-it's all of us if we step back and take a look!! Of course, we have fun on our trips but we're so obessive that we're always looking for more fun for less money!!
Girls Scout Leader-I'll bet you're great with the girls!!

Girl Scout Leader,
I loved your post (I picked up right away that it was tongue in cheek!).

I didn't discover this website until after my second cruise - AND I'M GLAD I DIDN'T. I didn't have any idea that I was supposed to obsess about where my room was in the ship (other than I did study the little diagrams in deciding what size room to put the 4 of us in). I didn't know I was supposed to research every minute of each shore excursion, I didn't know LAP APL blah blah, (how could I have been so stupid! (more tongue in cheek)).

My take on vacation is that my every day life is SO HECTIC - 2 kids in 2 schools in 2 counties, hubby and I working in different directions, volunteer work at schools and church, too many meetings, projects........I DON'T NEED THIS IN A VACATION!

We very naively just got on the ship. We've had beautiful rooms each time (second time was smaller because we had to rebook on short notice, but still wonderful), we've loved our dinner companions, met wonderful people, had fun at the pools, had neat excursions (even though hubby's first choice was sold out, he enjoyed the one he took). We got rained on and didn't even know we were supposed to get upset about it!

Maybe some people don't have enough other things to worry about? There are probably shelters they could help out at -- I bet the trivial complaints would dwindle.

Girls Scout Leader:

Just wanted to let you know "I got it" and I loved it!!!

Just one thing ... You should have told me to don a pampers before I read it cause ROFL and wet!

You hit the nail on the head ... relax already, it's a vacation!

Just don't take the pampers to the Mickey Pool 'cause they aren't allowed.

Tipping Pet Peeve -
I don't have to tip the recommended amount if my children are young -- right? Afterall -- they don't REALLY consider them in the 'per person' recommended amount -- do they? And my room stuard SURELY doesn't expect to get a 'full' tip -- I plan to be partying away half the week -- and won't get too much use out of that room anyway! All this talk of tipping -- just stresses me out.
:D  :D

OMG!!!! You mean that I've gotta TIP, too? After all, they only filled my 150 quart cooler 6 times a day, moved all the furniture around twice, cleaned up the floor four times when DS upchucked, and waded through all the clothes, sand, snacks, souvineres, and garbage on our floor twice a day to clean! I mean, I heard they get paid $30 per hour for this!

GSL -
I read that Rockin Bar D at night is adults only -- they SURELY do not mean MY kids are excluded though, right? Honestly, they will not scream any louder than the music is playing -- they are VERY well behaved children.

Ok! OK! Enough already. My sides are hurting so-o-o much from all this laughter coming out of me. I've never read anything so funny in my life! I love it! We're leaving next week and if I felt I was obsessive about my many "to-do" list, you've put it all into prospective. Disney - here we come.....

Girl Scout Leader,

Thanks for starting a great thread. We do enjoy our Disney cruises just as because others said we plan ahead, but then let things happen. It is funny to see how wrapped up in it all some people get. Thanks for giving me a good laugh.

:jester: :jester: :jester: This is an EXCELLENT thread! :jester: :jester: :jester:
I have often had similar thoughts, but you really put it into words so well. Like anything else in life, Disney Cruise Line isn't perfect, but this is a great reminder not to sweat the little things.
A long time ago, on the old AOL DCL message board (anyone remember that one?), I did two trip reports on the same Disney Cruise. This was back in the early days, so DCL still had some bugs to work out. One report focused on the good, while the other focused on the negatives. I did it to demonstrate how attitude can play such a big role in how much enjoyment you do (or don't) get out of your trip. There will always be some people who are bothered by everything and anything, but I am definitedly not one of them. Maybe it's because I have had so much training in cognitive psychology, or maybe it's just because I love to enjoy life, but I always keep in mind the simple fact that I may not be able to control events, but I can control my response to them.

Girl Scout Leader,

Don't forget my favorite......Someone on my ship got upgraded! How come we didn't? We booked a catagory 13 for 6 people and NEED that extra room.

This one bugs me only because you should book the level that you will be happy with and not count on an upgrade that isn't very likely to happen. I CRINGE when soemone posts a message on here that they have been upgraded (although I understand their excitment and their urge to share!) because I know it will lead to 18 other posts wondering where their upgrade is, or what they can do to get upgraded too.. Upgrades are very rare (I mean really, if barb and Tony haven't ever been upgraded for any of their 1800 cruises, what hope do the rest of us really have? :)

Too funny!!!! We Disers do tend to obsess a little, don't we....

There were things that didn't go completely as 'the plan' was laid out but so what- it was better than being at work.
My sentiments exactly....

Girl Scout Leader....

Thanks for putting all our worries in perspective. Nothing in life can go exactly as planned and we all need to lighten up and "go with the flow". You pointed that out all too well!!!!

Good job.

MJ

You guys are just too kind! I like the ideas about the upgrading! It reminds me of someone on the resorts board the other day who complained that she told her resort it was her birthday and they didn't do anything. Such magic sometimes jsut happens...you cna't plan it, you can't ask for it and you can't buy it. I'll be the best vacations ya'll have had were the most un-hurried, un-planned and the most laid back. Thanks for the kind words and form now on, let's keep this in perspective. Plan for the unexpected and let the rest ride.....

GSL -

That was TOOOOO FUNNYYY! My DD (Cadette) and I are sitting here laughing through this thread together. We got the joke right away! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Maybe because we're also Girl Scouts?;) Guess that means all those other people who got it are too?!?!!?

Shmoogirl -
My DD oohed and aahed over Katie's picture then started bouncing up and down when she saw Katie's first cruise starts on her 13th B-day! So she's sending extra pixie dust to her (and you) for an extra magical cruise.

We tend to be part of that group that gathers all possible information, make a general plan of what we do and do not want to do and then see where life takes us. Sometimes we get what we are looking for and sometimes not.

Thanks for the super thread!
Deb (& Michelle)

YES, we had a GREAT time..
and we didn't eat at palo's.....and i didn't have a massage (my daughter did though...on CC)...
and we didn't do about a billion other things on the ship.....
you don't have to do and see everything nor be everywhere to have a spectacular time.......

Girl Scout Leader you are too funny!

We will have a wonderfully MAGICal time when we cruise in Feb. 2003... but for now... I will be sweating the small stuff with the rest of the DISers!!!
