You know, for one who ran to the mods to close a thread because of personal attacks on themselves, you sure are quick to toss them out against others yourself.
Sorry to bust your bubble, but those stats come from JAVMA. Being a dog expert, I'm sure you know what that is. If you care to read the entire article, just do a search on "deadly dog bites" and it's right there.
Actually, there are other studies that show that even when breeding and care are factored in, those 3 breeds are STILL the top killers. They are the top killers among those dogs who have good breeding and the best of care and they are the top killers among those who are poorly bred and mistreated or abused. Try to understand this....Pit Bulls are the #1 killer of human beings in dog attacks regardless of whether they are abused animals or not. It is a statistical fact.
You do understand don't you, that ZERO deaths by a certain breed means that no matter how they were treated, they didn't kill anyone?
This story you relate about a poodle "mauling" a toddler should've made national news. In 20 years there has been ONE death by a poodle attack and that was on a baby that was 30 days old. The poodle thought it was a toy. The parents allowed a standard size poodle to be alone in a room with an newborn infant . So, your "mauling" poodle should've been big news.
Still, the child survived, didn't she? Had that been a pit bull mauling her, she would have been DEAD. That's the difference you don't seem to get. A small dog bites a child, the child gets bitten. A pit mauls a child and more than likely they DIE.
Which would you prefer....a child that is injured or a child that is DEAD?????
