Just back to our room at OKW after the first Pirates & Princesses party.

For the most part things were cute and fun but with anything new there are some kinks to be worked out.

We were able to gain admission with our party tickets at 4pm and were given a wristband upon admission. We were each given a "loot bag" that was tiny if you are comparing it to a treat bag from MNSSHP. The bag is black and has a drawstring but it is small. The treasure spots are marked with an X but the lines were LONG at each spot and moved slowly. The loot was usually 1 string of mardi gras beads or 2 pieces of chocolate or a tiny bag of raisins at each place. After about 3 treasure spots we just skipped these lines and rode the rides!

The parade was GREAT but was definitely heavy on the Princesses and light on the Pirates.

The biggest issue is the lack of food! There were very few options for dining and the few CS places that were open had a very limited menu. We ended up at the CS across from Pirates because it was the ONLY food service besides snack carts in all of Frontierland/Adventureland! They only offered 3 choices - beef tacos, vegetarian tacos and a kids meal quesadillas. There were no prices on any of the food options and the cashiers didn't know the prices until they rang up the items. VERY poor planning on Disney's part. There were lots of hungry guests and nowhere open to eat.

The best part of the party was the lack of lines on anything - Peter Pan, Dumbo, Pooh, Space Mountain - every single ride was a walk on!

We had a great time. Lots of people were decked out in costume but most just had on hats.

We are driving back tomorrow but I will check back in if anyone has any questions.

I would DEFINITELY recommend the party. GREAT bargain for the price but just bring your own food or eat a huge meal before the party!

:)

Glad to hear that overall you had a good time. It is good to know what is being giving out at the candy spots, don't want to waste too much time in lines for loot that is only so so. I will concentrate on getting on rides and enjoying the other entertainment and really can't wait to see the special parade and fireworks. I think my DD will have a good time, she wants to design her own priate costume, so this should be interesting. I was hoping some one would post about it tonight. Can't wait to see other reviews tomorrow.

Thumbs down!

I've been waiting to hear what this consisted of before I made it a point to attend. I can see those Princesses anytime. I'll wait to see the photos, but anything that promises pirates and is light on pirates is probably going to be light on me. pirate:

:cheer2: :wizard:  popcorn:: :3dglasses :santa:  :dance3: :bride: :rainbow: :tink: :simba: :cat: pluto: :ccat:

My daughter wanted me to post......she's up tonight (sick) and I'm entertainering her with bouncy guys.

Thanks for the review! Good tip on the "treasure" lines. I think we will skip most of those since I have a ton of Mardi Gras beads already. I don't know what I'd do with more!:) We were going mostly for the parade and rides anyway. Nice to hear that there were no lines!

Thanks for the update, but what about character meet and greets? I would love to know any "rare" characters out and where the characters were meeting.

Thanks for checking in! We'll be there on Friday night. Since I have just the one day in the parks, we're doing the party to give us more park time. Hopefully the lines will still be short. Looks like I don't have to worry about the 'treat' lines so much. One or two should do it!!

Hmmm, light on Pirates? Not good.pirate:
Of course I love the princesses (see my avatar, I worship Snow White) but was really looking forward to more Pirate related stuff, as I am a die hard POTC fan.

Could someone clarify this for me? Does the special ticket that you purchase for the event count as your admission into the party (like Mickey's Christmas party) or do you have to have an event ticket AND an admission ticket? Thanks so much!!

They meant to say that the "Parade" was light on the Pirates, not the whole party overall.

From the paperwork I've seen, both the Pirates and the Princesses get equal billing at the parties.

The parade does seem to have all the princesses, as well as two floats for the pirates. One being with Tinker Bell, who is more in the princess category. That's what I've gotten from the reviews to far.

I'm glad I booked LTT before the party. Dinner's at 4:30 for me that day, so I should be filled up before the party. Except I may have to get a Dole Whip or something later in the night. I think I read on the map that Aloha Isle was open. . .

You don't need to purchase admission unless you want to go earlier than the allowed time. Your event ticket will get you into the park.

Did they have a fireworks show, and if so, what time did it begin?
I don't know what time the fireworks were, but I work at Boardwalk, and several fellow castmembers who were outside during them said they were fantastic. Even from that far away. I think they may have been at 9, but I'm not sure on that.
