What do you bring aboard for pirate night? I want to bring anything we'd need with us rather than having to buy it there :) We've got three little kids, DH and I.

Well, you can post on social media to see if anyone has stuff. My wife seems to be regularly letting people borrow our pirate stuff for cruises from Facebook posts. But we all have pirate costumes, I have an eye patch, boot covers. They give you the pirate bandanas/napkins the day of but my head is too big, so I also have a pirate bandana and hat from halloween a few years back.

If you do forget something and stay offsite the night before, some hotels have gift shops with non-dis pirate merch.

It depends on how elaborate you want to be. Some people just do the provided half bandannas. Some families get matching shirts. Some people go all-out professional-style costumes. And everything in between.

Glow necklaces, wands, bracelets, and things that flash are all popular since it is dark out on deck.

We bought our pirate shirts from amazon- there are quite a few options. My husband would only agree to this "costume". We just pair it with black slacks. I have another version of the shirt.

I agree with Quellman anything that glows for the kids.. which I happen to buy at the dollar tree. I get the two youngest costumes DD 4 &8, the oldest (DS17)will not Participate. For girls : The Tinkerbell the Pirate Fairy customer is cute if you can find it on eBay or amazon. The pictures always turn out really nice and those are the ones we always end up buying which allows us to see each year how much they have grown. I stopped bringing the boots for the girls because there was not enough room... flip flops work just fine. Either way the kids have a great time. You can also book time at BBB for both girls and boys to get pirated up.

Is your cruise soon? If not, wait for post-Halloween sales. You can get entire outfits for 80% off at Wal-Mart! I might do that with little kids who like dressing up. Even if you just want little things, post-Halloween works - 10 packs of eye patches, hats (I found some super cheap online at Target), and I think it was Oriental trading co I got headbands that had little pirates hats with feathers attached for the ladies. I got a Pirates of the Caribbean accessories set for DS8 when it was on sale on the disneystore site, and then he was totally disinterested in dressing up whatsoever; however, he would have loved it a few years ago. He already had a POTC t-shirt to wear, and that was as much as he was willing to do. For DD, DH, and me - I tried to pirate-ify things we already had. A black skirt DD was wearing for semi-formal night got re-paired with this ridiculous ruffled black blouse from 1990ish that belongs to my MIL and somehow ended up in my closet, with above-mentioned accessories. DH work a black button down dress shirt that he also wore for semi-formal night, but with the collar spread and a few buttons unbuttoned plus the sleeves cuffed a bit. I added a belt and changed shoes, with the black skirt/slight-ruffled shirt I already was wearing. You get the idea.

I went to the fabric store and got some red and white stripes fabric. I had my son wear black pants, a white tee shirt and used one strip of the fabric like a belt and another as a headband.

I just happen to have dress with a skull and crossbones so wore that.

Things don't have to be super elaborate.

Yeah if you've ever wanted to learn to sew, a pirate outfit is the best way to learn ;). I have my cheap Costco sewing machine that needs dusting off.

I bought my pirate costume at spirit the Halloween store for 50% off the day after Halloween. I might get a new one this year.

As someone previously mentioned I guess it's how elaborate your costume is. My first pirate night costume consisted of just a pirate themed shirt. On my previous cruises my costumes have gotten so elaborate that I have two suitcases just for pirate night. I wear a fun extra large pirate hat during the day and a full pirate costume in the evening. Sometimes while I'm packing to go on a Disney Cruise I tell myself is it worth carrying all this extra luggage for one day of pirate themed fun but after all the great comments from my fellow guest and cast members I tell myself it is worth it.

Here is one of the four different pirate costumes I own. My latest costume is themed after the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Do people wear their pirate party attire to dinner that night? Or typically change after dinner?

We brought our pirate outfits with us, we had been piecing them together for a month prior to the cruise. Some people go all out, and I wasn't as pirated out as I would have liked seeing other peoples costumes... :(
