Pirate Cruises and Pirate League

We are taking a family trip in Feb and I am interested in having my boys do the Pirate League makeover, but want to know if anyone has done this before and if they think it is worth the $$? Advice on doing earlier in trip vs later? My sons are 6 and 2.

I am also very interested in but am having a hard time in finding information on the Pirate Cruises that are offered...I think they are called Albatross Pirate Cruise and Bayou Treasure Hunt? Is this exclusive for certain resorts or if you are staying anywhere on WDW property can the kids participate? I would only do this for my 6 yr old, obviously.

Any information/advice on both the Pirate League and Pirate Cruises would be greatly appreciated!!
