I'm sorry if this has been discussed recently. The Search feature isn't working for me right now.

What has been your girl's experience with the Pirate Cruise?
Does anyone have a child that didn't like it? Why?
What did you do while your child(ren) was cruising for 2 hours?
Do they provide the same lunch as the Albatross Treasure Cruise (PB&J)?
I see it's offered on Mon., Wed., Thurs. and Sat. Is there a day that's better than the others?

I appreciate any and all feedback.

:thanks:

Our six year old granddaughter absolutely loved the cruise at the Grand Floridian. Her stepfather (our son) and my husband took the time to go over to Animal Kingdom and get FastPasses for the Safari. Her mother and I took a grand tour of all the monorail resorts and passed some time just soaking in the sun at the Grand Floridian beach.

Lunch for this cruise was an Uncrustible PB&J. The granddaughter got grape jelly. You are asked about any food allergies before the child boards. In our case, the girl couldn't have anything with cherries in it. Not a problem. Be warned, though. Most of the lunch came back not eaten. She was just too excited to do justice to the meal. They are allowed to take the bag of food off the ship.

Other hints. The boarding of the ship is so safe and secure. As well as the unboarding. I was given (everything was in my name since this was my treat) a receipt and a beeper for the entire time. I had to turn both of those in to claim my granddaughter. She wasn't allowed off the ship (a pontoon boat with a Jolly Roger flag but, hey, they were pirates!) until I turned both in.

The kids need to wear a life jacket the entire time and the Cast Members will check for a good fit. Get your child there a half hour early for photos before the other pirates show up. Get the life jacket and then take the kid to the nearest bathroom before the cruise. You don't want them out there for two hours without a potty break.

This is one of the best bargains at Disney World. Take full advantage of it. Any day is fine. We settled on the only day that was available when I called 89 days in advance.

:thanks: , disnut8!

Anyone have anything else to add?

DS6 loved it. There were a handful of girls, but it was about 80% boys. DS hates peanut butter, but given the time 9-11, lunch really is not necessary.

Suggestions for what to do during the 2 hours --- have breakfast at the GF, hop the monorail to the Poly for breakfast at Kona, visit the spa at GF, bring a book and relax at the GF. Just be back at the dock prior to 11, you don't want to miss them arriving!

Ditto what disnut8 said about the cruise details. I'll add you get a pager in case of emergency.

My DD9 is a tomboy. She's earned respect from most boys but it's a struggle for her sometimes. I figured most of the 'pirates' would be boys and wanted to know how the girls fared with them for 2 hours. It's nice to know that they have just as much fun. Boys can be a bit unfair, pushy and obnoxious.
