We are going to WDW in August. Should we do the pirate and princess party? It looks like fun. Our groups consists of:
2 adult princesses princess: princess:
2 adult pirates pirate: pirate:
2 younger princesses princess:10 princess:13
one young pirate pirate:7

Any thoughts??

We went in January and had a good time. Crowds were very light the night we went so that made it worth the $$$$ to us. If you can afford it, go for it! Are the dates posted yet for August?

To be totally honest ...I would not spend the money again and trust me I really don't have a problem spending money on holiday it's just that it was no big deal I thought.
We went the first night in Jan...the 22nd and truly it was un memorable and really when you think what you spend ...the 2 tickets cost us 140.00u.s and then we all had costumes and had dinner in MK and really it was just o.k.
The only reason we went was because I thought it would be really special and because in January the parks close early and I thought it would give us a late night out. Last year in May when we went the parks were all open later so it was nice but Jan. they close early.
I thought that the handing out of what seemed to be Halloween candy and dollar store bead necklaces by what looked like managers wearing regular every day clothing was a bit of a waste of waiting in line and after 3/4 of those my kids didn't want to bother waiting anymore. The fireworks were good but so are they any other time. The best thing was the parade it was special but not worth the night out.
I would have preferred doing something else with the extra $....if you think about it you could put the ticket cost towards an extra night stay....we all would have preferred an extra night over the P&P party.
Just my opinion and Im sure there are lots who loved it but just not us.
Next January we are going to upgrade resorts and stay extra nights cause that's what we like to spend extra cash on.
Have a great time....I would like to get another visit in around the time you are going....enjoy

We are also looking at booking during our August stay. Just for something different. There wil be 1 adultpirate: , 1 adult princess: and 1 junior pirate:

Almost all posts I have read have been positive.

We went on (I think) Feb 5th and it seemed they had worked out the kinks of the earlier parties. There were no lines for rides, very fast moving lines for candy and we easily got a great spot for the parade just before it started. We loved the party (ages 38,34,6,4.) My kids loved the dance parties and all of the special characters. The characters DID have very long lines.

We left at midnight having met many new to us characters, having ridden tons of rides with no wait, probably 4-5 pounds of chocolate. We saw the parade (great and I usually don't care about parades) and the fireworks (also great.) The kids spent FOREVER at Sebastian's dance party. We had a really good time.
