They are a range of prices depending on how big they are, if they are Limited Edition, have moving parts etc but here is a rough idea based on my memory (which comes with a health warning )
Basic pin - approx $6
Slightly bigger - approx $8
Big ones / LEs - approx $10+
One way to get cheap pins which you can then use to trade is to stock up "last season's" pins at the Disney Outlet at the Premium Outlets. These cost approx $1-2 each and can be traded as they are official "Disney" pins.
If you look here you can see all info on pins, new releases prices etc. www.odpt.com (Official Disney Pin Trading) They range from $6.99+tax up to about $14.95+tax for jumbo pins. Then there are specials and ltd editions which sell for a lot more.
If you are considering buying them to trade either buy off Ebay or from this site www.pinfinder.com, I first found him on Ebay but I buy from his site now.
Just waiting for 100 to be delivered $240 incl free delivery. Previous lots have had a lot of cast lanyard and really nice pins for trading. be very careful on Ebay as some sell rubbish.

We used to do this option but last few visits they have been $4.99+
I was told they have started selling them thru pin auctions and other outlets now as they were not getting enough for them. Its well over a year since I saw any at a good price.
Never thought about doing that before - just bought cheap ones at the outlets and then the kids always found at least one in the parks they just had to buy

I thought I had seen some last August in the $1-$2 price range. I would say though that they were nasty nasty nasty pins so maybe they do still sell the odd no-hope-of-selling for that
The cheapest I saw them at Christmas for was $3.99 but when we were there in August they didn't have any at all. We're big pin traders here and have about 100 + pins to take with us to trade
Just recieved letter from Parcel force. They are holding my Pins until I pay VAT and Parcel Force Clearance fee. Never had this before with Royal mail, I have with Couriers like UPS but this is a 1st with Royal mail.
Just take costs into consideration if you order, I still think they are worth it.
Pins cost £118.23
VAT £24.31
Clearence fee £13.50
Total £156.04 ($3.17/pin)
Still works out at half cheapest pin in Disney, but the fees add about 77c/ pin.
Another option is to have them sent to your hotel, like we did at Disneyland CA. last year.
