Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but is pin trading a big thing at Disneyland like it is at Disney World? If so where are the pin boards/pin books/special pin things in the parks and at downtown Disney? It will be my first time at DLR, but I've been to WDW many times. Thank you in advance, any locations at downtown dis year wago I'll. E especially appreciated, we will be there Saturday-saturday but at the parks Monday-Friday, so we will be at downtown Disney at least on Sunday. Thanks in advance!

Not as big, but still prevalent. There's a pin kiosk in DTD. Not sure where there are any boards, although I did encounter one last time in Fantasyland by Big Thunder Mountain trail where it is closed off.

There is pin trading in the Disney hotel lobbies (all 3 hotels) from 4:15 to 4:45 daily.
Hotel managers participate, a chance for them to casually interact with guests.

There's a pin board in the pin trader store as you enter frontier land, the stores as you exit BLAB and Star Tours, the store on Main Street as you enter DL on the left hand side (can't remember name offhand). There's one at the little hut outside security, you'll see it as you get off the buses. Also in DCA the store as you first enter on the right hand side.

Those are the ones I can remember right now that my kids like to hit up. I'll edit my post if I think of others. I'm sure someone else will know of more though.

Thank you all for the info! I'll have to stop by some of these. Are the boards in the shops always out or do you have to ask at a certain counter?

I think pin trading at DLR is pretty popular, but because the resort is smaller overall, it feels like there are less pin trading opportunities. On a park-to-park level, I think it's pretty comparable. I have noticed that at DLR, there does seem to be fewer CMs wearing lanyards, but many the stores have a Mickey-head shaped pin board at the register (or somewhere in the store). I know I've seen a board in at least one shop in each land, except maybe Fantasyland. I've traded with boards at the 20th Century Music Company (pin shop) and the Emporium on Main Street, Star Command and Star Tours in TL, the pin shop and Mercantile in Frontierland, the shop across from the Jungle Cruise in AL, the Minnie Shop in NOS, the plush toy room in the Winnie the Pooh shop in Critter Country, and the Gag Factory in Toon Town in DL. I've seen pin boards or similiar in Elias & Co and the pin shop on BVS, at Clarabelle's (a rare one at a food place), Grizzly River Outfitters, the Ariel store, the pin shop on Paradise Pier, all three shops in Carsland, the ToT shop, and the Art of Disney in DCA. Frontierland also has a larger board (sometimes a regular board, sometimes a wheel) that is usually out over by the Frontierland Mercantile. I've also seen the Mickey-head board or similar at WoD (usually at the entrance furthest from the parks), the pin shop and D-Street in DTD and at the Harbor Side Information kiosk. Most times, I've seen the boards out in the open, except the Emporium one that they seem to put away occasionally.

We have been to both WDW and DLR annually for the last few years. We prefer the pin trading at DLR. While scrappers are still very common, we find that DD finds far more real pins trading at DLR, than she does at WDW. She also has picked up much better pins in trades at DLR, than she has found at WDW. She has done some pretty good trading at DLR. There are lots of boards and CMs with lanyards inside the parks, you just have to keep your eyes out for them. They keep boards, books, etc. at lots of registers in the shops throughout the parks. There are board etc at most of the registers at WOD in DTD and many of the CMs in the store have lanyards, there is also trading at the pin kiosk in DTD- their board itself is not out all the time, but the CMs usually wear lanyards. Other places in DTD to find pin trading are the CM at the DVC booths, CMs at the monorail, CMS in other Disney owned businesses in DTD, occasionally we have even found an employee at a non-Disney owned business in DTD with a lanyard trading with kids for fun. There is also pin trading in the resorts. DD typically does more trading during a few days at DLR, than she does in a week at WDW.

Another place where I've almost always seen CMs wearing lanyards is at the DVC information kiosks. I think they do that in hopes that people will come over to talk with them and then they can give their pitch about the DVCs.

I always stop to pass the time of day with DVC kiosk CMs. They are so lonely sometimes! I helps that I already own at BLT, so the sales pitch is low-key or non existent.
