What do you suppose should be on a pin trader's Bill of Rights? I'd like to see something along these lines placed onto various pin sites in order to clear up much of the confusion experienced by new traders. I'll start by proposing:

1. A pin trader has the right to meet new people and have an enjoyable, entertaining experience.

2. A pin trader has the right to walk away from a trade, at any time and for any reason. No one should feel pressured into making a trade.

3. A pin trader has the right to accurate information about the pins being traded. If you don't know, ask around or look it up.

4. A pin trader has the right to request references when trading by mail.

Any suggestions?

How about "A Pin trader has the right to expect some kind of response--even if it's a very simple "no thank you" when sending out a trade request", either through Pinpics Trade Assistan, or if e-mailing the potential trader directly through their e-mail address posted publicly on Pinpics.

It's no wonder people buy on e-bay--if you can't get to the parks to trade, and you can't get anybody to respond through pinpics, how else do you get pins except to buy them?!

Terribly Frustrating--and rude behavior on the part of the "trade request receiver":(

Ruth, I agree & certainly can relate to how you feel. I recently searched pinpics to see who is listed as wanting some pins I have to trade. I emailed some folks about two weeks ago - no answer. Ironically some other people emailed me about those same pins, so first come with an address & a trade, first served! I've had a couple people contact me about the current TDS pins. I have no problem trading, but don't start the request & then not follow through. Ruth is correct, please be kind enough to follow through when someone emails you. And if you are on pinpics, be sure you have an accurate email address listed.

I, get somewhere between 300-700 pin requests per week. If I took the time to say no to eveyone that I declined i might just miss out on another person who might have been of the mind "first come with an address & a trade, first served!" So realize that a no response is likely a definate no or a very late yes.

Put yourself in the other person's shoes. They may not be near as anxious to "get rid of that pin" as you are to have it. So you have caused them no pain if you go to ebay or places like it.

Sometimes I am so busy, I may want to trade with a person but know that I cannot get to a PO for several days sometimes weeks. We do not have a P.O. within miles of me.

I have to say here in public. If anyone does not get a response from me regarding PinPics, I am either not anywhere near MY computer which happens for days at a time; or I am not interested in the trade. If I am close to my computer and it is important to me I will either get in touch with the person at my earliest convenience or miss out. But this is a hobby and does require patience and fortitude of me.
