Birthday Drink Tally at 9:30PM:

1 Mimosa
6 small glasses of Moet & Chandon Champagne
3 glasses of champagne ala' Flying Fish
1 shared small cup Spanish red wine
1 shared Happy Lye-chee
3 full glasses of Italian wine
1 glass of Rosa Regale
A whole lotta water!

You're looking pretty relaxed there, Brenda! :rotfl2: The picture and the list of drinks go so well together, no? :rolleyes1

And I said, "When people realize we're married they're going to think I'm raiding the crobble."

:confused3:confused3:confused3

There was this long moment of silence and then I started laughing because what I'd meant to say was "Robbing the cradle."

And while I'm laughing Jay said, "What are you, the Hamburgler? Crobble, crobble!!!"

I get my words mixed up all the time! :rotfl2: Thanks for the laugh!

You were so sweet to post this review for my birthday  :rotfl2: I read it right away and thought I had commented on it but appartently the old age is settling in quickly

Jon sat here looking at the pics & reading the review with me and now thinks FF might be a good choice for our anniversary dinner at the World next summer. All I know, is I want that champagne flight!

Ah! Love the seafood! Do you have a McCormick and Schmick's near you? They have some of the best fried calamari I've had and it's served with 3 different dipping sauces. The menu is changed twice a day depending on the fresh fish they get. It's a huge of fish, and it tells you exactly what the fish is and where it's from. It's definitely high on my list of places to go.

It is excellent! and if it's a special occasion, let them know when you make the reservation. We had personalized menus for our anniversary a few years ago with our names & how many years. They also put us in a private booth with curtains around it

I think I was starting to get a little sleepy thanks to the booze and the slow pace of the meal. :lmao:

Glad you got a laugh out of the story - it was pretty funny! Crobble Crobble!! :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday, have some fish!

I think Flying Fish would be a great anniversary dinner for you two - we did that one year for ours and it was a lovely experience. And the next time we go back I'm getting the champagne flight again - it was great!

Saturday, October 17th - Join us for a DISmeet in the Beach Club Solarium ... Cakey Goodness Provided for All Who Attend!

It really wasn't my intention to host a DISmeet on my birthday ... or any day, actually. The whole thing started out as a handful of people who were going to get together after PFTS and share a drink or two. I then mentioned that since it was my birthday and I'd always wanted a special cake from Disney that Jay and I would supply dessert. Someone else offered to bring booze. As the summer wore on, more and more DISfriends booked trips around the same time in October and as it turned out, most of us were going to be able to meet on the evening of the 17th. I took a headcount, told Jay what I wanted to try to do, and bless his lovey heart he gave me his patented shoulder shrug of approval.

Grimace taught me when I was a wee girl that hosting a party means you should provide party favors for your friendies who are generous enough to give up their time to celebrate with you. So the first order of business was coming up with appropriate gifties that wouldn't break the bank. To that end I hit upon a grab bag idea that would let my friendies choose a gift - I figured if someone didn't like what they'd chosen they could always swap with someone else.

Here's what I put together:

Boozie recipe book!
P8300006.jpg

Pewter wine charms.
P8300005.jpg

Wrapped in Mickey paper!!!
P8300007.jpg

Liquid refreshments.
P9050029.jpg

Jay and Bendy's treasure chest of booze, one night only!
P9050030.jpg

Frozin ... our contribution to the party drinks.
P9050026.jpg

And so the night arrived and I grew more and more nervous ... like hands shaking nervous ... because I was so worried that everyone would have a craptacular time and it would be my fault because the meet had been my idea and I'm actually pretty boring in person. And what if the cake was inedible or didn't turn out the way I'd hoped and what if we couldn't hold our gathering in the Solarium without a reservation or something? It's a public room so I just assumed we could do what we wanted but what if we couldn't? We all know what they say about the word assume. ;)

Jay and I were running late thanks to Flying Fish and when we arrived at the Solarium we found Lori and Catherine already there along with a CM from private dining. A special thanks goes out to the two of them once again for getting the ball rolling in our absence.

And when I saw the cake, I squealed ... I clapped my hands ... I capered. I loved it!!!!

I butcher every cake I try to cut ... it's a curse!

Playing with knives is fun!

One of the things that I didn't realize in advance ... ordering through Private Dining meant that they were going to supply plates, napkins, and cutlery. It just didn't occur to me that that was included in the total price I was quoted, so I actually had paper plates, napkins, and plastic forks and knives.

D'OH! :headache:

I also had nametags worked up for everyone so that we would actually know who was who. My dear friend Nancy made them for me. Unfortunately they wouldn't stick to anyone no matter how hard we tried, so we ended up with everyone walking around un-named ... it was more exciting that way!

I really regret not getting everyone together for a group picture or three, but everyone arrived at different times and by the time things were really rolling the idea went right outta my head.

So please enjoy some pictures of the evening ... and friendies, any of you who would like to share your own pictures, please feel free to do so here!

What a great, GREAT way to celebrate your 40th!!! :goodvibes The cake was really AWESOME, I don't think I could have cut into it!

And Brenda, we've never met (although I hope one day we do!) but I can't ever imagine that the word to describe you would be BORING!! :sad2::eek: You are BY FAR one of the MOST entertaining people on this forum, and just in sheer booze-factor alone, you can NOT be boring!! :rotfl:

Believe me El, she is far from boring.:goodvibes Having been lucky enough to have met both of you I can say y'all would get along famously!:thumbsup2

Loved the b-day party pix! So glad the evening worked out well! :goodvibes

DH was walking by the computer as I was looking at them, saw the cake pctures and said "That is a really cool cake!" He usually just says "Is it chocolate?" ;)

I like the Disney Channel "XD" in the background :)

The cake is super adorable.

There's a story behind that Disney XD playing on the TV. When we first arrived, the TV was LOUD. And we couldn't find a way to turn the volume down. So I took a considerable amount of time in the Beach Club lobby trying to find someone with the Power and Authority to either turn down the volume or turn the TV off.

The cast member at the concierge desk said that the Recreation cast members had the key to the console that held the Wand of Power (aka the remote control), and she tried to call them or page them. No luck. But someone managed to turn down the volume a little bit (probably manually) on the TV when I returned.

And about this review...

I can't imagine what I was saying to pose like "I'm a Little Teapot" in one of Brenda's photos. :rotfl2:
