Pictures From Your Part of the World

I am so glad to see someone else who loves Catalina. I think it's a great place to visit we tend to go at least once a year.

Here is a few more from Catalina

Wrigley Memorial (Yes as in the Gum and Stadium)

The Famous Casino (no gambling its a dance hall and movie theater) from the most popular Dive spot side

And the most famous and difficult to photograph (the angle is horrible because under her is a Art Deco ticket booth with high glass details, above a Candleier, and a low ceiling at the front) but I love her

Thanks again for letting me share!!

Great place!! Been there and proximity a few times for dive trips. Your photos are terrific!! :thumbsup2

thanks for the extra pics. I would love to go back, last time only had a 35mm camera would love to take digital pics.

Maybe you would like to see some pics al the way from Denmark???

Here is one from outside my work. This is the Danish answer to The White House. There is also a theatre in there, and that's were I work. It looks quite small and dirty but that's the light, it's actually quite nice

The Princess- Wow you so make me want to go to Denmark how stunning!!!

Everyone's pictures are stunning and I love the shoots of the kitties!

Awesome, thePrincess. I'm hoping to go back to Europe in 2009 and expand my horizons a bit. Maybe it's time I add Denmark to the itinerary.

Thanks fairycat! My Kauai pics wouldn't load up to photobucket for some reason. But yes, they are spectacular. Next year we hope to do a Big Island trip.

Boy, I wish I had some photos of Ecuador on the computer.

I know that I have killed this bridge on this board, but I thought I'd put them all together here. This is the train bridge in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts that spans the Cape Cod Canal. When a train approaches, the boat traffic is stopped, the center section of the bridge drops into position and the train crosses. Then the bridge goes back up and the boats move again. Pretty neat to watch.

Also, I got this pic of a fire boat on a one boat parade yesterday. I don't know why it was going through the canal with it's siren going and water spraying, but I was glad that I always carry my camera with me as in 37 years here, I have never seen this.

you may have heard... it's raining here! Pasha Bulker - Philippine coal ship ran aground in the storm.

it was pouring rain so i didnt get very many shots, but i managed to get some.

this one was taken at about 6:30 in the morning with my Mamiya 7ii, using 35mm tri-x instead of medium format film. it only gives about 11 shots per roll, but they are a nice wide pano view. my colour film is still at the lab. i'm hoping they turned out, but the rain made it difficult. they are going to drag her out to sea at the end of the month when the tide is at its highest, so i might get a chance to take more shots. there is another ship that ran aground just up the coast that they were never able to save. this one may be in the same boat :lmao: er... which is a shame as it's only about 18 months old. since Nobby's beach is very popular, they would probably break it up and drag out pieces

We just moved from Texas to Colorado and these are a few shots from our first day trip in the mountains, specifically to the top of Mt. Evans, highest highway in North America. We made the rookie Coloradian mistake of leaving the house in just our t-shirts. It was 39 degrees at the top!! Luckily, my parents had a couple of jackets in the car we pilfered.

Sanka, I love the juxtaposition of the old weathered barn in the foreground with the ultramodern windmill (is that the right word for those?) in the background.

I agree!! I didn't realise how huge those windmills are! I get a sort of eerie feeling looking at them!

Thanks for posting.

Hey, thanks! It's one of my favorites from that day.... and yep, windmill is the correct word! :)

Ya, they are pretty huge, and eerie... espically when you see them in person, they don't really spin real fast... and are very silent!
