Pictures From Your Part of the World

thanks for the great comments! but i can't really take the credit - it's just a beautiful country/island/continent.

the photos linked above were taken with a Canon 1dmk2 digital SLR. the top photo taken at Manly Beach and bottom photo of Narrabeen Beach were taken using a Canon 24-70 2.8L lens. the middle two photos taken at South Curl Curl Beach were taken using a Sigma 15mm fisheye lens. the fisheye is what gives it the curve. i do not use any filters.

the photos were offloaded into Apple Aperture for basic processing/resizing for web, etc.

Thanks for the info Oblio...it seems like every local( i"sh) zoo has an Australian exhibit now. the one in Cleveland even has a real house in the middle of it...i'll have to post some photos when that area opens up again( closed in winter) so we can get the real deal and set those zoo planners right;)

i love the mono shots with the vignettes - especially the fishing couple and the pelican!

Thanks for the compliments guys, I saw that couple and snapped a photo I hope they didn't mind but I thought it was so sweet. As far as the one of my Mom and Grandma they wanted nothing to do with their photo being taken, my Grandma kept covering her face and my Mom was in hysterics. I couldn't resist, I think it shows quite a bit of emotion in their faces. We were all out for a nice afternoon of watching the cruise ships go by and I snapped a few photos while we were waiting.

I'm glad you found your way over, Freyja! Your husband is a great photographer! I'd like to know what kind of bird that is, and please tell us about the man in the photo!

Thanks! I´ll tell him. The bird is a Puffin and the man was doing a one-man theatre play about one of the vikings. :)

I'd planned on going downtown this weekend and taking some photos for this thread, but it's supposed to rain. So in the meantime, here's a few that I think I may have posted on other threads:

I was going to try and get some shots of downtown Dallas, but my spot I chose to shoot from had powerlines in the way. I'm going to try and get some more shots around town later.

sk8belle bet those cherry blossoms didn't last long this yr..but nice photo, love the little cottages and iceland photos:thumbsup2 nice to see places i'll probably never get to go to ( you know, like the Pa. border 50 miles away, all those exotic places like that:lmao: )

We had a huge rainstorm one night last week, it snowed the Sat. before Easter, then it rained again last night. I haven't had a chance to get back to the area where they are, but I've heard there's nothing left.

Freyja, love your photos. What a beautiful country you've got there.

A few more photos from downtown:

In Northeast DC, there's a Franciscan Monestary whose grounds and chapel are just beautiful. This is a photo from an outside walkway area:
