I made an explosion box this weekend and the edges look like crap!! (Being blunt here).

I inked them, but they are still rough and the paper is not smooth. Does anyone have any tips on how to make it look nicer? Does anyone have an photos of ones they have done??

I will try to post photos of mine soon.

Is the cutter you were using on them dull? I didn't have any trouble with mine but I made sure I had new blades right before cutting.

A little, but what did you use for adhesive? Maybe that was my problem.....

Here's one a made a few years ago. Probably more than a few years, actually.

Made in 2007

The first one was cardstock from Mouse Memories - I forget the brand, but I know it's not Bazzil.

The second one is Bazzill and Basic Grey

Wow, had no idea they could turn out so cute. :goodvibes

These are cute!! Where could I find a pattern--I think I might try to make one for the grandparents for Christmas, but, I don't want to google "exploding box" as DH works for the government ;)

That would lead to a beautiful conversation in the office..
Mr. WDWMickey would you like to explain why your wife was looking up the directions for an exploding box? Is there anything we should know? Should we surround the house???

Mr. WDWMickey replies: Yup if you are worried about our Disney photos popping out of an exploding scrapbook paper box!

So here's another tip for you. When searching recipes, look up "slow cooker" not "crock pot." I was surprised what came up when I was looking for a good chicken recipe! :rolleyes1

Very nice. I know I shouldn't ask this for any craft, but can you estimate how long it took to make?

I *think* I have an idea what the OP's issue might be.

Ladies, these are not chipboard covered with paper. They're just heavy cardstock. So there's no "rough edges" unless your paper trimmer needs a new blade. On mine at least, and I think on most of them, the patterned paper doesn't even come out to the edge of the cardstock.

Depending on how much embellishing you do, the basic box could be cut and folded in about an hour. I space mine out to allow drying time before assembly. Also, the feet and the knob were rolled separately from cardstock, glued and dried before assembly. So I figure it probably took 3 -4 hours total, spaced out over a week.

If i remember correctly it was roughly a week. It actually didn't take too much time to put together, I just kept getting interrupted! :) And thank you for the compliment!
