Pics of the TOP (inside) of Spaceship Earth? Please!!

I'm pretty sure that's the fiberoptic city I mentioned earlier (and someone linked a photo), which was -- I think -- just before getting to the top.

Yes, it was either just before the top or just after. I don't remember exactly where it was located but it disappeared when they changed the ending so I would have to guess that it was after, on the way back down.

As far as the top goes, I first went on SSE in about 1989 and as I remember it was just the projection of the earth, but I could be wrong. I know they had space stuff at one time, so I might have seen that and it just didn't register. I have always been mesmerized by the earth projection to the point that I have hoped that the ride would stop when we got there. I love the image it creates, so much so that I might have just ignored the space junk that people say was there and I have seen pictures of someplace.

At the very top where the cars turn around there used to be a space station just overhead with astronauts on space walk tethers. I'm not sure why it was removed. I always enjoyed that part.

It was definately on the way down...i thought it was cool

Yup.... As others have mentioned, and linked pictures too (haven't gone thru the other linked threads yet).... There used to be a big space station that was in orbit. There was the satellite suspended over the center of the area with 2 Spacemen working on it (Who later were moved to the Space mountain sign when it had one of the old ride vehicles on it with spacemen riding it).... And then there was a giant arm holding the satellite connected to the big space station with a female operator working it from an observation window.

The Satellite, arm, and spacement are LONG gone.

The rest of the spacestation however is pretty much still there, just painted black. It was over the entrance to the top before they rotated you. Between the black paint, and the extended bit of tunnel they put in to help obscure projectors as you entered the top of Spaceship earth, It's pretty difficult to see the remains of the space station.

The Woman operator? She was also repurposed during a past refurb and moved into one of the scenes earlier in the attraction.

(The one thing I can't quite remember however is if the Earth was still projected on the walls during the space station phase... or if it was projected under the satellite in that section in the center of the room.)

The space station was the finale - your future could be living and working space - you know, "Tomorrow's Child - your future world is here today". Gave me chills, it was a beautiful panorama. I'm an old fogey - I miss all that stuff so much, especially compared to the current room full of black paint that it is now.

All I know is that someone was using flash photography on the descent when we rode it last week and it illuminated a sort of chain link fence structure in the middle. That really messed up the "traveling through space" feeling.
