We are planning to celebrate my daughters birthday at CRT. My son will be 11 when we visit and now must order off the adult menu. However, he is such a picky eater. I've looked at the menu online but don't see anything he would enjoy. Is it possible to request a special meal for him, like a burger? If so, any ideas on how to do this before our trip?

My middle DSD is VERY VERY picky....

One time at CRT (2004 when she was 11)....they let her order off the childs menu... (used adult price / DD pkg I believe)...

I couldn't believe the last visit she ordered the Lavendar Chicken... (not sure if still on the menu) and she LOVED it....

Hope that helps!

Agreed, he should be able to order from the child's menu, but will pay an adult price.

If it is Cinderella your DD wants for dinner and it doesn't need to be in the castle what about the GF. The dinner is a buffet so there is plenty for your picky eater to choose from. DD get the interaction from the characters, Cinderella & Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine and the Stepsisters. The stepsisters and Lady Tremaine are hysterical. Then if DD still wants CRT for the castle, you also might see the fairy godmother there, go for breakfast. They breakfast offerings are not so out there and DS is more likely to find something to his likeing.

I thought of GF but she has her heart set on the castle. I'm thinking about the breakfast option at CRT but really wanted to order her a cake too. But birthday cake doesn't usually go with breakfast! :) I hate the idea of paying an adult price for my son to order off of the kids menu....ugh those prices! So maybe we should do a late breakfast and cake somewhere else.

Thanks Everyone!

You could order a chooclate slipper for your daughter even at breakfast - pictures on the cake chatter thread.

Sorry - I thought Christie (OP) was on the Disney Dining Plan...

IF she is paying OOP... then can't she just purchase the kids meal at kids prices? Or perhaps just an appetizer?

WE were on DDP when DD ordered off the kids menu. It just counted as her TSx2 credits on DDP...

Hugs,
Mary

Not for an eleven-year-old, they're considered an adult. You can ask for kids' menu at a fixed price restaurant like CRT for the 11 year old, but not kid's prices. (Don't know how it's done but they might give you a larger portion if you're paying the adult price though.) And CRT is a fixed price restaurant, everyone 3 and over pays one price no matter how much they eat, and you can't pay for just an appetizer.

On the dining plan, two TS credits is two TS credits. (If the kid is eleven and on the plan it would be two TS credits at the adult DDP price, not the child's DDP price, to eat the child's meal)

Honestly, I would do breakfast at the castle and a lunch or dinner elsewhere with a cake. The food at the castle is mediocre at best, with breakfast being (IMO) the best option. We love eating in the castle but always do breakfast and have done lunch at Akershus and dinner at 1900. None of the buffets are our favorite but we have found these to be okay with consistently great character interaction.

We've decided to do breakfast at CRT which has a menu everyone will enjoy. My DD has decided to skip cake and has decided she'd rather have an ice cream sundae at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor. We'll just add a candle and sing "Happy Birthday" to her. So, everyone is happy! :cool1: Thanks again for the advice everyone!
