Yes! When I'm in Disney, I feel like I'm a kid again ... living in the moment and nothing else matters ....:goodvibes

This is so true! All our troubles seem to disappear for a few days, and we are kids again, enchanted and delighted. I am soooo shy, but even I cannot help but wave to Mickey..sigh...

Yup, I could use a few days in our magical place. All in good time...dreams do come true.:cloud9: (and I have this 4 day park hopper burning a hole in my pocket, bugging me to be used.;))

Tomorrow is Thursday, or as I prefer to think of it, "mini Friday". My sil will be at a golf tournament all day Friday so it will be a long day with my SophieBug.
He usually takes her for a couple of hours in the afternoon (I am getting spoiled while he is not working), so it breaks up the day for me - she is a very active and feisty 11 1/2 mo old. I can't wait until it's cool enough to go for a walk everyday...of course, it will be a walk to nowhere, with no sidewalks, but at least we'll get out! ...sigh...I miss the city.

Holding all our pickles near in heart and prayer. Talk soon.

Mornin’ All

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thursday – it’s been quiet here on the Pickle thread. I swear, until Christine posted yesterday, I thought I was a thread killer and was going to have to go over to the “Tkers Take the Fifth” thread:rotfl2:

Anyway, work … is work. At least is almost the weekend. Years ago, when I was younger, Thursdays was a big happy hour night, so I have many memories of going out …or so they tell me.

Tonight I will probably go to the Home & School meeting at Samantha’s school – an excuse for getting together, yakking away and possibility of going out for drinks afterwards (gotta be a reward for attending). I might also make the 9:45 pm HP movie with Paul – we haven’t seen it yet.

Anyone have weekend plans? Not much going on here. Can’t believe the school is getting so close – Sept 8th for us (of course, if there is no strike).

Well, Pickles, Have a Positively Perfect Day. Thinking of you all:goodvibes

Good morning, Janet and any other pickles lurking about today. I know Tracy said she wouldn't be around with her mil in town.

What is a Home & School meeting? Is that like a parent/teacher conference?

Weekend plans for us including going to Brookfield Zoo on Saturday; we're doing this in honor of my dad (it will be one year ago on Saturday that he passed away) because he always loved the zoo; Andy and Nicole are supposed to be going with us, but there is "trouble" in that relationship so not sure if they are going or not; Sunday is up in the air as we are off the entire week--Monday is the dentist, Tuesday the eye doctor, Wednesday is my "test" day and Thursday we are going to watch our awful baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Oh, and Janet...I'm still working on Crystal Palace--I haven't given up yet.

Sam's having a wonderful time ... okay, so she calls me 6 times yesterday, when she gets up to ask me "what 'cha doing?", again to tell me what time they're leaving for the bus, again when they get OFF the bus, walking to American Girl, again when she's in AG, to tell me they have these REALLY cute Honey Puppy PJ's, again after they ate to tell me what they had, then when she's watching the movie Enchanted ...

I guess she doesn't miss me at all :rotfl2:

Today, she has called 3 times, but the day is still young:laughing:

Yes! When I'm in Disney, I feel like I'm a kid again ... living in the moment and nothing else matters ....:goodvibes
That's good that she misses you! Chris was having so much fun when he was in Hawaii, along with the dime difference, I was lucky to talk to him once a day!

It has been quiet...I've been extra busy at work, so haven;t been on as much.
We go back on Sept. 2nd. It is coming up too fast.

The zoo sounds like a great way to remember the gre4at times you had with your Dad. I hope Andy & Nicole are able to put things aside for the day and go. I know it would mean alot.:grouphug:

Just popping (I originally wrote pooping...oopsie :p ) in to say hi. Today is Mark's birthday so we've been playing cards and are getting ready to have a big BBQ. The heat has been absolutely disgusting here. It was actually more bearable in Florida. :confused3

I need to delete my siggy. It's depressing. Kathy, your siggy is looking great! :thumbsup2

Hugs and special thoughts to those who need them. You know who you are.

Love youse berry much!

Love you too, poopsie! :rotfl2:

I hope you get to enjoy some of your time off. I know Wed. won't be pleasant, but hopefully you can do some things for yourself some of the other days. Who knows, maybe the Cubs will even win for you Thurs....:cheer2:

Chris has a fever, and refuses to take any tylenol or motrin. Brian is trying to convince him to take some or take a cold bath.

Happy Birthday, Mark!!!

Aw, Heather, I'm sorry Chris has a fever - hope he feels better very soon. Sending lots of dust.

You know I am thinking of you everyday, Kathy.

I agree, love to all our poopsies.

Tomorrow is TGIF!!!! No idea why I am so happy about it...

Kathy and share a very special day ~ August 22 is also the day my Toby became an angel.

Because we are not home in Boston, we're not sure what we will do..it is the tenth anniversary (unbelievable for me)...we will make a special contribution in his name to a charity he held dear. We wish we had bought one of the Disney Bricks when they became available again - was it last yr or the yr before..maybe it was 2006...anyway, we didn't, so now we are trying to think of a memorial. We do have a stone at a Lighthouse on Martha's Vineyard, dedicated to children of all ages who have passed ~ it is beautiful ~ Toby loved Lighthouses and the ocean.

We also have a Memorial in a Butterfly Garden for children who have passed, but we would like soemthing special this year especially...sigh...I miss him so...he gave the best hugs ever.

Hope it is a good evening, my friends.

Well, it doesn't look like they'll be joining us as Andy just broke it off with Nicole; I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to console her. Why couldn't he do it at her house? :confused3

Who knows, maybe the Cubs will even win for you Thurs....:cheer2:

Chris has a fever, and refuses to take any tylenol or motrin. Brian is trying to convince him to take some or take a cold bath.

I'll be shocked if they actually win a game...they are PATHETIC!
I hope Chris is feeling better soon...that's no fun.

Well now you've gone and done it. I'm about to bawl my eyes out. I am such a sap. Worse than my hubby. Kathy and Christine, I wish you all strength as this weekend approaches. May you find comfort and peace in the happy memories.

Heather - sorry about your little one. Does he not like medication? Poor fella.

I can't remember what else I read in the thread - sorry. Please don't feel left out. My brain is mush these days. I miss chatting and being crazy with ya'll. These flyby posts really stink. We are going on a roadtrip tomorrow so probably won't be on.

Take care and big cuddly hugs from Poopsie. heh

How about naming a star for him? then you could gaze up at it no matter where you are.

Chris is feeling a little better today...I was finally able to get some tylenol in him, and he ate some soup and pretzels. He is still laying on the couch, which is not like him, but he looks much better, and the fever is going down.

I like the idea of naming a star after Toby--good suggestion.

Glad that Chris is feeling a little better.

We did the star naming almost immediately - great suggestion. Then my ever so sensitive cousin said to us - "That's not a real star and the whole think is a big fake." Gee, thanks.

Glad Chris is feeling better today.

Kathy, sooo how are things today with the break-up? Had to be tough happening at your house. I have been in the position of consoling the girl left behind... felt so bad.

Whew.... I sorta hate that you didn't chat it up while I have been slaving away back at my first week of school, but I am even happier, because I don't feel like I missed out too much.

It was a CRAZY week and I even cried I was so overwhelmed, but it is better. I was going to take Monday as a personal day, but I have waaaay too much to do to do it. Oh well.

Girls all have teachers they like and Emily is happy with her schedule at the highschool. I don't know if I have ever mentioned that she has OCD and an anxiety disorder. She is a super student and a great kid, but she puts waaay too much pressure on herself and last year was a nightmare. At least this year she knows what to expect from school.

My middle daughter,Baylie, is in the seventh grade this year. She auditioned for the school tv program and made it, so she will be on tv every morning on their little news program and she can't wait.

Lily will be in fourth grade and is so happy she got a great teacher that is fun. She will actually have 3 of the 4 and loves them all.

I am sending you all lots of love and prayers as you enter into a weekend filled with memories.

Kathy... I'll say a rosary for you on Wed. I am Catholic and that is what we Catholic girls do when we need some special stuff :)

Heather.. hope Chris is better. I hate when little people are sick.

So.... wow.. I promise I'll check in and keep up. Hopefully it will be easier next week, but I am not counting on it :)

Hi Pickles
First – love and hugs to Kathy & Christine today. My first thought was the both of you today.

Sorry I haven’t been on, Thursday night I started not feeling well --headache, upset stomach and Friday was no better. These migraines can make me feel nauseous, and exhausted by the time it is over. The heat has been bad, and I just feel down. I am having problems with my hormones … and it affects my moods and I get these really bad headaches. Oh well, my problems are nothing compared to my other pickles.

Kathy, I think it’s wonderful to remember your Dad by going to the zoo. My Dad died 8 years ago, and he so enjoyed attending one of the fall festivals held down by me, so whenever we go it brings back special memories for me.
Sorry that Andy & Nicole broke up … and to do it in your house, even harder for you.

Christine, I love the star idea. On my last trip home from NY, we stopped at a rest stop that had a gift shop and I remember seeing a plaque with a Eskimo saying about the stars/ sky, so I googled it for you:

"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our
loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."

Heather – sorry your Chris has been sick, but it sounds like he’s on the mend.

Trac – Hope you all had a great Birthday BBQ Bash for Mark! I love road trips, enjoy this one!

Kelly - yes, I have been there to, I can get overwhelmed with work and when school starts, all the activites that I'm involved in. (One of my major contributions if that I run the Yearbook.) I'm already having some anxiety about the school year, so I need to deal with that. Congrats on your Baylie for getting the TV job! BTW, my son also has some anxiety issues, which does create some problems with schoolwork. We are hoping that he is able to focus and have a great school year. My Samantha hasn't found out her teacher yet (next Friday at 4pm!) but hopefully we get the one we both want.

Kari - hope life is getting better:hug:

'Til later, my Pickles (oops, I mean "Poopsies")
Janet

Thanks, Kelly. Glad the girls like their teachers...that is always a plus in my book.

Janet

Thanks, Janet. We just got back from the zoo...it was a little chilly, but a really nice day. The animals were very active today. Just as we got to my favorite animal, the giraffe, I looked at my watch and it was 12:30...the exact time dad passed away. Of course, I sat and had myself a good cry.

I'm really sorry they broke up too. I really liked Nicole, but Andy said he just doesn't see it being long lasting into the future and thought it best to end it now rather than keep dating and then break it off. I know Nicole is devastated...she's called me a couple of times and emailed me. I just don't know what to say to her.

Janet, hope your headaches are better. I can take just about any type of minor pain except headaches--they really wear me down.

Christine...I'm thinking of you...and hope you are holding up okay today.

Kari and Heather...hope you are having good weekends.

:grouphug:

:grouphug: to Kathy & Christine, I know today is rough for you.

Chris is feeling better...he's back to his normal self, picking fights with his sister & all!!!

We were out looking at cars all day, and I'm exhausted. I hate to have to get another car, but ours is starting to give us trouble (just little things, but we want to trade it in before little things become big things) All odf the used cars out there right now seem really overpriced right now (and there's just not much out there, either) We're hoping that maybe if we wait a month or so until after the cash for clunkers thing is over, there might be some better used deals out there.

Tonight is cleaning night, I guess...since we were out all day. I really want to cuddle up with a good book or movie and a glass of wine though.
Hope my Pickles all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Kathy... glad you had a good day at the zoo. I am sure it was bittersweet. Been thinking of you.

Christine, hope your day has been one that is of lovely memories and thoughts. I think the star idea is perfect especially since we now know what they are thanks to that Eskimo saying :)

Jeff and I are going to dinner tonight with friends. It will be nice to have adult conversation :)

I took pictures of my classroom and I'll try to get them up for you. Our school has a Disney theme this year and you KNOW I am happy about that.

Love you pickleroos.
