Kathy... glad you had a good day at the zoo. I am sure it was bittersweet. Been thinking of you.

Christine, hope your day has been one that is of lovely memories and thoughts. I think the star idea is perfect especially since we now know what they are thanks to that Eskimo saying :)

Jeff and I are going to dinner tonight with friends. It will be nice to have adult conversation :)

I took pictures of my classroom and I'll try to get them up for you. Our school has a Disney theme this year and you KNOW I am happy about that.

Love you pickleroos.

I can't wait to see your classroom pictures! A Disney theme sounds awesome!

Hi Pickles! Happy Monday! (ugh!) I hope I didn't kill the thread! Hope you all are ok, too!

Monday Greetings, my friends!

Heather, you could never be a thread killer. ;)

Kelly, I am a retired (not by choice, by economy) pre-school teacher - oh , how I miss my munchkins and everyone beginning a new year - anyway, I'd LOVE to see pics of your classroom, please? Do let me know if you ever have reason to come up this way, we will definitely have lunch...maybe you, Kari and I could find a way for a little NC DIS Meet! :)

Kathy ~ hope you are enjoying your vacation week. :) Continue to hold you near in heart and thoughts.

Kari ~ Court was this morning - not to worry when your turn comes along, it was a breeze...took about an hour and ten minutes, but the room was still packed when I left. Be absolutely sure to take ID and Social Security card with you ~ Those who forgot were given a new date. The end of October the court will send out a "discharge letter".

Janet ~ please tell us you have some relief from that migraine? Sending gentle hugs..thank you so much for the call on Saturday. It did my heart good.

Trac ~ hope you are having a delightful visit with Mark's mother and enjoying family time.

Wishes for a lovely Monday, dear friends.

Thanks, Janet. We just got back from the zoo...it was a little chilly, but a really nice day. The animals were very active today. Just as we got to my favorite animal, the giraffe, I looked at my watch and it was 12:30...the exact time dad passed away. Of course, I sat and had myself a good cry.

I'm really sorry they broke up too. I really liked Nicole, but Andy said he just doesn't see it being long lasting into the future and thought it best to end it now rather than keep dating and then break it off. I know Nicole is devastated...she's called me a couple of times and emailed me. I just don't know what to say to her.

Janet, hope your headaches are better. I can take just about any type of minor pain except headaches--they really wear me down.
:grouphug:

Kathy  to you. I still have my teary moments when thinking of my Dad, but I can say I have much more times when I smile and laugh when I think about his life and all he gave to his family.

Re Nicole, don't have any advice 'cause I haven't been in your shoes ... yet. Maybe just provide a listening ear.

Thanks, Kathy, much better. Besides feeling like crap, I get behind in the other stuff, chores, doing stuff with the kids, etc. We spent a great part of the day on Sunday, helping the kids to clean and organize their rooms. I made myself a promise that both kids needed to be organized for this school year (now I just need someone to help organize me!)

Enjoy your vacation - I will continue to hold you in my thoughts:hug:

We were out looking at cars all day, and I'm exhausted. I hate to have to get another car, but ours is starting to give us trouble (just little things, but we want to trade it in before little things become big things)

Heather - I detest shopping for cars. Howard are I are novices at the negotiation process and feel that it shows in our face! We feel like the salespeople sense an easy prey:laughing: Good luck to you.:)

Monday Greetings, my friends!

Christine
So glad to read this post and get your PM. Was thinking about you Sat & Sunday and almost called again ... yes, I was feeling like myself fully by Sunday. Thanks for asking.:goodvibes Of course all the chores piled up!:sad1:

Happy Monday All!

:grouphug: to Kathy & Christine, I know today is rough for you.

Chris is feeling better...he's back to his normal self, picking fights with his sister & all!!!
Thank you...and I'm so glad Chris is feeling better.

Kathy... glad you had a good day at the zoo. I am sure it was bittersweet. Been thinking of you.

Hi Pickles! Happy Monday! (ugh!) I hope I didn't kill the thread! Hope you all are ok, too!

No...just being on vacation we've been doing a lot of little stuff all day.

Monday Greetings, my friends!

Kathy ~ hope you are enjoying your vacation week. :) Continue to hold you near in heart and thoughts.

Wishes for a lovely Monday, dear friends.

Enjoying our time off...it is a beautiful day and it's going to be 86 tomorrow so maybe I can get some sun before our Florida trip (after we take Cookie to the groomer and go to the eye doctor).

Kathy  to you. I still have my teary moments when thinking of my Dad, but I can say I have much more times when I smile and laugh when I think about his life and all he gave to his family.

Thanks. I have told Nicole that I'm here for her whenever she needs it. To tell you the truth, I just want to shoot Andy right now...I don't know what he is thinking. But then I don't know the whole story. Maybe they just need a break?

I took pictures of my classroom and I'll try to get them up for you. Our school has a Disney theme this year and you KNOW I am happy about that.

Kelly, thought I quoted you earlier - I had such trouble at work today, tried 3 times to post! Oh well. Anyway, this made me think about my daughter's yearbook, we do a theme to it, so cool if it could be Disney!:)

Thanks. I have told Nicole that I'm here for her whenever she needs it. To tell you the truth, I just want to shoot Andy right now...I don't know what he is thinking. But then I don't know the whole story. Maybe they just need a break?

Could be ... sometimes people need a separation to discover if what the have is the real thing. Very difficult on the party that DIDN'T want the breakup. Maybe he has felt this way for a while and with the trip to FL and everything, he was trying NOT to hurt her feelings. Tough all around:sad2:

We are heading out to get school supplies for Paul, get his book for his english project .... yes, he had all summer NOW he's getting the book :rolleyes1 Oh well, at least he didn't tell me 2 days before school started:eek: I told Sam to have her book bag ready ... and she also still has to write a book report before school.

And at some point ... we have to go back to organizing her room :scared1:

Everyone have a good night if I don't make it back on.
J

Hi Pickles!

Christine, I'm glad court went well...I'm sure you're glad it's over now, and you can start over!

Kathy...sorry You're kind of stuck in the middle with the Mark & Nicole situation...that doesn't sound fun. I guess it's better that they ended it now then wind up getting married in a few years and then rrealise it won't work.

Janet...I hear you on the negotiating for a car...Brian usually LOVES it..it's almost the thrill of the hunt for him, but it drives me crazy. We really can't afford to get something else right now, but we also can't afford to keep dumping $$ into this, either. We have had a hard time finding something that seems like even a remotely good deal.

I have to finish up school supplies tonight...I'm going to run Chris over to Staples after his appt tonight...they have 1 cent folders and buy one get one on a lot of basics. He still doesn't have a teacher assignment yet...the principal gave me the standard 4th grade list, so we are using that for now.

Martina is getting her back to schoool haircut tomorrow night...I still have to find a picture of what I want, but I know that anything is better than the Cousin It style she has now.:rolleyes1
She has her orientation on Thurs. morning, and school starts for both of them on Wed.

Sorry I haven't been around today guys. I've been running around most of the day -- Eye Doctor (new biofocals needed--it's he** getting old!), went to Home Depot and got Mickey Heads (they didn't have lime green, so I had to get Alien green) and some flowers that Mark planted for me; took Cookie to the groomer, stopped and saw my mother (something I admit I don't do often enough...we've not been close for many years), went clothes shopping with Andy, talked to Nicole on the phone for 30 minutes (she still is not doing well). Tomorrow is the big day...so keep those fingers crossed and I'll post as soon as I have the official results.

Love all my pickles. :grouphug:

:grouphug: Actually, you did good witht he Alien Green...that's the "official" lime color!

Good luck today...you are in my prayers!

Trac - better late than never...here's a link to one of the many DIS discussion about the awful rash so many get at WDW in the summer.

Kathy ~ praying things went as well as possible today (procedure sounded painful) and hope when you read this, you are home and resting. We love you, our dear pickle friend.

How are the rest of our Pickles? Busy time of year, I know, In some ways I miss the back to school excitement, but in others ways very glad it's over!

Thinking of you all! Love ya! :goodvibes

Hi Pickles!

Janet...I hear you on the negotiating for a car...Brian usually LOVES it..it's almost the thrill of the hunt for him, but it drives me crazy.

Okay, Brian can be our "negotiator" next time we need to buy a used car!!

He still doesn't have a teacher assignment yet...the principal gave me the standard 4th grade list, so we are using that for now.

Sam finds out her teacher Thurs at 4pm ... that's when they post the list at school ... the staff can't get the list up quick enough!:)

Hope the haircut went well .... Sam loves to go to the hair dresser - she likes the pampering!

Hope the orientation goes smoothly ... is Martina looking forward to school?

Okay, I'm ignorant ... what mickey heads are at Home Depot? Stickers?

Christine -- yes, the school stuff is creeping up on me ... the summer always goes too fast. All of a sudden, I'm in a little panic right now thinking about all the stuff I haven't done that I thought I would over the summer. But, I will get through it.

Paul had his physical tonight, dentist appts. & ortho appts coming up.

Even though I don't have as much time to post, I have been thinking about all my pickles .... and hope things are going well for all.

Kathy, you rest up now, you hear?

Love to all:hug:
Janet

Janet

Don't feel bad...I didn't know about them either until reading it on here. They are Mickey heads that are paint samples for the "Disney Paint." I couldn't believe it when I found them I was so excited.

Thanks for the PM!

Love right back at you.

Kathy

Just popping... or pooping in to say hi.
Hopefully I"ll get pics up this weekend of the dogs, kids and classroom!
Kathy.. been thinking of you and praying for you.

Would love a NC DIS pickle gathering :)

Off to bed... can you tell 5 year olds are exhausting?

I sent you all a private message, but the word of the day is BENIGN!:dance3::dance3::woohoo::woohoo:

That is the best news I've heard all day. Amen. I am sure that is one big load off your shoulders. What a weight that was to bear. I am so SO thrilled for you.

Happy Saturday Pickles!
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! Thurs nite we checked the school and Samantha got the teacher she wanted :woohoo: Also, one of her best buds is in the same class!!:yay:

We were going to head down to Aquarium in Baltimore inner harbor last night after work, but we scrapped those plans ... just a long work week, got home late yesterday, the rain, etc. We also are going to the Yankees game tomorrow at the Stadium so we figured this day would be our kind of catch up, clean up day. (Christine, the Yanks won last night's game in the bottom of the 10th, 3 run HR!!)

Trac - is Mom still visiting? I'm sure you are having a blast!
Kari - hope things are going okay for you. Miss hearing from you.

Kathy - I going to swing by Home Depot to see if I can get some Mickey Heads, lime green, of course:)

I am going to TRY and do some organizing today ... all my photos that I've taken for the yearbook over the last 6 years :scared1: I have to get this done before another school year starts. We usually meet in Sept to start the planning process for the yearbook. Did I mention that I chair this committee?? I'm INSANE!! Oh well, my last year, makes me a little :sad2: and

Be safe out there, you hear?
Janet

Good Morning!

Janet ~ I will begrudgingly, and only b/c you are friend, congratulate you on the Yankees win!! ;)

I've been glued to the Teddy Kennedy Memorial and right now watching the funeral. So sad. I hope people will remember him for his good and not his personal failures (he turned over a very new leaf 17 yrs ago). He has always been one of the few who was an authentic advocate for all of us, especially those of us in MA and especially those without a voice. Perhaps one day, thanks to Teddy, people like me will have health care.

Anyway....it is a beautiful Mass. RIP, Teddy.

Thanks, Christine.

Yes, Kari we miss you. And Janet, hope you get those Lime Green Mickey heads.

I agree with you. I hope people will also remember Ted Kennedy for the good he did in the world and not his own personal shortcomings. He has been a long respected member of the Senate. My boss was devastated when he heard the news; having worked in the JFK administration, he has remained close with all of the Kennedys, especially Ted and Caroline.

Blessings on your day, dear friends. :grouphug:
