Phrases you hate

"Waiting on line." No, you are waiting IN line, unless you are physically standing ON a line.
"Gone missing" and "went missing." The word is "disappeared."
"I's," as in "Joe and I's anniversary." I isn't ever used as a possessive pronoun. You mean "my" or "mine."
"On purpose." You need to use the adverb- "purposely." Same thing with "by accident." "Accidentally" is the correct word.
"My bad." Your bad what?

Then there are all the improperly used words: They're, their, and there, whose and who's, to, too, and two, and words like those. At least, I only see those when they are written, and not spoken, too.

I also hate "baby mama/daddy" and the vulgar words/phrases: Suck, pie hole, screwed, etc. There are better, more polite ways to express yourself!

"It's all good" - drives me crazy. Usually my husband says it, when we are talking about something (when he wants to end the conversation) ha-ha - It's all good!

Grammatical errors make me cringe too. Or just a misuse of words. One I've seen often is "loose/loosing/looser", when the person actually means "lose/losing/loser".

I also don't like "No problem" in reply to "Thank you". Something similar I hear often from kids is "I'm good", instead of "No, thanks." For example, I'll ask one of DS's friends, "Would you like a Coke?". He says "I'm good". Really? It's a yes or no question. Do you want a Coke or not? I didn't ask "How are you?" Drives me nuts.

For the most part none of these phrases/words bother me enough to warrant mentioning except for one: baby bump. And if you've noticed its used primarily when describing a celebrities pregnancy. Most people in real life don't use the phrase baby bump.

Sorry, but this is one of those common misuses of a word that drives me crazy!

I deserve that (I guess)... I do know the difference between the two, but it was more a grammatical error more than anything. I guess we all make mistakes online and for those who don't, have been given the responsibility of playing forum police. I guess this thread now includes the misuse of words instead of phrases we dislike. My most sincere and utmost apologies for having driven you crazy for my inappropriate action here on the DIS. Someday I can only hope to achieve such a lofty level to be able with a clean conscience point out the misuse of words such as reigns, reins, do, due, red, read, blew, blue, too, two, to, sent, scent and etc.

I hear that phrase all the time. I think it's very common and it doesn't bother me in the least. It's usually descriptive, such as the size of one's baby bump...

"Put your hands together for....." I don't know why but I can't stand this. I know it means to clap for someone, but putting your hands together really isn't clapping.
"Baby mama"......Grrrr, it sounds, to me anyway, that the actual mother (mama) is a baby.
And yes, cray cray is a new one I've been hearing lately and I don't like that one either.

ETA, "my bad"...it sounds like baby talk to me.

Maybe it's a regional thing as well. I never hear other women referring to a pregnant women's stomach as a baby bump where I'm from. I only hear or read it when dealing with celebrities.
