Does anybody know how photopass is going to work when the parks reopen? Will there still be photopass photographers around? And if the tickets I have include Maxpass, will I be able to retain the photopass benefit of that?

I've asked on the Disney chat, but they say due to high volume, it could be days for me to hear back, so I thought I'd try here, knowing some of you have experience with how WDW has done it.

There were Photopass photographers at TOD, and it worked the same as it always has, including magic shots. Don't know about the MaxPass/Photopass thing.
Thanks! So did you have to buy individual pictures then if you wanted them? I don't remember how it worked pre-MaxPass now.

Previously, you could buy days of Photopass, or you could buy individual pictures. The nice part was that the photographer would give you a Photopass card with a QR code that was scanned, and you could decide once you started to see how much you were using the Photopass whether or not you wanted to buy the whole thing or just a few pix. Until you purchased PP, there was a watermark on your pictures.

I vaguely remember this now!

So heard back on the chat -

The price of Maxpass on old tickets is non-refundable. The only choice is refund the entire ticket, which clearly I'm not doing since I have reservations attached to it. Frustrating, but not surprising.

But she also said they don't have any information on the photographers or photopass in the parks at this moment and to check back after park opening. So if anybody is going in the early days, will you report back? I really just want to be able to get a pic of my family in front of the castle - but hate the idea of doubly paying for it, when it's already supposed to be included in the price of the Maxpass.

I also have an email in, so I'll update if they actually respond or it says anything different.

If I had to take a guess they are going to do Photopass like they did before max pass came out. Where you just paid a flat rate. My wife and I got engaged at DLR in 2017 and I just paid like $80 for the whole week were they and we got access to all the photos like you would with max pass. Was a great way to get tons of engagement photos for CHEAP! Right now WDW is calling it Memory maker but ouch, thats expensive:

This is possibly a dumb q, but anyone who has visited disney world or TOD might know...can you take masks off for two seconds to take a photopass pic (I assume you definitely cannot to take pics with your own phones)? I don’t really care either way but I am curious.

No, masks must stay on.

A year ago when there was still hope of them reopening the parks I had a package booked with tickets and hotel. When they cancelled MaxPass in the fall (or whenever it was) they refunded that portion of my ticket. It might be worth another call to talk to someone else to see if they will refund that portion for you.

Granted, since it was a package they ended up cancelling it so I don't have those tickets anymore anyways.

Disney World is now allowing maskless pics as of 2 weeks ago, but don't think will carry over to DL.

We have a lot of mask Photopass pix from WDW. Kind of a unique way to remember the year of the pandemic.

I also have a photopass question that I will ask here instead of starting a new thread. Before the pandemic, you could hand your camera/phone to one of the photopass photographers and they would take a picture with it. Does anyone know if that will still be true when the parks reopen?

Thank you to anyone who can help.

I don’t believe that’s allowed anymore.

At Touch of Disney, CMs were not allowed to take a picture with a guest’s phone.

As mentioned, Photopass was included with ToD tickets, so all photos from that were “free.” I will miss having Photopass included (which we’d had on our APs since 2016).

Nope, cast members can’t take pictures with your phone right now.

How would you feel about touching a complete stranger's phone right now? Would you mind if someone who has been touching dozens of strangers' phones in the last hour touches your phone? Remember that some people still actually hold their phone up to their mouth to make calls. Beyond that, almost everyone takes their phone into the restroom with them. Also, remember back to the onset of the pandemic, when there was a run on handsoap and toilet paper, as if milliions of people were not actually using these products routinely pre-2020. I always thought that it was odd that they were willing to touch people's phones pre-pandemic. It would be absolutely out of the question to expect it right now. An actual camera would be much more sterile, but who still carries a camera with them.

We have had people offer to take pictures on our phone at Downton Disney and Touch of Disney. We’ve returned the favor. Everyone’s carrying hand sanitizer and uses it afterward. Not a big deal. 🤷‍♀️
