Photopass/Memory maker

I've been an active visitor to WDW since 2010, by that I mean I go most every year now. I purchased Photopass in 2010. I prepaid and the cost was $99.00, I haven't paid much attention to purchasing it since then but now I see the price has increased from $99.00 to $169.00!
I'm no mathematician but I know that is almost double in 5 years. That is an incredibly large increase. Inflation and supply/demand could not cause that much cost. In fact, I strongly believe Disney is making a very large profit from the Memory Maker as it is called now.

I noticed the increase from the last time we went last year and was a little shocked myself. Don't get me wrong, I totally love the Memory Maker and think it's definitely worth it. We split the cost between ourselves and 2 families that usually travel with us, but I don't know if we would spend that much on it alone.

What you bought in 2010 for $99 isn't the same thing that's being sold now for $169, plus $99 was what you paid if you bought it before you left for your trip - if you waited until you got home, it was $149. The PhotoPass CD that was sold in 2010 only included meet and greet photos and photos taken by PhotoPass photographers around the parks. Memory Maker (and by the way, Memory Maker hasn't taken the place of PhotoPass; PhotoPass is the photo-taking service, Memory Maker is a product you can buy) includes those pictures as well as ride photos (and a couple of the rides now also have videos) as well as the photos taken at a lot of the character meals.
