PhotoPass Discount

I would love to pre-order the CD and use the discoutn. However, we will not return from our until early Sept, and ordering our CD probably the end of Sept. But I read that you could only "pre-purchase the PhotoCD up to 60 days before your vacation. The codes are set to expire after 60 days after purchase, so please allow yourself ample time after adding the photos to order the PhotoCD (i.e., it's best to order no sooner than 30 days prior to your vacation's start)."

But they also said that "Note that although the coupon code will expire after 60 days of purchase, some guests have reported success by getting it re-activated by Disney's PhotoPass support. "

Has anyone had it re-activated? Is it too much of a risk to order it that early and should I just eat the $15 savings?

Thanks!

Last year I preordered for the $99 in January for our August trip and after not being able to redeem the code they sent me I called and they told me that they expire in 6 months. She was able to reset it for me no problem...just dont wait until your photos are ready to expire to find this out. I had a few panicky days thinking they werent going to get back to me in time. I would think it is the same this year but the expiration is down to 60 days....seems odd they would do that but I am ordering mine and not worrying about it.

I pre-ordered my CD the other day, and we're not going until 8/24 and coming back right before Labor Day. When I asked about that, I was told there wouldn't be a problem ordering the CD now to use in August/September.

I'm not going until 8/15 but am about to order this ... great deal.

Will someone help me with this please....:rotfl2: We will not be going until Sept. If I order this now, am I right in thinking that we will only have to reset our pin number to access this. I am at 90 days out on June 21st, a few days after the deadline. Advice please:worship:

Again, I am going on August 15th so waiting until right before the promotion ends on June 15th wont help me. I am off to order this now.....this is the BEST deal I have ever seen and I am afraid it will disappear.

As a caution...I am using my Disney Visa to make sure I am "eligible" for this promotion since it came with the Disney Visa saving booklet.

The Mom's Panel over at disneyworld.com discourages early ordering of the CD. One mom said to get it 30 days out. I would hate to lose this deal.

I'm torn - any advice? TIA

I ordered. Our trip is way more than 90days out (which is when I've heard the promo code in the e-mail expires)

I figure it doesn't say it expires, so worst case is if they give me crap later I'll just dispute the charge with Chase and go on with my life.

I don't see how they can put an expiration date on something like this without being upfront about it....?

Thank you, I need that ::Duh:: moment!!! I am not going to let this deal pass me by! I'll just be sure to keep all my paperwork in my Disney binder!

Haha, thats the beauty of credit cards! :)

Does anyone know if this code will work for photopass cds for DL? I know the cd's are cheaper than for WDW. Has anyone tried? We will be in Anaheim July 5-July 8 but I am wondering if this code would be good for me too?:confused3

I emailed the Photo Pass site and asked:
"Can I pre-order my CD now for our trip in December? I just
got a great discount code with my Visa Card and would love to use it!"

This is the reply I got:
"Thank you for your recent visit to DisneyPhotoPass.com.

The pre-purchase offer is made available through the marketing
department of Disney Destinations. In order to receive this prepurchase
offer, the guest must meet the following guidelines:

-Have an upcoming reservation in a Walt Disney World Hotel

-Have their email address on file in the marketing database

-Have opted in to receive email from the Walt Disney World company

If you meet these requirements, you can expect to see this email about
10 days prior to your arrival. Once you have received this email, you
are within a safe time frame in which to make your prepurchase without
worry that your promotion code/s will expire.

If you do not receive this offer, it could be because your email address
is not on file and/or permission was not granted to send marketing
messages to you. Also, if you booked through a travel agent, we may not
have your email address in our database. The pre-arrival offer is meant
for guests who purchase before their trip.

If you have lost your offer, we regret that we are not able to replace

Anyone else having a problem making sense of this - or am I just brain-dead?

It seems like a mass email that doesn't really answer any questions.

They don't ask for an email attached to a reservation or anything when you order, so why would any of that matter?

Again- how can they let us buy it and then deny the code? Even if they do, just dispute the charge with the credit card company.

I'd summarize the email below as "If you didn't get the email with the link to pre-order, then you shouldn't be pre-ordering the CD." So, the official answer to your question is "no".

We all know the pre-order link is easily available via the internet, and if Disney really wanted to restrict it to guests staying at their resorts who have an email on file and have opted in for promotions, they could program it that way! I received an email from Disney 7 days before my upcoming trip and I did the pre-order that day. I do plan to actually order the CD just before 60 days is up so I can combine June & July trips on it.

Personally, I'm not using the discount code to pre-order for a trip that's farther out than the 60 day expiration will work with because I think the added hassle of getting Disney to re-activate a pre-order promotion code that I'm not even eligible for according to them doesn't sound fun!

I do think they should include notice of the 60 day expiration in the email they send out because it's rather naive of them to think that the only people using the link in the email to pre-order will be those they send it to!

I emailed the Photo Pass site and asked:

I just called the customer service line for PhotoPass. I spoke with Mike. He said that I could order it anytime before my trip and if I get home from the trip and it is expired, just call them with the code in the confirmation email and they will fix it. This was as of 6/3/09 @ 1030.

So, I am going to preorder while I can use the 15% off code. I will put it on my DisneyVisa. :cool1: We always take lots of pics, but also use the PhotoPass photographers a lot as well. This will definitely be worth it for our trip.

Thanks for posting the code.:worship: I just pre ordered my CD for our August 8-22 trip.

Thank you for posting the code! :thumbsup2

I opted out of paper statements and never received the info. I just opted back in so I don't miss any more deals. :sad2:

I found this on another photopass info site..(not sure if I can post address or not?)

PhotoCD - There are a couple of big ways to save on the PhotoCD. First is by pre-purchasing PhotoCD up to 60 days before your vacation. The codes are set to expire after 60 days after purchase, so please allow yourself ample time after adding the photos to order the PhotoCD (i.e., it's best to order no sooner than 30 days prior to your vacation's start). Note that although the coupon code will expire after 60 days of purchase, some guests have reported success by getting it re-activated by Disney's PhotoPass support

So now I am confused again.:confused3

What's confusing about this? I believe the conclusion on this thread and others is that the code expires after 60 days and that you can most likely get it re-activated (with some amount of effort) if you purchase it earlier than that and it expires. This is also what you've posted above. So, what's confusing? :confused3

I'm with you Piecey! I had my friend who's also traveling Sept/Oct order hers as well. We've always pre-ordered WAY in advance and never had a problem. :) There was nothing in the confirmation email about it expiring...just that it had to be used w/in 30 days of the end of the trip.

Does anyone know if you can apply the Disney Reward from the Visa Card?

The codes used to expire after 6 months and sometime late last year it switched to 60 days. If you pre-ordered WAY in advance prior to the end of last year, it has no bearing on the way things are done now. A code ordered now will show as expired if you attempt to use it in Sept. You can work with Photopass to re-activate it and it may be quick and simple or it may be a hassle. Back when I needed to do it, it would have been quite a hassle because the only contact was via email, but I believe they have a phone # now, so it may be simpler. But, the code will be expired, so be sure to plan to try to order, see that it's expired, and then get it re-activated several days before pictures start expiring so that you don't lose out on any pictures. :hippie:
