Photopass CD for $99

Right. When we went in Sept, they took a picture of us with my girls holding Tink and it was there to buy. It was the same price as all the others. But if I remember correctly, it wouldn't let me edit that one; I couldn't add a border or anything. All other photos could have a border added or a signiture etc...

Yes, I believe you can pick a bigger size if you want to; they offer only 5x7, 8x10 and wallets.

O.K. please be patient with me..just to clarify....from the CD I could print a picture with my family & Tink ( I know provided we took one) and print it in 5X7 or 8X10 when I got home. Or do those have to be ordered through Disney and you can't print those yourself?

Yes. The pictures taken with Tink or Stitch at the entrance to MK or MGM are included on the photopass card and can be bought at home.

What is a Photo Pass... My husband and I and our 8 year old daughter are going Jan 21st and have no clue what this is... can someone fill me in because it sounds interesting and something that I would probably want to do... I am a photo Fenatic...

D you have to buy the CD on your last day or do they mail it to you later?

Yvonne

I am not familiar with this--how do they keep track of all of your pictures?????
thanks

Friends of ours shared their recent photos they purchased and many had Disney "add ins" such as Simba or Mickey and Minnie, etc beside them in their pics. Some were great, others were sort of cheesy, but I guess in the grand scheme of things, it would be nice to have.

Photopass is the new way you can look at and buy most of the photos that are taken in the parks. When the first photographer takes your photo on Main Street for example, he'll ask if you have a Photopass card yet. Then he will scan it and take the photos and hand you the card. From then on you hand the photographers the card and they scan it before they take the pictures.

Then you can look at the photos and buy them when you get home!! They'll be available for 30 days but they usually extend the time they leave them there.

You can add a border or the year to them online.

It's just another way to see and order the photos taken at Disney.

They are the same price online as they would have been if you bought them at WDW.

I believe you can still see them and buy them at WDW if you are afraid to wait till you get home (some have reported their photos not there when they get home).

If you forget your card in your room, they'll just give you another one. Then when you get home, you can combine the photos from both cards.

You might want to write your name on the back of the card to identify it. Some have reported getting someone else's card back by accident. Only a marker will work for this.

I hope this helps you understand Photopass. Now the OP is talking about something else new; that you can have all the photos on your Photopass card put onto a disc for $99 and then get them printed out anywhere you want instead of through Disney...at Walmart or anywhere and any size.

OP was talking about having all your Photopass pictures put on a CD for $99. Essentially you're buying the files. You then can print your own pictures and not pay Disney's high prices. I'm pretty sure that is what OP is saying. Someone correct me if I'm totally off base.

You can also purchase the pictures from Disney. I don't know how much they are through Disney. If you plan to print a lot it seems the $99 would be a bargain.

Is photo pass only available to those staying on site?

No, it's available to anyone who has a photo taken at WDW by the Photopass photographers.

Am I the only person whose photos came out horrible? DH and I just got back today and I just couldn't wait to get online to see the photos. To my great disappointment there isn't a single usable one. We look like beings from outer space in most of them. :rotfl2: My husband looks pink as a lobster and I look ghastly yellow. The compositions are pretty bad too. Funny thing is, I have a couple of photos that the Photopass photographer took with my digital camera, and in those shots we look like our normal selves. :confused3

I am sorry - but I do not think this is worth $99. Epecially seeing how I come home to find that my cards have lots of missing pictures and pictures of people I don't know on them

You are correct.

Downside: If only let say, 4 pictures are real good - at even $15 each for a 5x7 - you would only spend $60 at Disney.

Not a good deal in my opinon unless you are able to see all of the pics and the quality of that CD before you fork over $100 plus tax for a CD.

The first photographer you approach can give you a photopass card which is a little plastic card with a barcode on it. Then on the card is scanned when a photo is taken and therefore linked to that account. You can go to the camera shops in the parks to view them or view them later online.

As another poster stated I can see where the cards could get mixed up... perhaps this is the reason many people report missing pictures or pictures of others. All the cards look the same. I can see how it would be easy for a mix up to happen. I think that next trip we will mark our card as suggested in another post... although I have to say that we've never gotten a photo of other people on our account and though we have many taken I've not noticed any missing.

Just back today and did the photopass cd too. I think it is a great deal as well. I also didn't know until the next to last day and if I did would have got every photopass picture take available. My suggestion would be to get them all made - as many as possible. Especially if you have little ones going to meet characters at toon town, etc. The guy at the Grand Floridian told me that the CD was new just after Christmas so they are working out a few kinks. The one for me was that one guy said you could add to the CD every day. The next day the guy said no could only burn once. So my suggestion would be wait until the end of your trip. Take all photopass cards and burn one cd. You can modify as many as you want, add borders, enlarge, etc. You get a copy of the original and the modified on your CD. It works on MAC and PC. The great thing is you get the copyright so you can take it anywhere, print any size, as many copies as you want. I just viewed my picutures and they look great.

You don't have to buy the CD before you view your pctures. Look at them first. Decide how many you want. Decide if it a bargain or not. But, disney charges 29.99 for 2 5X7 so if you have many pictures that you want it works great.

Right, but one 5X7 is $15. In all parks, I have always been made to purchase the 5X7 two-up. Still $15 a picture and unless you have members in your party that want the same picture - why would you want 2?

Logic to me is, if I go with another family and we each want one and we only want 4 of the pictures, I am still looking at $60. Besides, the pictures I take always come out better than the ones I get from Photopass. Only thing they can do that I cannot is add the wording, characters, etc.

Also, pictures from attractions are not included in photopass - so truthfully, unless that changed in the past 6 months, that would only include character photos, etc.

I wouldn't want two 5x7 of the same picture either but I might want a 4x6 instead. For us it was worth it because of the character pictures for my kids and the ones of the castle etc. It wouldn't be cheaper for everyone.

I have done it and it is very cute and in my opinion a good deal. You can upload your own pictures to use and even get ones from your photopass account.

So, you can also add your own pictures (digital pictures only I assume) to this photopass CD along with the ones you want from your photopass account? Might be handy to have both my pics and the photopass pics all on one CD.

I think this thread has taken on a life of it's own! There are sorta 2 topics here...the PhotoPass CD and the Photo Movie DVD. I think what the poster was talking about was the Photo Movie - you download any pictures you want (Photopass or ones you took) and "send" them to Disney, and they design this Photo Movie DVD for you. The PhotoPass CD includes ALL you PhotoPass pictures from the trip burned (by Disney) onto a CD. Maybe when you get home you could add your own pictures by burning to the Disney CD? :confused3 Any technically-inclined folks know if that's possible?
