Photopass CD for $99

NO Picture CD is worth $99.00 IMHO.... Especially a CD full of pictures that you will have to invest more money in to get printed, whether you are paying Walgreens to do it or doing it yourself and paying for the materials. My opinion? Take the $100.00, invest in a digital camera, and ask the photopass guy/gal to take your picture with YOUR camera... They are always more than happy to do it.

Absolutely. You can then burn your own CD, with hundreds of pictures on it, for about $5.

I was at Disney for 9 nights in October. The first 2 nights I had my DD(6) and we were joined by friends from FL my DFriend and her DD(6). Then the rest of my family(DH, DS(4), DD(2) and Dfriend) joined us for the last 7 nights.

Here's what I purchased from Photo Pass:

1 5 X 7 plus 4 wallets of the 2 girls(6 yo's) with Tink in their hand. $19,95

1 5 X 7 plus 4 wallets of the girls, my friend, myself with castle. I put the gold castle/tink 2005 logo on this photo $19.95

1 5 X 7 of my DD(6) with Tower of Terror, I put MGM logo on this $12.95

1 5 x7 of my DD(6) and friend's DD(6) with Jasmine & Alladin, I put flag Mickey Epcot logo on this one $12.95

1 5 x 7 of my DD(6), DS(4) with Sulley, I put Sulley's signature on this one $12.95

1 5 x 7 of my DD(6), DS(4) dressed for MNSSHP with castle in the background. This shot was taken from just outside Crystal Palace-not on Main St and the photographer had them stand on a bench. Its a really great shot. I put the gold Mickey Ears WDW 2005 logo on this. $12.95

1 5x7 of DD's holding baby simba with AK 2005 Logo. $12.95

SO...that totals 104.65. There was a 30% discount if you spent over $100 bringing it to $73.22 or $75.71 with shipping.

I think the CD would be a good deal for me as I would actually rather have 4 x 6 photos and there were some other good shots that I just didn't want to pay $12.95 for. I would also seek out more photographers if I knew I could get a CD with all the photos for 1 fixed price. I also really like the idea of adding all those borders before having the CD burned.

I thought the photos were pretty good and I do consider myself a pretty good photographer. The one that I was most disappointed with was DD with Tower of Terror. The photographer could have made a much better effort at getting more of the tower in her photo. The photo was pretty good of my DD so I actually just cropped it very close to be more of just my DD. The quality of the photo is very good for such a tight crop. I did take a great shot of the girls with the castle but I also wante the one with Tink in their hands.

I think in few years I'll have no regrets that I spent $75 for these photos!

Just back today and did the photopass cd too. I think it is a great deal as well. I also didn't know until the next to last day and if I did would have got every photopass picture take available. My suggestion would be to get them all made - as many as possible. Especially if you have little ones going to meet characters at toon town, etc. The guy at the Grand Floridian told me that the CD was new just after Christmas so they are working out a few kinks. The one for me was that one guy said you could add to the CD every day. The next day the guy said no could only burn once. So my suggestion would be wait until the end of your trip. Take all photopass cards and burn one cd. You can modify as many as you want, add borders, enlarge, etc. You get a copy of the original and the modified on your CD. It works on MAC and PC. The great thing is you get the copyright so you can take it anywhere, print any size, as many copies as you want. I just viewed my picutures and they look great.

this sounds ideal, where did you go do burn the CD? Epcot or GF? did you add the borders there before they burned the CD or are you suggesting to add the borders on your own software at home? was there a workspace that you used and how long did it take? I can see myself getting carried away and spending 2-3 hours there :rotfl: with the way I like to play with the photos. thanks for the info!

if you stop everywhere and end up with 30 or 50 pictures on the CD - it is worth the 99 bucks (or Mickey dollars) - the pics are awesome.

super technologically challenged...can I email the pictures from the CD to family?

I think this thread has taken on a life of it's own! There are sorta 2 topics here...the PhotoPass CD and the Photo Movie DVD. I think what the poster was talking about was the Photo Movie - you download any pictures you want (Photopass or ones you took) and "send" them to Disney, and they design this Photo Movie DVD for you. The PhotoPass CD includes ALL you PhotoPass pictures from the trip burned (by Disney) onto a CD. Maybe when you get home you could add your own pictures by burning to the Disney CD? :confused3 Any technically-inclined folks know if that's possible?

You are right. I was answering a question someone had about the photopass movie.......

Since you have the rights to the pictures I would assume so.. you could upload them to a site, print them ... do anything you want with them.

That is why it is such a great deal... one photopass pic is like $16.00 bucks!!

Is there any "official" information on this? What about locations to purchase, GF and EPCOT only?

I don't know if there is official info. Call the gift shop in the second floor of the GF. Just got back yesterday and the man there said the CD was new since Christmas. We stayed at the GF so it was very convenient. The shop is open 8am-10pm. I liked it because after I knew about the CD I stopped for photopass all over the place that I normally wouldn't because I wouldn't pay 15.00 per picture but instead got 25 pictures and modified 15 of them for $99.

MMW-

just to clarify?? if you get all of the pics on a cd, you can add borders, crop, etc at the gf then take them home for viewing, do you know if you could make duplicates...? for example, have different borders on the same duplicated picture? TIA

I would think you could. It was very easy. I went back several times because I was staying at the GF. There was never a line. A CM stands right there and helps you. First they load all you photopass cards into the computer and a copy of all the pictures goes on the cd. Then you can choose which ones to modify. A few pushes of the buttons and you can crop it, enlarge it, add a border. I don't see why you couldn't do the same picture with two borders. Then after you modify lets say half of the originals then they put a copy of those on the cd too and give you a copy. You get a waiver to take to your developer if anyone were to ask. You can also edit again when you get home. I talked to 3 different CMs at the GF gift shop. They were all very nice and it was not complicated. I had 30 pictures total and modified about half of them. Hope this helps.

sweet!! that helps a whole lot!! all that confusion just went out the window for me, thanks a lot!! I can't wait to try this...

photopass photographers watch out!! :goodvibes

I don't think so. That was a problem for me. I went the first day after MK to view my pictures and decided to do a CD. The CM told me I could come back and add pictures later. So after our day at AK I went back to add but the new CM said no you could only do it once. He got his manager on the phone and they let me do a new cd and then told me the cd was a new product just after Christmas and they were working out the kinks. You might want to check. But from the info I got I would wait until the end of your trip to do your cd.

Someone explain where and how you modify your pics before they get burned on the CD.

For those of you thinking of using your Disney pics for X-mas cards the fact that you have the copyright is awesome...no more hassles from the stores.

Thanks....I totally missed that post. Can't wait to go in October and buy that Cd.

This is a fantastic deal! We used PhotoPass in December 2004 (when the system was quite new) and had 50+ photos over 2 cards. When we got home, I checked our photos out immediately and all the photos were there and were of decent quality. The photos remained on the website for about 4 months - I ordered twice as we had an introductory deal and then a special offer before they removed the photos.

Although we live in Scotland, the photos arrived quickly - about 10 days after ordering - we were very impressed with the service. The 8 x 10 had a little bit of transit damage (nothing major and wasn't visible after the photo was in a frame) but I felt the packaging for this size could have been sturdier, especially for international shipping.

We spent over the $99 mark altogether, so we'll definately be getting the CD this time around! The DVD wasn't available then either, so I guess we'll be getting one of those, too! :teeth:

The CD is going to be a lot easier to take home than all those 8 x 10's we used to try to pack in our suitcases and keep them flat! :rotfl2:

I just hope that by our February trip the CD is offered at more locations. EPCOT is the second park we visit so the other two park would not be included and being on a strict schedule with the High School Band we will not be able to get over to the GF. Anyone know who I can contact to see if they have other locations because I really would be interested in the CD? I would think that they would have a location at DTD and that would work out great because the band depart for home from there.
