Darn, I just lost a whole response due to pop ups (has anyone else been having this issue on the Dis? We generally don't get pop ups but on this site there've been a lot, despite our pop up blocker...)

Trying again. Don't have time to quote today. From the top of my head:

Thanks, guys. Let's move forward.

Lynn, those are fine. Nice shots from the Oly contingent! :goodvibes I have a bunch myself from vacation that I need to get working on.

rmdavis, actually I really liked the Mountain Dew shot, and it was fun! Definitely not trying to squash anyone's creativity here; I welcome it. The points make it a little tricky though...

PrincessinOz, you can see your growth as a photographer. So glad this has helped and that it's gotten you guys out a bit. I know the winters here are really hard to do anything productive photographically so I give you all a lot of credit for getting out there. Somehow when I was putting together the list Australia kept coming to mind. And I didn't even realize it was winter (that really might have thrown me!).

pednurse, great root beer shot then! No, my DH is from MA, but says there was a Dog n Suds near where he grew up. I never heard of it, :confused3 but it sure looks like something I'd enjoy on a hot day!

dizneydaz - #837 Celebration of Independence - please show something 4th of July related (I know you said it was your way of celebrating, but that could have been anywhere, any day, etc). Rollercoaster - that was taken from the top, I believe, then it counts. Unusual mirror, sorry, no - the mirror itself needs to be unusual or ornate. #842 Please explain the Win. Also Kite - is the name of the ride the Kite? (I was looking more for a handheld kite.) Great job finding an ox bow, I didn't know if anyone would get that!

Thanks I just happened to take that picture of the oxen at the Orange Co. fair on Friday, before I read your post. I could have gotten so many more if I had read it first.

Re: Mirror-I thought the mirror being on a double decker bus was unusual but I'll find another one.

#842-This is a picture of the girls winning the Let's go Fishing. See the fishes they caught on the hooks?

I can't remember the name of the ride so I'll get one with a real kite. I thought this one may be too creative.

Unfortunately that was the best I could do for Independence day since we aren't allowed fireworks in our city, not even sparklers:confused:. The only way you can tell it's Indepedence Day is that my DD and DNephew are wearing red white and blue. I'll unsubmit it. Guess I won't be able to get that one.

Thanks for all your hard work-now on to take more pictures.:goodvibes

You know what it is - think about it from the perspective of someone who went out of their way to get fireworks pics, or a kite in flight when they don't have kids, etc. It seems unfair when they've done that and someone else comes along who substitutes a "word picture" or something equally oversimplified or overstretched to get equal points. (Our Australian friends here have been running all over the country - in winter! lol.) That's all I mean. I love creativity and absolutely encourage it here. :thumbsup2

No worries-I didn't even think about our Australian and Canadian friends. :) I have the advantage of going to Disneyland quite a few times this summer where I'm sure I can get some more pictures. Conversely I know I'll never get a picture of a Hoe Down-there's nothing here that even comes close.

I'm thinking of going to the OC Fair again in the next week or so. I'm going to go with your list in my bag so I can get more of the harder (for me) to get pictures. I knew I should have taken pictures of that Holstein and that Long Horn Steer.

Thanks again for this thread. It's adding a little extra to my summer. :cool1:

Just took some pix out in our yard (our own mini stay-cation). Here are a few more for your review.

I was going to try and get creative with the lighting for this...but it must have been 150degrees farenheit up there. So a quick grab on this will do.

Small world. Great pics.

Hope they move forward with Museum Plaza.

They looked familiar, huh?;) Glad to see another Kentuckian on here, and a Louisvillian to boot! There are a couple of us here.

Yeah, I go past the Museum Plaza site every day and I never see any activity. I guess they're getting all their ducks in a row before construction. Maybe it'll be done around the same time the bridges are built!:rotfl2:

Jeep

I remember driving around for a while trying to think of what I wanted to do for an "X." After a while I gave up and looked to my left to watch the sunset for a second and I noticed this in my mirror. It looks like one, but there's actuallty 2 "X's"- one on the front and one on the back of the bridge.
