Photographing Pets

This is my new "pet" Pete the Pelican :lmao:

This is Oscar. Most of my pictures of him are while he's sleeping, because that's all he does:goodvibes.

I love seeing everyone's babies!

I'm new to the photography board and am learning a lot - thanks for all the tips [although I really don't need any other reason to spend MORE money...].

I'm taking a beginner's photography class and one of our assignments included shots of our pets. I must have taken a hundred pictures of my Rowdy, who was patient at first then began to get a little aggravated...

Hey, he does look kind of majestic in the white room on that big, jewel colored bed, LOL. (Did you know these were the dogs of kings?)

Congratulations! :goodvibes

Thanks! Yes, I did know that about them. They really are very nice dogs - this guy was very new to the fold and still settling in but he was often in the best bed in the house! LOL

Here's a quick shot of our neighbors new foal born today. He was about 2 hours old at this point and quite wobbly! Then when the legs got going you didn't know what was going to happen but it usually started with a little buck - so cute! He was a couple of weeks over due but decided to arrive on a nice warm day rather than in one of the snow storms we've had recently.

I have one of those "special" Labradors too! Jack just turned 5 last week and he is petrified of our basement stairs, he won't go down them at all on his own he has been dragged down them and then he doesn't know how to go up with out guidance. Then when he goes in and out of our backdoor "we" have to stand in a certain place on the landing and hold the door open or he doesn't want to go out or come in.

Jack as you can see in the photo loves playing with a bowling ball, it is especially fun playing in the lake and he pushes and paws at it until he get the holes up then he picks it up with his teeth and puts it on the seawall to do all over again. Don't forget when you get tired of playing with the bowling ball in the lake, you just lay down in the water until you are rested.

Jack also loves laying around on his back, spread eagle . . . quite the site! Oh, yeah and Jack doesn't bark, he flags his lips like he is trying but almost never makes any noise, I guess that is why he often gets left outside, we forget about him, he just stares at the door hoping it will open and his people will be standing in the right spot.

These are only a few of his quirks . . . it must be a Labrador thing to be quirky, thats why we love him so much!

Jack is a beautiful lab! It sounds like he got some of the "good" quirks (i.e. not barking). That's a great picture too... he looks very happy.

More of my Charlie - I'm trying to work on my composition and trying for something different:

Some of the local geese that live on our lake.
This is from my first day with a d-slr since I quit shooting 35mm 15 yrs ago. I'm pretty excited to be shooting again.

This is Ash, our 14 year old on his favorite perch, my office chair! He watches me while I work on my photos and occasionally tries to climb up on my head (it was easier when he was a kitten).
