I have an old Kiron lens (thing is a tank!) that appears to have an issue shooting in daylight. Is this light bouncing in the barrel or do I have a haze issue on the glass?

I hear you on that! Also hoping for this tech to trickle down to lesser models. I know I don't need 4K and not even sure of Full Frame.

I waited months for the A7000 to be announced so I could get a better deal...couldn't wait anymore

I would guess haze. look through the lens from the back and see if you can spot anything.

Macros look pretty good - really need a steady hand, lots of light or a tripod for sharp shots.

Plus you know how hard it is to smuggle stuff into the house without the wife knowing, if she ever caught wind on how much I have really spent I would end up like this She thinks i've spent about 1/4 of what I really have.

I figure by spring 2017 it will come down in price a decent amount. It took about 2 years for the A99 to drop a $1000 so maybe by that point ill be ready to switch to E mount

I can certainly relate to that! I also still value the small size and weight factor of my NEX-7, especially when I was running through the parks a few weeks ago in 90+ degree temps.

Thanks, yea it was fun getting so close with the macro but it was tough. took me a while to figure out that I need a lot more lighting to get anything usable.

When going through the shots I was thinking haze too, but then I saw this one

Very easily could've been a scene from The Wire (Season 2) if the young ladies on the left weren't there (guy on the right looks like an officer taking notes).

I'm not a huge fan of the a7ii. Though I suspect the eventual a7iii will be far superior.
To me, you go full frame for the sensor. And the a7ii sensor isn't super impressive. Only performs a bit better than the a6000 in IQ. Meanwhile, it will focus slower than the a6000, shoot slower, and be larger.
Now, when the a7rii tech migrates down to the a7iii -- far advanced af system, more advanced sensor (but lower resolution than the a7rii), it will be a very interesting camera. Of course, it could be 3 months away, or 2 years away.

Hey Havoc, how's it going? Did you go on your Alaska cruise yet?

Yes - those are some of the things holding me back from the A7ii as we've discussed before. I'm also holding out for the (hopefully) new A6xxx or A7xxx. I just love the size of my Nex-7 and having recently walked 11 miles in one day at WDW it was so nice to carry around that camera and a few lenses. So I'm still undecided.

I would love the new A7rii sensor in a smaller body - I can go without IBIS and 4k. If they could do that for $2,000 or so I would buy it tomorrow.

Yes, back.... Will post some shots. Unfortunately, lots of fog/rain/clouds inhibited shooting a bit, cancelled my whale watch, etc.

To stay in compact size, you'll need to stick to aps-c. Once you factor in the size of a quality lens, you just can't make full frame all that compact.

I suspect 4k will be in all future Sony cameras, though I can totally live without it.
Ibis is certainly valuable... Think about how much greater use you'd get out of the 200/2.8 if you could use it handheld indoors at 1/125 or even 1/60. Well worth 100 grams in weight.

Full frame is about the best possible iq. Aps-c is about a bit more compromise, excellent iq in a smaller and more affordable package. While the a7 series has downsized full frame somewhat, as we are seeing with the release of premium lenses, you simply can't expect a huge size savings.

I have been tempted by the a6000 as a carry-around camera. The d750 did start to weigh me down on vacation. But on the other hand--- I was shooting in some bad conditions where I really benefited from the great dynamic range, weather sealing, and fast lenses.

My first outing to the zoo with my a77-II and Sigma 50-150 2.8. The lens isn't tack-sharp, and I need practice holding the camera/lens steady, but I managed to get several keepers. In this shot, there was a small opening thru the tree branches to see the tigers -- an opening that seemed much smaller when zoomed all the way in.
