This was my first Fireworks shoot fwiw. Taken January 20 at Epcot Illuminations.
This is one of my favorites of the bunch..

Now if I could figure out how to take this good of a photo of the fireworks... This is beautiful!:thumbsup2

I've been feeling left out lately (and a little home sick) seeing all those great snow shots that everyone is taking. Unfortunately we never get any snow here in Mexico City. However, we had a really clear day the other day, and I was able to take a few pictures of a snow covered volcano not too far from us (normally you can't even come close to seeing this mountain range due to the pollution).

I used the D50 for 2 1/2 years then switched to the D300 and have been with that now for 1 1/2 years. There are MANY MANY things the D300 can do that the D50 can't. Some of them I had forgot about because I just couldn't do it with the D50. One example is the Commander mode for the speed light flash. I came across a review the other day of the D300s and someone had talked about it. DING! A light bulb went off in my head. I can do that. I have the D300. I have the SB-600. So today I put everything together and it worked like a charm. I bought a diffuser for my pop-up flash and used that as the master flash. I put the SB-600 on a tripod to my left with a diffuser and snapped away. Looking at the results, I now want to buy the SB-900 to use as a Master flash in this setup. Till I can round up the funding, I'll borrow an extra speed-light from a friend when I really need to get some more serious portraits done. Having that speed-light off to the right to balance the one on the left will make a big difference and really bring things all together for me.

Anyway, here are my test subjects.... ;)

My youngest didn't want to participate in the picture taking...

Sorry for posting 3. :)

Great work Kyle!! They all turned out awesome. You sure do have some beautiful kids there.

What lens did you use?

And next time go ahead and post as many as you want. :thumbsup2

Kyle, your portraits are really coming along well! Nice job and keep sharing. :)

Thanks guys.

I used the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens for these.

I have been trying different lighting setups for a while now. I have some continuous compact florescent lights. 1 puts out 400 watts, but its still not enough.

I absolutely LOVE the Nikon Creative Lighting System. I don't need ANY cords and its MUCH less expensive than anything else.

I got the Gary Fong Puffer Diffuser for my pop-up and it works real nice. I really really really want another Speedlight flash now. Time to start saving up for the SB-900.
