Well, I've been back a week now and I'm finally getting through the 800-some photos I took on the 4/23 Western. I've just posted one of my favorites which is of the fireworks from the Magic while we were docked in Cozumel.

Awesome photo, thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you for sharing. That was a beautiful picture!

That is just the most fantastic picture! If they do a pirate night on the west coast cruises, will we get fireworks too? :lovestruc

Wow! Beautiful! How'd you take that picture. My night pictures never look that good. Maybe I should take a photography class before we go!

WOW!!!!
That is an amazing picture!!!

Can't wait to see it on my own!

WOW! That picture is so good it almost looks fake!

You should email it to allearsnet photo of the week. I think they usually only pick photos taken at Disney World, but maybe for a photo that awesome they will make an exception!

I agree, that was one awesome photo. Where were you to take that picture? I just got a really great digital camera and I hope my pictures turn out okay.

Great Picture!!! Where are the people? Are they in a different part of the ship?

Beautiful picture! I took 107 pictures last night of the new 50th celebration fireworks show at DL and they did not come out this clear. Although I got some neat pics! What is your secret?

Do they have Fireworks on all of the 7 night cruises? :confused3

Thanks for all of the fantastic comments, everyone. Taking pictures is fun but sharing them's even better.

Since many of you have asked about how to get a shot like this I'll tell you the secret....in two words......a tripod. The only way to get decent night or fireworks shots is to have a camera on a tripod and have a very long shutter speed. The shutter was open for a whopping 7 seconds on this shot. Oh and the other necessary equipment is a spouse who's patient enough to sit around while you monkey with more photo gear than Ansel Adams had.

Of course the other trick was knowing when and where the fireworks would go off. This was actually a little difficult as I got conflicting information from a few different cast members. The time in the Navigator listed it as something like 10:15 - 11:30. Guest Services explained that it depended on what time we pulled out of port because they weren't allowed to fire them while docked. Turns out that's apparently not true. We were still docked when these went off (@10:40). I also didn't know which side of the ship they would be which is why I set up on the little walkway between the port and starboard side behind the forward funnel. Apparently they shoot off from the top of Palo. Not sure if they always go in the same direction.

Someone else asked where all the people where...most everyone was around the Goofy pool for the pirate night party. I was more interested in getting this shot so I set up further down the ship.

Thanks again for the nice words. I'll post a link to the rest of my pix once they're up (none are really as good as this one though).

Those are some wonderful pictures. What kind of camera were you using there? Especially for the underwater shots. Did you have some sort of flash underwater? Incredible results.
