Took this from our balcony last Wednesday.

I was just saying to my wife, and to the dog and cat if they were listening, "I wonder how the construction on VGC is going", and right then your post and picture (very good, clear picture I might add) came up.

I am on the list to add on at VGC ASAP! Thanks.

I could see tiny glimpses of the parade from the balcony, but I guess even by you won't be able to from many rooms.

Ohhh, I can't wait until it's completed!!! Thanks for the great pic!

Thanks for sharing the photo. Going to be out there in a few days. Did you notice much construction noise at all? Thanks.pirate:

Fortunately it was Memorial Day Sunday when we arrived, so it was only Tuesday and Wednesday morning we heard noise, and then only when on the balcony or had the balcony doors open. It does spoil the view though as you can see.

Thank you. Hope you enjoyed your stay. It looks like the DVC Resort will inherit the views of DCA.

Does anyone else think this is one of the slowest projects around???? It was a hole in the ground more than a year ago when we were there, and it just seems like it should be farther along than this now.

We really did enjoy our stay. We had 3 nights there at the end of the PC repo cruise and used our Developer points to stay there. Otherwise we would have been outside the park, which would have been ok, but this was better, even with the construction. We had never been to DL before but even with it being a busy time we just loved it and hope to stay again someday. Unfortunately buying the DVC there would be no real use to us with the long journey.

I don't know how high the building is going to be but it will certainly block the view. I think the trees will block some of the lower DVC views though unless they cut them back.

I was thinking the same thing...

GREAT Picture!! Thanks so much.

There is an Embassy Suites going up next to my company's office in Glendale CA and it has seemed to take forever. It's about 10 stories and it's been over 2 years. I think it's because of the earthquake reinforced construction. Lots of concrete.

April 30 from Paradise Pier:

I think building the underground parking garage and related infrastructure must have taken a LOT of work--hopefully now that they're onto the building portion it will go more quickly . . . . .

We're here at the GC right now as well, and we watched them pouring the concrete yesterday while sitting at the pool. I think the project would go a lot faster if it weren't for that whole pool area remaining open. They had to bring a crane in to hoist the concrete carrier over the structure and then several men had to maneuver the tub into place and pour into the wooden frames. It was funny to watch all the men sitting out by the pool who were absolutely fascinated by whole enterprise--boys and their toys. :rolleyes2 I'm bummed that we missed the open house on the new models last weekend. :(

I wanted them right next to each other...

So it looks like since April 30th they have added teh second floor.

I was there in early March, and then again the week prior to Memorial Day - about 7 weeks between. In that time they added the second level. The pre-work took forever yes, but it should be able to move faster now. Construction in So. Cal definitely is a different animal.

I would think so too... we'll be back there in mid-July - so hopefully they'll have the 3rd level up - or more, but only time will tell.

It does feel like forever, doesn't it? I feel like the woman in those old Mervyn's adds saying "open...open...open". But they actually didn't break ground until last October, so it's only been seven (long) months. Thankfully the pace really is picking up now that they're done with the basement and are going vertical. The Disney Geek site has a nice photo history of the project, that they update every few weeks:
