Photo Board Assignment: Summer Scavenger Hunt, June-September, 2012

Something your city or town is known for:

Portland is known for its Art Cars - this is the Never Never Van, supposedly based on the story of Peter Pan. I think it's kind of creepy and I don't really see the Peter Pan connection.

Something My City is Known For – More Festivals and Major Events (Part 1)

This weekend, this event rolled into town. It brought all sorts of shooting opportunities with it!

This week I also went to see the Wallace and Gromit World of Invention exhibition at one of the museums in town.

There were lots of things that appealed to my sense of humour there.

Wow PrincessInOz - you hit paydirt this week! I love Wallace and Grommet. Thanks for posting - I was starting to think I killed the thread. :confused3

Here's a Chickadee from me.

Something else Portland is known for... we have these metal rings on our curbs where people used to tie their horses before they had cars. Actually, we still tie our horses to them. Note the tiny crocheted saddle.

...and sometimes our zebras!

It's fun to happen upon the horses when out walking. Here's one of my favorites from a few streets away.

Thanks Twigs. I hope you get out and about some more. I really love seeing pictures from everyone.

I finally uploaded some pics that I took on Father's Day!

That's all I have for now! Of course, the following weekend when we went back to my hometown for dinner and I didn't bring my camera, we found all kinds of things on the list, like tadpoles, yachts, and pigs (what my hometown is known for). *Sigh* That's the way it is, folks.

Haha! Nice! Unfortunately, our oldest graveyard in town used to have these along the granite wall. They have since been removed by thieves looking for scrap metal.

Oh, that's terrible. I'm surprised that hasn't happened here, but glad it hasn't.

dcg0317 - I love that chickadee photo! Puts mine to shame - darn iphone.

7/4/12- Happy Independence Day everyone! (Insert your favorite Bill Pullman speech here) by bianchiea5, on Flickr

Okay, so this one is a big stretch. These are the Green Mountains, which is the closest thing to the Ozarks I was going to get this year.

This one is Macro and Upside Down. If you look in the drop, thanks to the focal length and properties of the water droplet, the images refracted through it appear upside down. But you have to look closely to really see it. (I'll work on that one.)

Time for things food related!

My dinner, a little Fishy

0624FishandChipdinner015.jpg

This set is dedicated to my Dad. He turned 80 last week and we had a big family gathering. My family are gun-shy about posting pictures on the web; so this post is all about the Noshery we had for my Dad's birthday bash....I've tried to keep it within the categories.

Tried. But you all know that I'm usually....er.....a gas cylinder shy of Hot Air in a Helium Balloon

Pea-n-me, I swear I had nothing to do with this. My SiL brought a whole bamboo steamer full of Peppermints!

0629BirthdayDinner088.jpg

To help celebrate my Dad's birthday, we had family from the US come to visit. These are some of the Noshery my cousin from SF and I got up to.
